1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:

And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

2 Ordonne aux enfants d’Israël, et tu leur diras: Lorsque vous serez entrés dans la terre de Chanaan, et qu’elle vous sera échue en possession par le sort, c’est par ces frontières qu’elle sera bornée:

Commande the children of Israel, and say vnto them, When yee come into the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall vnto your inheritance: that is, the land of Canaan with the coastes thereof.

3 La partie méridionale commencera au désert de Sin, qui est près d’Edom; et elle aura pour frontière vers l’orient la mer très salée;

And your Southquarter shalbe from the wildernesse of Zin to the borders of Edom: so that your Southquarter shall be from the salt Sea coast Eastwarde:

4 Ces frontières environneront la partie australe par la montée du Scorpion, en sorte qu’elles passent à Senna, et qu’elles viennent depuis le midi jusqu’à Cadesbarné, d’où elles iront par les lieux limitrophes jusqu’au village du nom d’Adar, et s’étendront jusqu’à Asémona;

And the border shall compasse you from the South to Maaleh-akrabbim, and reach to Zin, and goe out from the South to Kadesh-barnea: thence it shall stretch to Hazar-addar, and go along to Azmon.

5 Puis la limite ira en tournant d’Asémona jusqu’au torrent d’Egypte, et elle finira au rivage de la grande mer.

And the border shall compasse from Azmon vnto the riuer of Egypt, and shall goe out to the Sea.

6 Mais la partie occidentale commencera à la grande mer, et sera fermée par cette limite même.

And your Westquarter shall bee the great Sea: euen that border shalbe your Westcoast.

7 Or, vers la partie septentrionale, les limites commenceront à la grande mer, parvenant jusqu’à la très haute montagne,

And this shall bee your Northquarter: yee shall marke out your border from the great Sea vnto mount Hor.

8 De laquelle elles viendront à Emath jusqu’aux confins de Sédada;

From mount Hor ye shall point out till it come vnto Hamath, and the end of the coast shall be at Zedad.

9 Puis, elles iront par les lieux limitrophes jusqu’à Zéphrona, et au village d’Enan. Telles seront les limites dans la partie de l’aquilon.

And the coast shall reach out to Ziphron, and goe out at Hazar-enan. this shalbe your Northquarter.

10 De là les frontières se mesureront contre la partie orientale, depuis le village d’Enan jusqu’à Séphama;

And ye shall marke out your Eastquarter from Hazar-enan to Shepham.

11 Et de Séphama, les limites descendront à Rébla, contre la fontaine de Daphnim: de là elles parviendront contre l’orient à la mer de Cénéreth,

And the coast shall goe downe from Shepham to Riblah, and from the Eastside of Ain: and the same border shall descend and goe out at the side of the sea of Chinneereth Eastward.

12 S’étendront jusqu’au Jourdain, et enfin seront fermées par la mer très salée. C’est cette terre que vous aurez selon ses frontières dans son contour.

Also that border shall goe downe to Iorden, and leaue at the salt Sea. this shalbe your land with the coastes thereof round about.

13 Moïse ordonna donc aux enfants d’Israël, disant: Ce sera la terre que vous posséderez par le sort, et que le Seigneur a commandé qu’on donnât aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu.

Then Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the lande which yee shall inherite by lot, which the Lord commanded to giue vnto nine tribes and halfe the tribe.

14 Car la tribu des enfants de Ruben, selon ses familles, et la tribu des enfants de Gad, selon le nombre de sa parenté, et aussi la demi-tribu de Manassé,

For the tribe of the children of Reuben, according to the housholdes of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad, according to their fathers housholdes, and halfe the tribe of Manasseh, haue receiued their inheritance.

15 C’est-à-dire deux tribus et demie, ont reçu leur part au-delà du Jourdain, contre Jéricho, à la partie orientale.

Two tribes and an halfe tribe haue receiued their inheritance on this side of Iorden toward Iericho full East.

16 Le Seigneur dit aussi à Moïse:

Againe the Lord spake to Moses, saying,

17 Voici les noms des hommes qui vous partageront la terre: Eléazar, le prêtre, et Josué, fils de Nun,

These are the names of the men which shall deuide ye land vnto you: Eleazar the Priest, and Ioshua the sonne of Nun.

18 Et chaque prince de chaque tribu,

And ye shall take also a prince of euerie tribe to deuide the land.

19 Dont voici les noms: De la tribu de Juda, Caleb, fils de Jéphoné;

The names also of the men are these: Of the tribe of Iudah, Caleb ye sonne of Iephunneh.

20 De la tribu de Siméon, Samuel, fils d’Ammiud;

And of the tribe of the sonnes of Simeon, Shemuel the sonne of Ammihud.

21 De la tribu de Benjamin, Elidad, fils de Chasélon;

Of the tribe of Beniamin, Elidad the sonne of Chislon.

22 De la tribu des enfants de Dan, Bocci, fils de Jogli;

Also of the tribe of the sonnes of Dan, the prince Bukki, the sonne of Iogli.

23 Des enfants de Joseph: de la tribu de Manassé, Hanniel, fils d’Ephod;

Of the sonnes of Ioseph: of the tribe of the sonnes of Manasseh, the prince Hanniel the sonne of Ephod.

24 De la tribu d’Ephraïm, Camuel, fils de Sephtan;

And of the tribe of the sonnes of Ephraim, the prince Kemuel, the sonne of Shiphtan.

25 De la tribu de Zabulon, Elisaphan, fils de Pharnach;

Of the tribe also of the sonnes of Zebulun, the prince Elizaphan, the sonne of Parnach.

26 De la tribu d’Issachar, le chef Phaltiel, fils d’Ozan;

So of the tribe of the sonnes of Issachar, the prince Paltiel the sonne of Azzan.

27 De la tribu d’Aser, Ahiud, fils de Salomi:

Of the tribe also of the sonnes of Asher, the prince Ahihud, the sonne of Shelomi.

28 De la tribu de Nephthali, Phédaël, fils d’Ammiud.

And of the tribe of the sonnes of Naphtali, the prince Pedahel, the sonne of Ammihud.

29 Tels sont ceux auxquels le Seigneur ordonna de partager aux enfants d’Israël la terre de Chanaan.

These are they, whome the Lord commanded to deuide the inheritance vnto the children of Israel, in the land of Canaan.
