Matthieu 12
1 En ce temps-là, Jésus passait le long des blés un jour de sabbat, et ses disciples ayant faim se mirent à cueillir des épis et à les manger.
In that season, went Jesus, on, the sabbath, through the cornfields, —and, his disciples, hungered, and began to pluck ears of corn, and to eat.
2 Les pharisiens voyant cela lui dirent: Voilà que vos disciples font ce qu’il n’est pas permis de faire aux jours du sabbat.
But, the Pharisees, observing it, said unto him, Lo! thy disciples, are doing what is not allowed to do, on sabbath.
3 Mais il leur dit: N’avez-vous point lu ce que fit David, lorsqu’il eut faim, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui?
And he said unto them, have ye never read what, David, did, when he hungered, and they who were with him? how
4 Comme il entra dans la maison de Dieu, et mangea les pains de proposition qu’il ne lui était pas permis de manger, ni à ceux qui étaient avec lui, mais aux prêtres seuls?
he entered into the house of God and, the presence-bread, did eat, which it was not, allowable, for him to eat, nor for them who were with him, —save for the priests, alone?
5 Ou n’avez-vous pas lu dans la loi, qu’aux jours du sabbat les prêtres, dans le temple, violent le sabbat et sont sans péché?
Or have ye not read, in the law, that, on the sabbaths, the priests, in the temple, the sabbath, profane, and are, blameless?
6 Or, je vous dis qu’il y a ici quelqu’un de plus grand que le temple.
But I say unto you, —Something greater than the Temple, is here!
7 Et si vous compreniez ce que signifie: Je veux la miséricorde et non le sacrifice, vous n’auriez jamais condamné les innocents.
If, however, ye had known what this meaneth—Mercy, I desire, and not, sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the blameless;
8 Car le Fils de l’homme est maître du sabbat même.
For, the Son of Man, is, Lord of the Sabbath.
9 Etant parti de là, il vint dans leur synagogue.
And, passing on from thence, he came into their synagogue;
10 Or, voilà qu’un homme avait la main desséchée, et ils l’interrogeaient, disant: Est-il permis de guérir les jours de sabbat? afin de l’accuser.
and lo! a man having, a withered hand, and they questioned him, saying, Is it allowable, on the sabbath, to heal? that they might accuse him.
11 Mais il leur répondit: Quel sera l’homme d’entre vous qui, ayant une brebis, si cette brebis tombe dans une fosse le jour du sabbat, ne la prendra pas pour l’en retirer?
And said unto them, What man, from among yourselves, [shall there be], —Who shall have one sheep, and, if this should fall, on the sabbath, into a pit, will not lay hold of it, and raise it?
12 Or combien un homme vaut mieux qu’une brebis? Il est donc permis de faire le bien les jours de sabbat.
How much better, then, a man, than, a sheep? So that it is allowable, on the sabbath, nobly, to act.
13 Alors il dit à cet homme: Étends ta main. Il l’étendit, et elle devint saine comme l’autre.
Then saith he unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand! And he stretched it forth, —and it was restored, whole, as the other.
14 Cependant les Pharisiens étant sortis tinrent conseil contre lui comment ils le perdraient.
And the Pharisees, going forth, took, counsel, against him, to the end that, him, they might destroy.
15 Mais Jésus, le sachant, partit de là, et beaucoup le suivirent et il les guérit tous.
But, Jesus, taking note, retired from thence, —and many followed him, and he cured them all;
16 Et il leur ordonna de ne point le révéler.
and straitly charged them, lest they should make him, manifest:
17 Afin que fût accomplie la parole du prophète Isaïe, disant:
that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: —
18 Voici mon serviteur que j’ai choisi, l’objet de ma dilection, en qui mon âme a mis toutes ses complaisances. Je ferai reposer mon esprit sur lui, et il annoncera la justice aux nations.
