1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Fais-toi deux trompettes d’argent ductiles, avec lesquelles tu puisses convoquer la multitude, quand le camp devra être levé.
Make thee two trumpets of beaten silver, wherewith thou mayest call together the multitude when the camp is to be removed.
3 Et lorsque tu auras sonné des trompettes, toute la multitude s’assemblera vers toi à la porte du tabernacle d’alliance.
And when thou shalt sound the trumpets, all the multitude shall gather unto thee to the door of the tabernacle of the covenant.
4 Si tu sonnes une fois, les princes viendront vers toi, et les chefs de la multitude d’Israël.
If thou sound but once, the princes and the heads of the multitude of Israel shall come to thee.
5 Mais si le son de la trompette se fait entendre plus prolongé et interrompu, ceux qui sont du côté oriental lèveront le camp les premiers.
But if the sound of the trumpets be longer, and with interruptions, they that are on the east side, shall first go forward.
6 Mais au deuxième son et au bruit de la trompette pareil au premier, ceux qui habitent au midi enlèveront leurs tentes; et c’est de cette manière que les autres feront, les trompettes retentissant pour le départ.
And at the second sounding and like noise of the trumpet, they who lie on the south side shall take up their tents. And after this manner shall the rest do, when the trumpets shall sound for a march.
7 Et quand le peuple devra être assemblé, le son des trompettes sera simple, et elles sonneront sans interruption.
But when the people is to be gathered together, the sound of the trumpets shall be plain, and they shall not make a broken sound.
8 Or, les fils d’Aaron, prêtres, sonneront des trompettes; et ce sera une loi perpétuelle en vos générations.
And the sons of Aaron the priest shall sound the trumpets: and this shall be an ordinance for ever in your generations.
9 Si vous sortez de votre terre pour une guerre contre les ennemis qui combattent contre vous, vous sonnerez bruyamment des trompettes, et il y aura souvenir de vous devant le Seigneur votre Dieu, en sorte que vous soyez délivrés des mains de vos ennemis.
If you go forth to war out of your land against the enemies that fight against you, you shall sound aloud with the trumpets, and there shall be a remembrance of you before the Lord your God, that you may be delivered out of the hands of your enemies.
10 Quand vous ferez un festin, ainsi que les jours de fête, et les calendes, vous sonnerez des trompettes au milieu des holocaustes et des victimes pacifiques, afin qu’elles soient pour vous un souvenir de la part de votre Dieu. Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
If at any time you shall have a banquet, and on your festival days, and on the first days of your months, you shall sound the trumpets over the holocausts, and the sacrifices of peace offerings, that they may be to you for a remembrance of your God. I am the Lord your God.
11 À la seconde année, au second mois, au vingtième jour du mois, la nuée se leva de dessus le tabernacle de l’alliance;
The second year, in the second month, the twentieth day of the month, the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle of the covenant.
12 Alors les enfants d’Israël partirent, selon leurs bandes, du désert de Sinaï, et la nuée se reposa dans la solitude de Pharan.
And the children of Israel marched by their troops from the desert of Sinai, and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Pharan.
13 Or levèrent le camp les premiers, selon le commandement du Seigneur par l’entremise de Moïse,
And the first went forward according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
14 Les enfants de Juda, selon leurs bandes, dont le prince était Nahasson, fils d’Aminadab.
The sons of Juda by their troops: whose prince was Nahasson the son of Aminadab.
15 Dans la tribu des enfants d’Issachar, fut prince Nathanaël, fils de Suar.
In the tribe of the sons of Issachar, the prince was Nathanael the son of Suar.
16 Dans la tribu de Zabulon, était prince Eliab, fils d’Hélon.
In the tribe of Zabulon, the prince was Eliab the son of Helon.
17 Ainsi, le tabernacle ayant été enlevé, les enfants de Gerson et de Mérari sortirent, le portant.
And the tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gerson and Merari set forward, bearing it.
18 Ensuite partirent aussi selon leurs bandes et leur rang, les enfants de Ruben, dont le prince était Hélisur, fils de Sédéur.
And the sons of Ruben also marched, by their troops and ranks, whose prince was Helisur the son of Sedeur.
