Marc 9
1 Il leur disait encore: En vérité, je vous le dis, il y en a parmi ceux ici présents qui ne goûteront pas de la mort, qu’ils n’aient vu le royaume de Dieu venant dans sa puissance.
AND he said unto them, I tell you of a certainty, that there are some standing here who shall not taste of death, until they see the kingdom of God come with power.
2 Six jours après, Jésus prit Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et il les conduisit seuls à l’écart sur une haute montagne, et il fut transfiguré devant eux.
And six days after Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, only, and carrieth them up with him into an exceeding high mountain in great privacy; and was transfigured before them.
3 Ses vêtements devinrent resplendissants et très blancs comme la neige, d’une blancheur telle, qu’aucun foulon sur la terre ne pourrait l’égaler.
His garments became glistering, exceeding white, like snow; such as no fuller upon earth can whiten.
4 Et Elie leur apparut avec Moïse; et ils s’entretenaient avec Jésus.
And there appeared to him Elias with Moses: and they were conversing with Jesus.
5 Alors, prenant la parole, Pierre dit à Jésus: Maître, il nous est bon d’être ici. Faisons trois tentes, une pour vous, une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie.
Then Peter addressing him, said unto him, Master, it is desirable for us to be here: and let us erect three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
6 Car il ne savait ce qu’il disait, parce qu’ils étaient saisis de crainte.
For he knew not what he should say: for they were very much affrighted.
7 Cependant il se fit une nuée qui les couvrit de son ombre; et il vint de la nuée une voix disant: Celui-ci est mon fils bien-aimé; écoutez-le.
And there came a cloud overshadowing them: and there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
8 Et aussitôt, regardant tout autour, ils ne virent plus personne, si ce n’est Jésus seul avec eux.
And instantly looking round, they saw no man any longer with them, but Jesus only.
9 Mais lorsqu’ils descendaient de la montagne, il leur commanda de ne raconter à personne ce qu’ils avaient vu, jusqu’à ce que le Fils de l’homme fût ressuscité d’entre les morts.
And as they were coming down from the mountain, he strictly charged them, that they should tell no man what they had seen, till after the Son of man should have arisen from the dead.
10 Et ils gardèrent cette parole en eux-mêmes, se demandant ce que voulait dire: Jusqu’à ce qu’il fût ressuscité d’entre les morts.
And they caught at that word, considering among themselves what this rising from the dead could mean.
11 Et ils l’interrogeaient, disant: Pourquoi donc les pharisiens et les scribes disent-ils qu’il faut qu’Elie vienne auparavant?
And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes, that Elias must come first?
12 Jésus répondant, leur dit: Elie viendra auparavant, et il rétablira toutes choses; et, comme il est écrit du Fils de l’homme, il faudra qu’il souffre beaucoup et qu’il soit rejeté avec mépris.
Then he answering said unto them, Elias indeed cometh first, and will reform all things; and how speaks the scripture of the Son of man? That he must suffer many things, and be treated with contempt.
13 Mais je vous dis qu’Elie est déjà venu (et ils lui ont fait tout ce qu’ils ont voulu), ainsi qu’il est écrit de lui.
But I say unto you, that Elias is come, and they have done to him whatsoever they chose, as it is written of him.
14 Et venant vers ses disciples, il vit une grande foule autour d’eux, et des scribes disputant avec eux.
And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great crowd around them, and the scribes disputing with them.
15 Aussitôt tout le peuple apercevant Jésus, fut saisi d’étonnement et de frayeur; et, accourant, ils le saluaient.
And immediately all the multitude, when they beheld him, were struck with amazement, and coming to him, saluted him.
16 Alors il leur demanda: De quoi disputez-vous ensemble?
And he asked the scribes, What are ye disputing about among yourselves?
17 Et un homme de la foule prenant la parole, dit: Maître, je vous ai amené mon fils, qui a en lui un esprit muet;
And one of the people addressing him, said, Master, I have brought my son to thee, who hath a dumb spirit;
18 Lequel, partout où il s’empare de lui, le brise contre terre, et l’enfant écume, grince des dents, et il se dessèche. J’ai dit à vos disciples de le chasser, mais ils ne l’ont pu.
and wherever he seizeth him, he throws him into strong convulsions: and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth, and pines away. And I spoke to thy disciples, that they should cast him out; and they were unable.
19 Jésus, s’adressant à eux, dit: Ô race incrédule, jusqu’à quand serai-je avec vous? jusqu’à quand vous supporterai-je? Amenez-le-moi.
Then addressing him, he said, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him to me.
20 Et ils le lui amenèrent. Or sitôt qu’il eut vu Jésus, l’esprit le tourmenta; et, brisé contre terre, il se roulait en écumant.
And they brought him unto him. And seeing him, instantly the spirit threw him into convulsions; and falling to the ground, he rolled about, foaming at the mouth.
21 Jésus demanda à son père: Combien y a-t-il de temps que cela lui arrive? Depuis son enfance, dit le père.
And he asked his father, For how long a time hath this been the case with him? And he replied, From his infancy.
22 Souvent il l’a jeté dans le feu et dans l’eau pour le faire périr; mais si vous pouvez quelque chose, ayez pitié de nous et secourez-nous.
And often it hath cast him into the fire, and into water, to destroy him: but if thou art able, have compassion upon us, and help us.
23 Jésus lui dit: Si tu peux croire, tout est possible à celui qui croit.
Then said Jesus unto him, This is the point: if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 Et aussitôt le père de l’enfant s’écria, disant avec larmes: Je crois, Seigneur; aidez mon incrédulité.
And immediately the father of the child said with tears, I believe, Lord! help my unbelief!
