1 Après que le sang des coupables eut été répandu, le Seigneur dit à Moïse et à Eléazar, le prêtre, fils d’Aaron:
And it came to pass after the plague, that the Lord spoke to Moses and Eleazar the priest, saying,
2 Faites le dénombrement complet des enfants d’Israël depuis vingt ans et au-dessus, selon leurs maisons et leur parenté, de tous ceux qui peuvent aller aux combats.
Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, according to the houses of their lineage, every one that goes forth to battle in Israel.
3 C’est pourquoi Moïse et Eléazar, le prêtre, parlèrent, dans les plaines de Moab, sur le Jourdain, contre Jéricho, à ceux qui avaient
And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke in Araboth of Moab at the Jordan by Jericho, saying,
4 Vingt ans et au-dessus, comme le Seigneur avait commandé, et dont voici le nombre:
[This is the numbering] from twenty years old and upward as the Lord commanded Moses. And the sons of Israel that came out of Egypt [are as follows]:
5 Ruben, premier-né d’Israël; son fils Hénoch, de qui vient la famille des Hénochites; Phallu, de qui vient la famille des Phalluites;
Ruben [was] the firstborn of Israel: and the sons of Ruben, Enoch, and the family of Enoch; to Phallu belongs the family of the Phalluites.
6 Hesron, de qui vient la famille des Hesronites; et Charmi, de qui vient la famille des Charmites.
To Asron, the family of Asroni: to Charmi, the family of Charmi.
7 Telles sont les familles de la race de Ruben, dont le nombre trouvé fut de quarante-trois mille et sept cent trente.
These [are] the families of Ruben; and their numbering was forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
8 Le fils de Phallu, fut Eliab;
And the sons of Phallu [were] Eliab, —
9 Les fils de celui-ci, Namuel, Dathan et Abiron. Ce sont Dathan et Abiron, les princes du peuple, qui s’élevèrent contre Moïse et Aaron, dans la sédition de Coré, quand ils se révoltèrent contre le Seigneur,
and the sons of Eliab, Namuel, and Dathan, and Abiron: these [are] renowned men of the congregation; these are they that rose up against Moses and Aaron in the gathering of Core, in the rebellion against the Lord.
10 Et que la terre, ouvrant sa bouche, dévora Coré, un grand nombre, étant morts; quand le feu brûla deux cent cinquante hommes. Alors il se fit un grand miracle,
And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up them and Core, when their assembly perished, when the fire devoured the two hundred and fifty, and they were made a sign.
11 Tel que, Coré périssant, ses fils ne périrent pas.
But the sons of Core died not.
12 Les fils de Siméon selon leurs familles: Namuel; de lui vient la famille des Namuélites: Jamin; de lui vient la famille des Jaminites: Jachin; de lui vient la famille des Jachinites:
And the sons of Symeon: —the family of the sons of Symeon: to Namuel, [belonged] the family of the Namuelites; to Jamin the family of the Jaminites; to Jachin the family of the Jachinites.
13 Zaré; de lui vient la famille des Zaréites: Saül; de lui vient la famille des Saülites.
To Zara the family of the Zaraites; to Saul the family of the Saulites.
14 Ce sont là les familles de la race de Siméon, dont le nombre total fut de vingt-deux mille deux cents.
These [are] the families of Symeon according to their numbering, two and twenty thousand and two hundred.
15 Les fils de Gad, selon leur parenté: Séphon; de lui vient la famille des Séphonites: Aggi; de lui vient la famille des Aggites: Suni; de lui vient la famille des Sunites:
And the sons of Juda, Er and Aunan; and Er and Aunan died in the land of Chanaan.
16 Ozni; de lui vient la famille des Oznites: Her; de lui vient la famille des Hérites:
And these were the sons of Juda, according to their families: to Selom [belonged] the family of the Selonites; to Phares, the family of the Pharesites; to Zara, the family of the Zaraites.
17 Arod; de lui vient la famille des Arodites: Ariel; de lui vient la famille des Ariélites:
And the sons of Phares were, to Asron, the family of the Asronites; to Jamun, the family of the Jamunites.
18 Telles sont les familles de Gad, dont le nombre total fut de quarante mille cinq cents.
These [are] the families of Juda according to their numbering, seventy-six thousand and five hundred.
19 Les fils de Juda: Her et Onan, qui tous deux moururent dans la terre de Chanaan.
And the sons of Issachar according to their families: to Thola, the family of the Tholaites; to Phua, the family of the Phuaites.
20 Or, les fils de Juda furent, selon leur parenté: Séla, de qui vient la famille des Sélaïtes: Pharès, de qui vient la famille des Pharésites: Zaré, de qui vient la famille des Zaréites.
To Jasub, the family of the Jasubites; to Samram, the family of the Samramites.
21 Mais les fils de Pharès: Hesron, de qui vient la famille des Hesronites; et Hamul, de qui vient la famille des Hamulites.
These [are] the families of Issachar according to their numbering, sixty-four thousand and four hundred.
22 Telles sont les familles de Juda, dont le nombre total fut de soixante-seize mille cinq cents.
The sons of Zabulon according to their families: to Sared, the family of the Saredites; to Allon, the family of the Allonites; to Allel, the family of the Allelites.
