Luc 22
1 Cependant approchait la fête des azymes, qu’on appelle Pâque.
And the feast of the unleavened bread, which is called a Passover, was drawing near.
2 Et les princes des prêtres et les scribes cherchaient comment ils pourraient faire mourir Jésus; mais ils craignaient le peuple.
And the High-priests and the Scribes were seeking, how they might get rid of him; for they feared the people.
3 Or Satan entra dans Judas, qui était surnommé Iscariote, l’un des douze.
But Satan entered into Judas, him called Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve;
4 Et il s’en alla, et il conféra avec les princes des prêtres et les magistrats comment il le leur livrerait.
and, departing, he conversed with the High-priests and Captains, as to how, unto them, he might deliver him up.
5 Et ils se réjouirent, et convinrent de lui donner de l’argent.
And they rejoiced, and bargained with him to give him, silver;
6 Il s’engagea donc. Et dès lors il cherchait l’occasion de le livrer en l’absence du peuple.
and he freely consented, and began seeking a good opportunity for delivering him up, in the absence of a multitude, unto them.
7 Cependant vint le jour des azymes, où il était nécessaire d’immoler la pâque.
Now the day of the unleavened bread a came, —on which it was needful to be sacrificing the passover.
8 Jésus donc envoya Pierre et Jean, disant; Allez nous préparer la pâque, afin que nous la mangions.
And he sent forth Peter and John, saying—Go, and make ready, for us, the passover, that we may eat.
9 Mais eux lui demandèrent: Où voulez-vous que nous la préparions?
And, they, said unto him—Where wiliest thou, we should make ready?
10 Et il leur répondit: Voici qu’entrant dans la ville, vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d’eau; suivez-le dans la maison où il entrera;
And, he, said unto them—Lo! when ye have entered into the city, there will meet you a man, bearing, an earthen-jar of water: follow him into the house into which he is entering.
11 Et vous direz au père de famille de la maison: Le maître vous dit: Où est le lieu où je pourrai manger la pâque avec mes disciples?
And ye shall say unto the master of the house—The teacher saith unto thee, where is the lodging, where, the passover, with my disciples, I may eat?
12 Et il vous montrera un grand cénacle meublé; faites-y les préparatifs.
And, he, unto you, will shew, a large upper room, spread: there, make ready.
13 S’en allant donc, ils trouvèrent comme il leur avait dit, et ils préparèrent la pâque.
And, departing, they found according as he had said unto them, and made ready the passover.
14 Et quand l’heure fut venue, il se mit à table, et les douze apôtres avec lui.
And, when the hour arrived, he reclined, and the apostles with him.
15 Et il leur dit: J’ai désiré d’un grand désir de manger cette pâque avec vous, avant de souffrir.
And he said unto them—I have greatly desired, to eat, this passover, with you before I suffer;
16 Car je vous le dis, je ne la mangerai plus désormais, jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit accomplie dans le royaume de Dieu.
For, I say unto you—In nowise shall I eat it, until it have been fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 Et ayant pris le calice, il rendit grâces, et dit: Prenez, et partagez entre vous,
And, accepting a cup, giving thanks, he said—Take this, and divide among yourselves;
18 Car, je vous le dis, je ne boirai plus du fruit de la vigne, jusqu’à ce que le royaume de Dieu vienne.
For, I say unto you—In nowise shall I drink henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until, the kingdom of God, shall come.
19 Et ayant pris du pain, il rendit grâces et le rompit, et le leur donna, disant: Ceci est mon corps, qui est donné pour vous: faites ceci en mémoire de moi.
And, taking a loaf, he gave thanks, and brake, and gave unto them, saying—This is my body which in your behalf is being given: this, be ye doing, in remembrance, of me.
20 Il donna de la même manière le calice, après qu’il eut soupé, disant: C’est le calice, le nouveau testament en mon sang, qui sera répandu pour vous.
And—the cup, in like manner, after the taking of supper, saying—This cup, is the new covenant in my blood, which, in your behalf, is to be poured out.
21 Cependant, voici que la main de celui qui me trahit est avec moi à cette table.
Nevertheless, lo! the hand of him who is delivering me up, is with me upon the table.
22 Pour ce qui est du Fils de l’homme, il s’en va, selon ce qui a été déterminé; mais malheur à cet homme par qui il sera trahi!
Because, the Son of Man, indeed, according to what is marked out, goeth his way; nevertheless, alas! for that man through whom he is being delivered up.
23 Et ils commencèrent à se demander l’un à l’autre, qui était celui d’entre eux qui devait faire cela.
And, they, began to be enquiring together, among themselves, as to which, then, it could be, from among them, who, this thing, was about to perpetrate!