25 Et Jésus voyant une foule qui accourait, menaça l’esprit impur, lui disant: Esprit sourd et muet, je te le commande, sors de cet enfant et n’y rentre plus.
Then Jesus, seeing that the multitude were running up to him, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter into him no more.
26 Et poussant un grand cri et le déchirant violemment, il sortit de l’enfant qui devint comme mort; de sorte que beaucoup disaient: Il est mort.
And screaming, and convulsing him violently, it came out: and the child lay as if dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 Mais Jésus, prenant sa main et le soulevant, il se leva.
But Jesus taking him by the hand, raised him up; and he arose.
28 Et lorsque Jésus fut entré dans une maison, ses disciples lui demandèrent en secret: Pourquoi, nous, n’avons-nous pu le chasser?
And when he was come into the house, the disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast it out?
29 Il leur dit: Ce genre de démons ne peut se chasser que par la prière et le jeûne.
And he said to them, this kind can be driven out by nothing but prayer and fasting.
30 Etant partis de là, ils traversèrent la Galilée; et il ne voulait pas que personne le sût.
And going from thence, they passed through Galilee: and he would not have any person know it.
31 Cependant il instruisait ses disciples, et leur disait: Le Fils de l’homme sera livré entre les mains des hommes, et ils le tueront, et le troisième jour après sa mort, il ressuscitera.
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him: and after being killed, the third day he shall rise again.
32 Mais ils ne comprenaient point cette parole, et ils craignaient de l’interroger.
But they understood not the meaning of that declaration, and were afraid to ask him.
33 Ils vinrent ensuite à Capharnaüm; et, lorsqu’ils furent dans la maison, il leur demanda: Que discutiez-vous en chemin?
And he came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house, he asked them, What was the subject of your dispute among yourselves on the road?
34 Et ils se taisaient, parce que dans le chemin ils avaient disputé ensemble qui d’entre eux était le plus grand.
But they held their peace. For they had been disputing with each other on the road, which was the greatest.
35 Et, s’étant assis, il appela les douze, et leur dit: Si quelqu’un veut être le premier, il sera le dernier de tous et le serviteur de tous.
And when he was seated, he called the twelve, and saith to them, If any man desires to be the first, let him be last of all, and servant of all.
36 Puis, prenant un enfant, il le mit au milieu d’eux; et après l’avoir embrassé, il leur dit:
And taking a little boy, he set him in the midst of them: and taking him in his arms, he said unto them,
37 Quiconque reçoit en mon nom un petit enfant comme celui-ci, me reçoit; et quiconque me reçoit, reçoit non pas moi, mais celui qui m’a envoyé.
Whosoever shall receive one of such little children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth not me merely, but him that sent me.
38 Jean, prenant la parole, lui dit: Maître, nous avons vu quelqu’un qui chassait les démons en votre nom, et qui ne nous suit pas, et nous l’en avons empêché.
Then John addressed him, saying, Master, we saw a person in thy name casting out devils, who followeth us not: and we forbad him, because he did not follow us.
39 Mais Jésus leur répondit: Ne l’en empêchez point; car il n’y a personne qui fasse un miracle en mon nom, et qui puisse incontinent mal parler de moi;
Then said Jesus, Forbid him not: for there is no man who shall perform a miracle in my name, who will be able presently after to speak evil of me.
40 Car qui n’est pas contre vous, est pour vous.
For he that is not against us, is for us.
41 Et quiconque vous donnera un verre d’eau en mon nom, parce que vous êtes au Christ, en vérité, je vous le dis, il ne perdra point sa récompense.
For whosoever shall give you even a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to the Messiah, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
42 Mais quiconque scandalisera un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui que l’on mît autour de son cou une meule de moulin, et qu’on le jetât dans la mer.
And whosoever shall give occasion of offence to one of these little ones who believe in me, it were desirable for him rather that a milestone were hanged about his neck, and that he were cast into the sea.
43 Que si votre main vous scandalise, coupez-la: il vaut mieux pour vous entrer dans la vie, privé d’une main, que d’aller, ayant deux mains, dans la géhenne du feu qui ne peut s’éteindre, (Geenna g1067)
And if thy hand cause thee to offend, cut it off: it were better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having both hands to go into hell, into the fire that never will be quenched: (Geenna g1067)
44 Où leur ver ne meurt point, et leur feu ne s’éteint pas.
where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45 Et si votre pied vous scandalise, coupez-le: il vaut mieux pour vous entrer, privé d’un pied, dans la vie éternelle, que d’être jeté, ayant deux pieds, dans la géhenne du feu qui ne peut s’éteindre, (Geenna g1067)
And if thy foot cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life halting, than having both feet to be cast into hell, into the fire which never can be quenched: (Geenna g1067)
46 Où leur ver ne meurt point, et leur feu ne s’éteint pas.
where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 Que si votre œil vous scandalise, arrachez-le: il vaut mieux pour vous entrer, privé d’un œil, dans le royaume de Dieu, que d’être jeté, ayant deux yeux, dans la géhenne du feu, (Geenna g1067)
And if thine eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into the fire of hell: (Geenna g1067)
48 Où leur ver ne meurt point, et leur feu ne s’éteint pas.
where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
49 Car tous seront salés par le feu, comme toute victime doit être salée par le sel.
For every one shall be salted with fire, and every victim shall be sprinkled with salt.
50 Le sel est bon; mais si le sel perd sa vertu, avec quoi l’assaisonnerez-vous? Ayez du sel en vous, et conservez la paix entre vous.
Salt is good: but if the salt become insipid, with what will you season it? have salt in yourselves, and live in peace with each other.
