Luc 6
1 Or, il arriva qu’un jour de sabbat, second-premier, comme Jésus passait par les blés, ses disciples arrachaient les épis et en mangeaient, en les froissant dans leurs mains.
Now it came to pass on a sabbath, that he was going through the cornfields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
2 Quelques-uns des pharisiens leur disaient: Pourquoi faites-vous ce qui n’est point permis les jours du sabbat?
But certain of the Pharisees said, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day?
3 Jésus leur répondant, dit: N’avez-vous point lu ce que fit David lorsqu’il eut faim, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui;
And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read even this, what David did, when he was an hungred, he, and they that were with him;
4 Comment il entra dans la maison de Dieu, et prit les pains de proposition, en mangea, et en donna à ceux qui étaient avec lui, quoiqu’il ne soit pas permis d’en manger, si ce n’est aux prêtres?
how he entered into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests alone?
5 Et il ajouta: Le Fils de l’homme est maître même du sabbat.
And he said unto them, The Son of man is lord of the sabbath.
6 Il arriva, un autre jour de sabbat, qu’il entra dans la synagogue, et qu’il y enseignait. Or il y avait là un homme dont la main droite était desséchée.
And it came to pass on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.
7 Et les scribes et les pharisiens observaient s’il le guérirait le jour du sabbat, afin de trouver de quoi l’accuser.
And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find how to accuse him.
8 Mais il connaissait leurs pensées; il dit à l’homme qui avait la main desséchée: Lève-toi et tiens-toi là debout au milieu. Et, se levant, il se tint debout.
But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
9 Alors Jésus leur dit: Je vous le demande, est-il permis, les jours du sabbat, de faire du bien ou du mal, de sauver une âme ou de la perdre?
And Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to destroy it?
10 Et après les avoir regardés tous, il dit à l’homme: Etends ta main. Il retendit, et sa main redevint saine.
And he looked round about on them all, and said unto him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did [so]: and his hand was restored.
11 Mais eux, remplis de dépit, se consultaient sur ce qu’ils feraient à Jésus.
But they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
12 Il arriva qu’en ces jours-là il se retira sur la montagne pour prier, et y passa toute la nuit à prier Dieu.
And it came to pass in these days, that he went out into the mountain to pray; and he continued all night in prayer to God.
13 Et quand le jour fut venu, il appela ses disciples, et il en choisit douze d’entre eux (qu’il nomma aussi apôtres):
And when it was day, he called his disciples: and he chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles;
14 Simon, auquel il donna le surnom de Pierre, et André son frère; Jacques et Jean; Philippe et Barthélemi;
Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew,
15 Matthieu et Thomas; Jacques, fils d’Alphée, et Simon, appelé le Zélé;
and Matthew and Thomas, and James [the son] of Alphaeus, and Simon which was called the Zealot,
16 Judas, frère de Jacques, et Judas Iscariote, qui fut le traître.
and Judas [the son] of James, and Judas Iscariot, which was the traitor;
17 Et, descendant avec eux, il s’arrêta dans une plaine, de même que la troupe de ses disciples, et une grande multitude de peuple de toute la Judée, de Jérusalem, de la contrée maritime, de Tyr et de Sidon,
and he came down with them, and stood on a level place, and a great multitude of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judaea and Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
18 Qui étaient venus pour l’entendre et pour être guéris de leurs maladies. Or ceux aussi qui étaient tourmentés par des esprits impurs, étaient guéris.
and they that were troubled with unclean spirits were healed.
19 Et toute la foule cherchait à le toucher, parce qu’une vertu sortait de lui, et les guérissait tous.
And all the multitude sought to touch him: for power came forth from him, and healed [them] all.
20 Alors Jésus, les yeux levés sur ses disciples, dit: Bienheureux, ô pauvres! parce qu’à vous appartient le royaume de Dieu.
And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed [are] ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Bienheureux, vous qui maintenant avez faim, parce que vous serez rassasiés. Bienheureux, vous qui pleurez maintenant, parce que vous rirez,
Blessed [are] ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed [are] ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
22 Vous serez heureux lorsque les hommes vous haïront, vous éloigneront, vous injurieront, et rejetteront votre nom comme mauvais, à cause du Fils de l’homme.
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from their company], and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
23 Réjouissez-vous en ce jour-là, et tressaillez d’allégresse, parce que votre récompense est grande dans le ciel; car c’est ainsi que leurs pères faisaient aux prophètes.
Rejoice in that day, and leap [for joy]: for behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the same manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
24 Cependant, malheur à vous, riches, parce que vous avez votre consolation.
But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
25 Malheur à vous qui êtes rassasiés, parce que vous aurez faim. Malheur à vous qui riez maintenant, parce que vous gémirez et vous pleurerez.
