Malachie 3
1 Voici que moi j’envoie mon ange, et il préparera la voie devant ma face. Et aussitôt viendra dans son temple le dominateur que vous cherchez, et l’ange de l’alliance que vous désirez. Voici qu’il vient, dit le Seigneur des armées;
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall clear out the way before me: and suddenly will come to his temple the Lord, whom ye seek; and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye desire for, behold, he is coming, saith the Lord of hosts.
2 Et qui pourra penser au jour de son avènement, et qui en soutiendra la vue? Car il sera comme un feu qui fond les métaux, et comme une herbe de foulons.
But who can sustain the day of his coming? and who can stand when he appeareth? for he is like the fire of the melter, and like the lye of the washers:
3 Et il sera assis fondant et épurant l’argent; et il purifiera les fils de Lévi, et il les roulera comme l’or et l’argent, et ils offriront au Seigneur des sacrifices dans la justice.
And he will sit as a melter and purifier of silver; and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness
4 Et le sacrifice de Juda et de Jérusalem sera agréable au Seigneur, comme aux jours des siècles passés, et comme dans les années anciennes.
And then shall be pleasant unto the Lord the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
5 Et je viendrai à vous en jugement, et je serai un témoin empressé contre les magiciens, les adultères et les parjures, et ceux qui commettent des injustices dans le salaire du mercenaire, envers les veuves et les orphelins, et qui oppriment l’étranger, et qui ne m’ont pas craint, dit le Seigneur des armées.
And I will come near unto you to [hold] judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against those that swear falsely, and against those that withhold the wages of the hired laborer, [oppress] the widow, and the fatherless, and that do injustice to the stranger, and fear me not, saith the Lord of hosts.
6 Car je suis le Seigneur, et je ne change point; et vous, fils de Jacob, vous n’avez pas été consumés.
For I the Lord, —I have not changed: and ye sons of Jacob—ye have not ceased to be.
7 Car dès les jours de vos pères, vous vous êtes écartés de mes lois, vous ne les avez pas gardées. Revenez à moi, et je reviendrai à vous, dit le Seigneur des armées. Et vous avez dit: Comment reviendrons-nous?
From the days of your fathers did ye depart from my statutes, and did not keep them; return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts; but ye say, Wherein shall we return?
8 Un homme affligera-t-il Dieu? car vous m’avez outragé, et vous avez dit: En quoi vous avons-nous outragé? Dans les dîmes et les prémices.
Can a man rob God, that ye will rob me? But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and in heave-offerings.
9 Et vous avez été maudits dans la pénurie, et vous m’outragez, vous, la nation entière.
With the curse are ye cursed, and yet me do ye rob, O ye entire nation!
10 Apportez toute la dîme dans mon grenier, et qu’il y ait de la nourriture dans ma maison, et éprouvez-moi en cela, dit le Seigneur: vous verrez si je n’ouvre pas les sources du ciel, et si je ne répands pas sur vous la bénédiction jusqu’à l’abondance.
Bring ye all the tithes into the store-house, that there may be provision in my house, and prove me but herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing, until it be more than enough.
11 Et je menacerai en votre faveur l’insecte dévorant, et il ne détruira pas le fruit de votre terre; et la vigne ne sera pas stérile dans les champs, dit le Seigneur des armées.
And I will rebuke for you the devourer, and he shall not destroy for you the fruit of the ground: and the vine shall not cast its fruit for you before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
12 Et toutes les nations vous diront bien heureux: car vous serez vous-mêmes une terre délicieuse, dit le Seigneur des armées.
And all the nations shall call you blessed; for ye shall be a land of delight, saith the Lord of hosts.
13 Vos paroles ont pris de la force contre moi, dit le Seigneur.
Your words have been strong against me, saith the Lord; but ye say, What have we spoken among us against thee?
14 Et vous avez dit: Qu’avons-nous dit contre vous? Vous avez dit: Vain est celui qui sert Dieu; et quel a été notre avantage pour avoir gardé ses préceptes et pour avoir marché tristes devant le Seigneur des armées?
Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked contritely before the Lord of hosts?
15 Maintenant donc nous disons heureux les arrogants, puisqu’ils se sont établis en commettant l’impiété, et ils ont tenté Dieu, et ils ont été sauvés.
And now we call the presumptuous happy: yea, built up are those that practise wickedness; yea, they have even tempted God and are [yet] suffered to escape.
16 Alors ceux qui craignent le Seigneur ont parlé chacun avec son prochain; et le Seigneur a été attentif, et il a écouté; et il a été écrit un livre de souvenir devant lui pour ceux qui craignent le Seigneur et qui méditent son nom.
Then conversed they that fear the Lord one with the other: and the Lord listened and heard it, and there was written a book of remembrance before him for those who fear the Lord, and for those who respect his name.
17 Et ils seront, dit le Seigneur, mon bien particulier, au jour auquel j’agirai; et je les épargnerai comme un père épargne son fils qui le sert.
And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, on that day which I create as a special treasure: and I will spare them, as a man spareth his son that serveth him.
18 Et vous vous convertirez, et vous verrez la différence qu’il y a entre le juste et l’impie, et entre celui qui sert Dieu et celui qui ne le sert pas.
And ye shall return, and see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that hath not served him.