Lo! my servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom, my soul, delighteth, —I will put my Spirit upon him, and, justice, unto the nations, will he report:
19 Il ne disputera point, il ne criera point, et personne n’entendra sa voix dans les places publiques.
He will not strive, nor will he cry out, nor shall any hear, in the broadways, his voice:
20 Il n’achèvera pas de rompre un roseau à demi brisé, et n’éteindra point une mèche encore fumante, jusqu’à ce qu’il assure le triomphe de la justice.
A bruised cane, will he not break, and, a smoking wick, will he not quench, —until he urge on, justice, to victory,
21 Et les nations espéreront en son nom.
And, in his name, shall nations hope.
22 Alors on lui présenta un démoniaque, aveugle et muet, et il le guérit, en sorte qu’il parlait et voyait.
Then they brought unto him, one demonized, blind and dumb, —and he cured him, so that the dumb did speak and see.
23 Et tout le peuple, frappé de stupéfaction, disait: N’est-ce point là le Fils de David?
And all the multitudes were beside themselves, and were saying, Can, this one, be, the Son of David?
24 Or, entendant cela, les pharisiens disaient: Celui-ci ne chasse les démons que par Béelzébub, prince des démons.
But, the Pharisees, hearing it, said, This one, doth not cast out the demons, save in Beelzebul ruler of the demons.
25 Mais, Jésus connaissant leurs pensées, leur dit: Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même sera ruiné, et toute ville ou maison divisée contre elle-même ne subsistera pas.
And, knowing their inward thoughts, he said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself, is laid waste, —and, no city or house divided against itself, will stand;
26 Que si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même; comment donc son royaume subsistera-t-il?
And, if, Satan, is casting, Satan, out, against himself, hath he become divided, —How then shall, his kingdom, stand?
27 Et si moi je chasse les démons par Béelzébub, par qui vos enfants les chassent-ils? C’est pourquoi ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges.
And, if, I, in Beelzebul, am casting out the demons, In whom are, your sons, casting them out? Wherefore, they, shall be, judges of you.
28 Mais si je chasse les démons par l’esprit de Dieu, le royaume de Dieu est donc parvenu jusqu’à vous.
But, if, in God’s Spirit, I, am casting out the demons, then doubtless hath come upon you unawares, the kingdom of God!
29 D’ailleurs, comment quelqu’un peut-il entrer dans la maison du fort et enlever ce qu’il possède, si auparavant il ne lie le fort? C’est alors qu’il pillera sa maison.
Or how can one enter the house of the mighty and, seize his goods, unless, first, he bind the mighty one? and, then, his house, he will plunder.
30 Qui n’est pas avec moi est contre moi, et qui ne rassemble pas avec moi, disperse.
He that is no with me, is, against me, —and, he that gathereth not with me, scattereth
31 C’est pourquoi je vous dis: Tout péché et tout blasphème sera remis aux hommes; mais le blasphème contre l’Esprit ne sera point remis.
Wherefore, I say unto you, All sin and profane speaking, shall be forgiven unto men, —but, the speaking profanely of the Spirit, shall not be forgiven;
32 Et quiconque aura parlé contre le Fils de l’homme, il lui sera remis, mais si quelqu’un a parlé contre l’Esprit-Saint, il ne lui sera remis, ni en ce siècle, ni dans le siècle avenir. (aiōn g165)
And, whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him, —but, whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or the coming. (aiōn g165)
33 Ou estimez l’arbre bon et le fruit bon; ou estimez l’arbre mauvais et le fruit mauvais; car c’est par le fruit qu’on connaît l’arbre.
Either make the tree good, and its fruit good, or make the tree worthless, and its fruit worthless; for, from the fruit, the tree is known.
34 Race de vipères, comment pouvez-vous dire de bonnes choses, puisque vous êtes mauvais? C’est, en effet, de l’abondance du cœur que la bouche parle.
Broods of vipers! How can ye speak, good things, being, evil? For, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.