23 Les fils d’Issachar, selon leur parenté: Tola, de qui vient la famille des Tolaïtes: Phua, de qui vient la famille des Phuaïtes:
These [are] the families of Zabulon according to their numbering, sixty thousand and five hundred.
24 Jasub, de qui vient la famille des Jasubites: Semran, de qui vient la famille des Semranites.
The sons of Gad according to their families: to Saphon, the family of the Saphonites; to Angi, the family of the Angites; to Suni, the family of the Sunites;
25 Telle est la parenté d’Issachar, dont le nombre total fut de soixante-quatre mille trois cents.
to Azeni, the family of the Azenites; to Addi, the family of the Addites:
26 Les fils de Zabulon, selon leur parenté: Sared, de qui vient la famille des Sarédites: Elon, de qui vient la famille des Elonites: Jalel, de qui vient la famille des Jalélites.
to Aroadi, the family of the Aroadites; to Ariel, the family of the Arielites.
27 Telle est la parenté de Zabulon, dont le nombre fut de soixante mille cinq cents.
These [are] the families of the children of Gad according to their numbering, forty-four thousand and five hundred.
28 Les fils de Joseph, selon leur parenté: Manassé et Ephraïm.
The sons of Aser according to their families; to Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; to Jesu, the family of the Jesusites; to Baria, the family of the Bariaites.
29 De Manassé naquit Machir, de qui vient la famille des Machirites. Machir engendra Galaad, de qui vient la famille des Galaadites.
To Chober, the family of the Choberites; to Melchiel, the family of the Melchielites.
30 Galaad eut des fils: Jézer, de qui vient la famille des Jézérites: Hélec, de qui vient la famille des Hélécites:
And the name of the daughter of Aser, Sara.
31 Asriel, de qui vient la famille des Asriélites: Séchem, de qui vient la famille des Séchémites:
These [are] the families of Aser according to their numbering, forty-three thousand and four hundred.
32 Sémida, de qui vient la famille des Sémidaïtes; et Hépher, de qui vient la famille des Héphérites.
The sons of Joseph according to their families, Manasse and Ephraim.
33 Or Hépher fut père de Salphaad qui n’eut point de fils, mais seulement des filles, dont les noms sont: Maala, Noa, Hégla, Melcha et Thersa.
The sons of Manasse. To Machir the family of the Machirites; and Machir begot Galaad: to Galaad, the family of the Galaadites.
34 Ce sont là les familles de Manassé, et leur nombre fut de cinquante-deux mille sept cents.
And these [are] the sons of Galaad; to Achiezer, the family of the Achiezerites; to Cheleg, the family of the Chelegites.
35 Mais les enfants d’Ephraïm, selon leur parenté, furent ceux-ci: Suthala, de qui vient la famille des Suthalaïtes: Bécher, de qui vient la famille des Béchérites: Théhen, de qui vient la famille des Théhénites.
To Esriel, the family of the Esrielites; to Sychem, the family of the Sychemites.
36 Or, le fils de Suthala fut Héran, de qui vient la famille des Héranites.
To Symaer, the family of the Symaerites; and to Opher, the family of the Opherites.
37 Telle est la parenté des fils d’Ephraïm, dont le nombre fut de trente-deux mille cinq cents.
And to Salpaad the son of Opher there were no sons, but daughters: and these [were] the names of the daughters of Salpaad; Mala, and Nua, and Egla, and Melcha, and Thersa.
38 Ce sont là les fils de Joseph, selon leurs familles. Les fils de Benjamin, selon leur parenté: Béla, de qui vient la famille des Bélaïtes: Asbel, de qui vient la famille des Asbélites: Ahiram, de qui vient la famille des Ahiramites.
These [are] the families of Manasse according to their numbering, fifty-two thousand and seven hundred.
39 Supham, de qui vient la famille des Suphamites: Hupham, de qui vient la famille des Huphamites.
And these [are] the children of Ephraim; to Suthala, the family of the Suthalanites; to Tanach, the family of the Tanachites.
40 Les fils de Béla: Héred et Noéman. De Héred vient la famille des Hérédites; de Noéman, la famille des Noémanites.
These [are] the sons of Suthala; to Eden, the family of the Edenites.
41 Ce sont là les fils de Benjamin, selon leur parenté, dont le nombre fut de quarante-cinq mille six cents.
These [are] the families of Ephraim according to their numbering, thirty-two thousand and five hundred: these [are] the families of the children of Joseph according to their families.
42 Les fils de Dan, selon leur parenté: Suham, de qui vient la famille des Suhamites. Telle est la parenté de Dan, selon ses familles.
The sons of Benjamin according to their families; to Bale, the family of the Balites; to Asyber, the family of the Asyberites; to Jachiran, the family of the Jachiranites.
43 Tous furent Suhamites, dont le nombre était de soixante-quatre mille quatre cents.
To Sophan, the family of the Sophanites.
44 Les fils d’Aser, selon leur parenté: Jemna, de qui vient la famille des Jemnaïtes: Jessui de qui vient la famille des Jessuites: Brié, de qui vient la famille des Briéites.
