Philippiens 2

1 Si donc il est quelque consolation dans le Christ, quelque douceur dans la charité, quelque communion d’esprit; s’il est des entrailles de commisération,

Wherefore, if there be any consolation in Christ; if any comfort of love; if any fellowship of the Spirit; if any sympathies and tender mercies,

2 Comblez ma joie, étant dans les mêmes sentiments, ayant la même charité, la même âme, la même pensée;

complete this my joy, that you be likeminded; having the very same love, being unanimous, minding the one thing.

3 Rien par esprit de contention, ni par vaine gloire, mais par humilité, croyant les autres au-dessus de soi,

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but, in humbleness of mind esteem each other better that yourselves:

4 Chacun ayant égard, non à ses propres intérêts, mais à ceux d’autrui.

not aiming every one at his own interests, but every one also, at the interests of the others.

5 Ayez en vous les sentiments qu’avait en lui le Christ Jésus,

Now let this disposition be in you which was also in Christ Jesus;

6 Qui, étant dans la forme de Dieu, n’a pas cru que ce fût une usurpation de se faire égal à Dieu;

who, though he was in the form of God, did not affect to appear in divine majesty;

7 Mais il s’est anéanti lui-même, prenant la forme d’esclave, ayant été fait semblable aux hommes, et reconnu pour homme par les dehors.

but divested himself, taking upon him the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men;

8 Il s’est humilié lui-même, s’étant fait obéissant jusqu’à la mort de la croix.

and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

9 C’est pourquoi Dieu l’a exalté et lui a donné un nom qui est au-dessus de tout nom;

And for this reason, God has exceedingly exalted him, and has bestowed on him a name which is above every name;

10 Afin qu’au nom de Jésus, tout genou fléchisse dans le ciel, sur la terre et dans les enfers,

that, at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow; of those in heaven, and upon the earth, and under the earth;

11 Et que toute langue confesse que le Seigneur Jésus-Christ est dans la gloire de Dieu le Père.

and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 Ainsi, mes bien-aimés (comme vous avez été toujours obéissants), non-seulement en ma présence, mais bien plus encore en mon absence, comme en ce moment, opérez votre salut avec crainte et tremblement.

Wherefore, my beloved, since you have always obeyed, not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence; effectually work out your own salvation, with fear and trembling;

13 Car c’est Dieu qui opère en vous et le vouloir et le faire, selon sa bonne volonté.

for it is God who works effectually in you, both to will and to perform, on account of his benevolence.

14 Faites tout sans murmure et sans hésitations;

Do all things without murmurings and disputings;

15 Afin que vous soyez sans reproche et sincères, comme des enfants de Dieu, sans répréhension au milieu d’une nation dépravée et perverse, parmi laquelle vous brillez comme des astres dans le monde,

that you may be blameless and harmless, the children of God, unblemished in the midst of a crooked and perverse race; among whom shine as lights in the world,

16 Gardant la parole de vie pour ma gloire au jour du Christ, parce que ce n’est pas en vain que j’ai couru, ni en vain que j’ai travaillé.

holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, nor have labored in vain.

17 Et si je suis immolé sur le sacrifice et l’oblation de votre foi, je m’en réjouis et m’en félicite avec vous tous;

Yes, and if I be made a drink-offering upon the sacrifice and ministry of your faith, I joy and rejoice with you all;

18 Mais vous-mêmes, réjouissezvous-en et vous en félicitez avec moi.

and for the same do you also joy and rejoice with me.

19 J’espère dans le Seigneur Jésus vous envoyer bientôt Timothée, afin que moi aussi, je sois consolé, ce qui vous regarde m’étant connu.

Now I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be of good courage, that I also may be of good courage, when I know your affairs.

20 Car je n’ai personne qui me soit aussi intimement uni et qui s’inquiète autant de vous par une affection sincère.

For I have no one like disposed, who will sincerely take care of your affairs;

21 En effet, tous cherchent leurs intérêts et non les intérêts de Jésus-Christ.

for all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.

22 Or jugez-le par l’épreuve qui en a été faite, puisque, comme un fils aide son père, il m’a aidé dans la prédication de l’Evangile.

But you know the proof of him, that, as a son with a father, so he has served with me in the gospel.

23 J’ai donc dessein de vous l’envoyer dès que j’aurai pourvu à ce qui me regarde.

Now, indeed, I hope to send him immediately, as soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24 Et j’ai cette confiance dans le Seigneur, que moi-même je viendrai bientôt vers vous.

However, I am fully persuaded by the Lord, that even I myself shall soon come.

25 Cependant j’ai jugé nécessaire de vous envoyer Epaphrodite, mon frère, compagnon de mes travaux et de mes combats, votre apôtre et mon aide dans mes nécessités;

Yet I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellowlaborer, and fellowsoldier; but your Apostle, and a minister to my want.

26 Parce qu’il désirait vous voir tous, et qu’il était affligé que vous l’aviez su malade.

For he longed after you all, and was exceedingly grieved, because you had heard that he had been sick.

27 Car il a été malade jusqu’à la mort, mais Dieu a eu pitié de lui, et non-seulement de lui, mais de moi aussi, afin que je n’eusse point tristesse sur tristesse.

And, indeed, he was sick nigh to death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow.

28 Je vous l’ai donc envoyé en grande hâte, pour que le revoyant, vous vous réjouissiez, et que je ne sois plus moi-même dans l’affliction.

Wherefore I have sent him the more speedily, that seeing him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the more free from sorrow.

29 C’est pourquoi recevez-le en toute joie dans le Seigneur, et honorez ceux qui sont tels.

Receive him, therefore, in the Lord, with all joy, and have such persons in great estimation;

30 Car c’est à cause de l’œuvre du Christ qu’il a été tout près de la mort, livrant son âme pour accomplir envers moi le service que vous ne me pouviez rendre vous-mêmes.

because for the work of Christ, he drew nigh to death, not regarding his life, that he might fully supply the want of your service toward me.