19 Mais dans la tribu des enfants de Siméon, le prince fut Salamiel, fils de Surisaddaï.
And in the tribe of Simeon, the prince was Salamiel the son of Surisaddai.
20 Et dans la tribu de Gad était prince Eliasaph, fils de Duel.
And in the tribe of Cad, the prince was Eliasaph the son of Duel.
21 Après, partirent aussi les Caathites portant le sanctuaire. Le tabernacle était toujours porté, jusqu’à ce qu’on vînt au lieu de l’érection,
Then the Caathites also marched carrying the sanctuary. So long was the tabernacle carried, till they same to the place of setting it up.
22 Levèrent de même le camp selon leurs bandes, les enfants d’Ephraïm, dans l’armée desquels le prince était Elisama, fils d’Ammiud.
The sons of Ephraim also moved their camp by their troops, in whose army the prince was Elisama the son of Ammiud.
23 Dans la tribu des fils de Manassé, le prince fut Gamaliel, fils de Phadassur.
And in the tribe of the sons of Manasses, the prince was Gamaliel the son of Phadassur.
24 Et dans la tribu de Benjamin était chef Abidan, fils de Gédéon.
And in the tribe of Benjamin, the prince was Abidan the son of Gedeon.
25 Partirent les derniers de tout le camp, selon leurs bandes, les fils de Dan, dans l’armée desquels le prince fut Ahiézer, fils d’Ammisaddaï.
The last of all the camp marched the sons of Dan by their troops, in whose army the prince was Ahiezer the son of Ammisaddai.
26 Mais dans la tribu des enfants d’Aser était prince Phégiel, fils d’Ochran;
And in the tribe of the sons of Aser, the prince was Phegiel the son of Ochran.
27 Et dans la tribu des enfants de Nephthali, le prince fut Ahira, fils d’Enan.
And in the tribe of the sons of Nephtali, the prince was Ahira the son of Enan.
28 Voilà le camp et les départs des enfants d’Israël, selon leurs bandes, quand ils sortaient.
This was the order of the camps, and marches of the children of Israel by their troops, when they set forward.
29 Or. Moïse dit à Hobab, fils de Raguel, le Madianite, son parent: Nous partons pour le lieu que le Seigneur doit nous donner: viens avec nous, afin que nous te fassions du bien, parce que le Seigneur a promis des biens à Israël.
And Moses said to Hobab the son of Raguel the Madianite, his kinsman: We are going towards the place which the Lord will give us: come with us, that we may do thee good: for the Lord hath promised good things to Israel.
30 Hobab lui répondit: Je n’irai pas avec toi, mais je retournerai en ma terre, dans laquelle je suis né.
But he answered him: I will not go with thee, but I will return to my country, wherein I was born.
31 Mais Moïse: Ne nous abandonne pas, reprit-il; car toi, tu sais dans quels lieux dans le désert nous devons camper, et tu seras notre guide.
And he said: Do not leave us: for thou knowest in what places we should encamp in the wilderness, and thou shalt be our guide.
32 Et quand tu seras venu avec nous, tout ce qu’il y aura de meilleur dans les richesses que le Seigneur doit nous accorder, nous te le donnerons.
And if thou comest with us, we will give thee what is the best of the riches which the Lord shall deliver to us.
33 Partis donc de la montagne du Seigneur, ils firent le chemin de trois journées, et l’arche d’alliance du Seigneur les précédait, montrant pendant trois jours le lieu du camp.
So they marched from the mount of the Lord three days’ journey, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them, for three days providing a place for the camp.
34 La nuée du Seigneur aussi les couvrait pendant le jour, lorsqu’ils marchaient.
The cloud also of the Lord was over them by day when they marched.
35 Et lorsqu’on élevait l’arche, Moïse disait: Levez-vous, Seigneur, que vos ennemis soient dissipés, et qu’ils fuient devant votre face, ceux qui vous haïssent.
And when the ark was lifted up, Moses said: Arise, O Lord, and let thy enemies be scattered, and let them that hate thee, flee from before thy face.
36 Et lorsqu’on la posait, il disait: Revenez, Seigneur, à la multitude de l’armée d’Israël.
And when it was set down, he said: Return, O Lord, to the multitude of the host of Israel.