35 L’homme bon tire du bon trésor de bonnes choses, et l’homme mauvais tire du mauvais trésor de mauvaises choses.
The good man, out of the good treasure, putteth forth, good things; and, the evil man, out of the evil treasure, putteth forth, evil things.
36 Or je vous dis que toute parole oiseuse que les hommes auront dite ils en rendront compte au jour du jugement.
But I say unto you, That, every useless expression that men shall utter, they shall render, concerning it, an account, in a day of judgment;
37 Car c’est par tes paroles que tu seras justifié et par tes paroles que tu seras condamné.
For, by thy words, shalt thou be, justified, and, by thy words, shalt thou be condemned.
38 Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des pharisiens prirent la parole après lui, disant: Maître, nous voulons voir un miracle de vous.
Then, answered him, certain of the Scribes and Pharisees, saying, Teacher! we desire of thee, a sign, to behold.
39 Jésus, répondant, leur dit: Une génération méchante et adultère demande un miracle, et il ne lui sera donné d’autre miracle que celui du prophète Jonas.
But, he, answering, said unto them, A wicked and adulterous generation, a sign, doth seek, and, a sign, will not be, given, it, save the sign of Jonah the prophet.
40 Car comme Jonas fut trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre du poisson, ainsi le Fils de l’homme sera dans le sein de la terre trois jours et trois nuits.
For, just as was Jonah in the belly of the sea-monster three days and three nights, so, will be the Son of Man, in the heart of the earth, three days and three nights.
41 Les Ninivites se lèveront au jugement avec cette génération et la condammeront, parce qu’ils firent pénitence à la prédication de Jonas, et cependant il y a ici plus que Jonas.
Men of Nineveh, will rise up in the judgment, with this generation, and will condemn it, —because they repented into the proclamation of Jonah; and lo! something greater than Jonah, here.
42 La reine du Midi se lèvera au jugement avec cette génération, et la condamnera, parce qu’elle vint des extrémités de la terre écouter la sagesse de Salomon; et cependant il y a ici plus que Salomon.
The queen of the south, will arise in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it—because she came out of the ends of the earth, to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and lo! something greater than Solomon, here.
43 Lorsque l’esprit impur est sorti d’un homme, il s’en va errant en des lieux arides, cherchant du repos, et il n’en trouve point.
But, when the impure spirit goeth out of the man, it passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, —and findeth it not.
44 Alors il dit: Je retournerai dans ma maison d’où je suis sorti, et y revenant, il la trouve libre, purifiée de ce qui la souillait et ornée.
Then, it saith, Into my house, will I return whence I came out, —and, coming, findeth it empty [and] swept and adorned.
45 Alors il va et prend sept autres esprits plus mauvais que lui, et entrant, ils y demeurent; et le dernier état de cet homme est pire que le premier. Ainsi en sera-t-il de cette génération perverse.
Then, it goeth, and taketh along with itself, seven diverse spirits, more wicked than itself, —and, entering, abideth there; and, the last state of that man, becometh, worse than the first. So, shall it be, with this, wicked, generation.
46 Lorsqu’il parlait encore au peuple, voilà que sa mère et ses frères étaient dehors, cherchant à lui parler.
While yet he was speaking unto the multitudes, lo! his mother and brethren, were standing without, seeking to speak with him.
47 Quelqu’un lui dit: Voilà votre mère et vos frères qui sont dehors et qui vous cherchent.
[And one said to him, Lo! thy mother and thy brethren, without, are standing, seeking, to speak, with thee.]
48 Mais, répondant à celui qui lui parlait, il dit: Qui est ma mère et qui sont mes frères?
But, he, answering, said unto him that was telling him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
49 Et étendant la main vers ses disciples, il dit: Voici ma mère et mes frères.
And, stretching forth his hand towards his disciples, he said, Lo! my mother and my brethren!
50 Car quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, celui-là est mon frère et ma sœur et ma mère.
For, whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in the heavens, he, is my, brother, and sister, and mother.