Woe unto you, ye that are full now! for ye shall hunger. Woe [unto you], ye that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
26 Malheur, quand les hommes vous loueront, car c’est ainsi que leurs pères faisaient aux faux prophètes.
Woe [unto you], when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets.
27 Mais je vous dis, à vous qui écoutez: Aimez vos ennemis, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent.
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you,
28 Bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, et priez pour ceux qui vous calomnient.
bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.
29 À quiconque vous frappe sur une joue, présentez encore l’autre. Et pour celui qui vous prend votre manteau, laissez-le prendre votre tunique.
To him that smiteth thee on the [one] cheek offer also the other; and from him that taketh away thy cloke withhold not thy coat also.
30 Donnez à quiconque vous demande; et ne redemandez point votre bien à celui qui vous le ravit.
Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
31 Comme vous voulez que les hommes vous fassent, faites-le leur pareillement.
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 Si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quel est votre mérite? puisque les pécheurs aiment aussi ceux qui les aiment.
And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them.
33 Et si vous faites du bien à ceux qui vous en font, quel est votre mérite? puisque les pécheurs même le font.
And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same.
34 Et si vous prêtez à ceux de qui vous espérez recevoir, quel remerciement méritez-vous? car les pécheurs aussi prêtent aux pécheurs, pour en recevoir un pareil avantage.
And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.
35 Mais vous, aimez vos ennemis, faites du bien et prêtez, sans en rien espérer, et votre récompense sera grande, et vous serez les fils du Très-Haut; car il est bon pour les ingrats même et pour les méchants.
But love your enemies, and do [them] good, and lend, never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.
36 Soyez donc miséricordieux, comme votre Père est miséricordieux.
Be ye merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
37 Ne jugez point, et vous ne serez point jugés; ne condamnez point, et vous ne serez point condamnés; remettez, et il vous sera remis.
And judge not, and ye shall not be judged: and condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: release, and ye shall be released:
38 Donnez, et il vous sera donné; on versera dans votre sein une bonne mesure, pressée, bien remuée, et débordante. Car on usera pour vous de la même mesure dont vous aurez usé pour les autres.
give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again.
39 Il leur faisait aussi cette comparaison: Un aveugle peut-il conduire un aveugle? ne tomberont-ils pas tous deux dans une fosse?
And he spake also a parable unto them, Can the blind guide the blind? shall they not both fall into a pit?
40 Le disciple n’est point au-dessus du maître; mais tout disciple sera parfait, s’il est comme son maître.
The disciple is not above his master: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his master.
41 Pourquoi voyez-vous la paille dans l’œil de votre frère, et n’apercevez-vous point la poutre qui est dans votre œil?
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
42 Ou comment pouvez-vous dire à votre frère: Mon frère, laisse-moi ôter la paille de ton œil, ne voyant pas toi-même la poutre qui est dans le tien? Hypocrite, ôte premièrement la poutre de ton œil, et alors tu verras à ôter la paille de l’œil de ton frère.
Or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me cast out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.
43 Un arbre n’est pas bon s’il produit de mauvais fruits, et un arbre n’est pas mauvais s’il produit du bon fruit.
For there is no good tree that bringeth forth corrupt fruit; nor again a corrupt tree that bringeth forth good fruit.
44 Car chaque arbre se connaît par son fruit. On ne cueille point de figues sur des épines, et on ne vendange point du raisin sur des ronces.
For each tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 L’homme bon tire le bien du bon trésor de son cœur; et l’homme mauvais tire le mal du mauvais trésor. Car la bouche parle de l’abondance du cœur.
The good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and the evil [man] out of the evil [treasure] bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46 Mais pourquoi m’appelez-vous Seigneur, Seigneur, et ne faites point ce que je dis?
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Quiconque vient à moi, écoute mes paroles et les met en pratique, je vous montrerai à qui il est semblable.
Every one that cometh unto me, and heareth my words, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 Il est semblable à un homme qui, bâtissant une maison, a creusé très avant, et en a posé le fondement sur la pierre: l’inondation survenant, le fleuve s’est brisé contre cette maison, et n’a pu l’ébranler, parce qu’elle était fondée sur la pierre.
he is like a man building a house, who digged and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: because it had been well builded.
49 Mais celui qui écoute et ne pratique point, est semblable à un homme qui a bâti sa maison sur la terre, sans fondement: le fleuve s’est brisé contre elle, et elle s’est écroulée aussitôt; et la ruine de cette maison a été grande.
But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream brake, and straightway it fell in; and the ruin of that house was great.