And the sons of Bale were Adar and Noeman; to Adar, the family of the Adarites; and to Noeman, the family of the Noemanites.
45 Les fils de Brié: Héber, de qui vient la famille des Hébérites. et Melchiel, de qui vient la famille des Melchiélites.
These [are] the sons of Benjamin by their families according to their numbering, thirty-five thousand and five hundred.
46 Mais le nom de la fille d’Aser fut Sara.
And the sons of Dan according to their families; to Same, the family of the Sameites; these [are] the families of Dan according to their families.
47 Telle est la parenté des fils d’Aser, et leur nombre fut de cinquante-trois mille quatre cents.
All the families of Samei according to their numbering, sixty-four thousand and four hundred.
48 Les fils de Nephthali, selon leur parenté: Jésiel, de qui vient la famille des Jésiélites: Guni, de qui vient la famille des Gunites.
The sons of Nephthali according to their families; to Asiel, the family of the Asielites; to Gauni, the family of the Gaunites.
49 Jéser, de qui vient la famille des Jésérites: Sellem, de qui vient la famille des Sellémites.
To Jeser, the family of the Jeserites; to Sellem, the family of the Sellemites.
50 Telle est la parenté des fils de Nephthali, selon leurs familles, et dont le nombre fut de quarante-cinq mille quatre cents.
These [are] the families of Nephthali, according to their numbering, forty thousand and three hundred.
51 C’est là le nombre des enfants d’Israël qui furent recensés: six cent et un mille sept cent trente.
This [is] the numbering of the children of Israel, six hundred and one thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
52 Le Seigneur parla ensuite à Moïse, disant:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
53 La terre leur sera partagée selon le nombre des noms, pour être leurs possessions.
To these the land shall be divided, so that they may inherit according to the number of the names.
54 Au plus grand nombre tu donneras la plus grande partie, et au plus petit nombre, la moindre; à chacun sera remise sa possession, selon qu’il vient d’être recensé;
To the greater number you shall give the greater inheritance, and to the less number you shall give the less inheritance: to each one, as they have been numbered, shall their inheritance be given.
55 De manière seulement que ce soit le sort qui partage la terre aux tribus et aux familles.
The land shall be divided to the names by lot, they shall inherit according to the tribes of their families.
56 Tout ce qui sera échu par le sort, c’est ce que recevra ou le plus grand nombre ou le plus petit nombre.
You shall divide their inheritance by lot between the many and the few.
57 Voici aussi le nombre des fils de Lévi, selon leurs familles: Gerson, de qui vient la famille des Gersonites: Caath, de qui vient la famille des Caathites: Mérari, de qui vient la famille des Mérarites.
And the sons of Levi according to their families; to Gedson, the family of the Gedsonites; to Caath, the family of the Caathites; to Merari, the family of the Merarites.
58 Voici les familles de Lévi: la famille de Lobni, la famille d’Hébroni, la famille de Moholi, la famille de Musi, la famille de Coré.
These [are] the families of the sons of Levi; the family of the Lobenites, the family of the Chebronites, the family of the Coreites, and the family of the Musites; and Caath begot Amram.
59 Qui eut pour femme Jochabed, fille de Lévi, laquelle naquit en Egypte; c’est elle qui engendra à Amram, son mari, ses fils, Aaron et Moïse, et Marie leur sœur.
And the name of his wife [was] Jochabed, daughter of Levi, who bore these to Levi in Egypt, and she bore to Amram, Aaron and Moses, and Mariam their sister.
60 D’Aaron naquirent: Nadab, Abiu, Eléazar, et Ithamar;
And to Aaron were born both Nadab and Abiud, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.
61 Dont Nadab et Abiu moururent, lorsqu’ils eurent offert un feu étranger devant le Seigneur.
And Nadab and Abiud died when they offered strange fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sina.
62 Ainsi tous ceux qui furent dénombrés, s’élevèrent à vingt-trois mille du sexe masculin, depuis un mois et au-dessus, parce qu’ils ne furent pas recensés parmi les enfants d’Israël, et qu’il ne leur fut pas donné de possession avec les autres.
And there were according to their numbering, twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because they have no inheritance in the midst of the children of Israel.
63 C’est là le nombre des enfants d’Israël, qui furent enregistrés par Moïse et Eléazar, le prêtre, dans les plaines de Moab, sur le Jourdain, contre Jéricho;
And this [is] the numbering of Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in Araboth of Moab, at Jordan by Jericho.
64 Parmi lesquels il ne s’en trouva aucun de ceux qui avaient été dénombrés auparavant par Moïse et Aaron dans le désert de Sinaï.
And among these there was not a man numbered by Moses and Aaron, whom, [even] the children of Israel, they numbered in the wilderness of Sinai.
65 Carie Seigneur avait prédit que tous mourraient dans le désert. Ainsi, il ne resta pas un seul d’eux, si ce n’est Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, et Josué, fils de Nun.
For the Lord said to them, They shall surely die in the wilderness; and there was not left even one of them, except Chaleb the son of Jephonne, and Joshua the [son] of Naue.