24 Il s’éleva aussi parmi eux une contestation, lequel d’entre eux devait être estimé le plus grand.
And it came to pass that there was, a rivalry also, among them, as to which of them seemed to be greater [than the rest].
25 Mais il leur dit: Les rois des nations les dominent, et ceux qui ont puissance sur elles sont appelés bienfaiteurs.
And, he, said unto them—The kings of the nations, lord it over them, and, they who wield authority over them, benefactors, are called.
26 Pour vous, ne faites pas ainsi; mais que celui qui est le plus grand parmi vous, soit comme le moindre, et celui qui a la préséance, comme celui qui sert.
But, ye, not so! On the contrary—the greater among you, Let him become as, the younger, and, he that governeth, as, he that ministereth,
27 Car lequel est le plus grand, celui qui est à table, ou celui qui sert? N’est-ce pas celui qui est à table? Or, moi, je suis au milieu de vous, comme celui qui sert.
For which is greater—he that reclineth? or he that ministereth? Is not he that reclineth? But, I, am, in your midst, as he that ministereth,
28 C’est vous qui êtes demeurés avec moi dans mes tentations.
Ye, however, are they who have remained throughout with me in my temptations;
29 Aussi moi, je vous prépare le royaume, comme mon Père me l’a préparé;
And, I, covenant unto you—as my Father hath covenanted unto me—a kingdom,
30 Afin que vous mangiez et buviez à ma table dans mon royaume, et que vous siégiez sur des trônes, pour juger les douze tribus d’Israël.
That ye may eat and drink, at my table, in my kingdom, and sit upon thrones, judging, the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 Le Seigneur dit encore: Simon, Simon, voilà que Satan vous a demandés pour vous cribler, comme le froment;
Simon! Simon! lo! Satan, hath claimed you, to sift as wheat;
32 Mais j’ai prié pour toi, afin que ta foi ne défaille point; et toi, quand tu seras converti, confirme tes frères.
But, I, have entreated for thee, that thy faith may not fail. And, thou, once thou hast turned, strengthen thy brethren.
33 Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, je suis prêt à aller avec vous, et en prison, et à la mort.
But, he, said unto him—Lord! with thee, am I, ready, both into prison and unto death, to be going.
34 Mais il lui répliqua: Je te le dis, Pierre, un coq aujourd’hui ne chantera point, que trois fois tu n’aies nié me connaître. Il leur dit ensuite:
And, he, said: I tell thee, Peter—A cock will not crow this day, until, thrice, thou deny that thou knowest me.
35 Quand je vous ai envoyés sans sac, sans bourse et sans chaussure, quelque chose vous a-t-il manqué?
And he said unto them—When I sent you forth, without purse or satchel or sandals, of anything, came ye short? And, they, said—Of nothing!
36 Ils répondirent: Rien. Il ajouta donc: Mais maintenant, que celui qui a un sac ou une bourse, les prenne; et que celui qui n’en a point, vende sa tunique, et achète une épée.
And he said unto them—But, now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, in like manner also, a satchel; and, he that hath nothing, let him sell his mantle, and buy a sword!
37 Car, je vous le dis, il faut que ceci encore qui a été écrit, s’accomplisse en moi: Il a été mis au rang des scélérats. Car ce qui me regarde touche à sa fin.
For I say unto you—This that is written, must needs be completed in me, —And, with lawless ones, was he reckoned; for, even that which concerneth me, hath, completion.
38 Mais eux lui dirent: Seigneur, voici deux épées. Il leur répondit: C’est assez.
And, they, said—Lord, lo! two swords, here! And, he, said unto them—’Tis, enough!
39 Et étant sorti, il alla, selon sa coutume, à la montagne des Oliviers; et ses disciples le suivirent.
And going out, he went, according to his custom, unto the Mount of Olives; and the disciples [also] followed him.
40 Lorsqu’il fut arrivé à son lieu accoutumé, il leur dit: Priez, de peur que vous n’entriez en tentation.
And, coming up to the place, he said unto them—Be praying, lest ye enter into temptation.
41 Puis il s’éloigna d’eux à la distance d’un jet de pierre; et, s’étant mis à genoux, il priait,
And, he, was torn from them about a stone’s throw; and, bending his knees, he began to pray,
42 Disant: Mon Père, si vous le voulez, éloignez ce calice de moi; cependant que ma volonté ne se fasse pas, mais la vôtre.
saying—Father! if thou please, bear aside this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but thine, be accomplished.
43 Alors lui apparut un ange du ciel, le fortifiant; et étant tombé en agonie, il priait encore plus.
And there appeared unto him a messenger from heaven, strengthening him, —
44 Et il lui vint une sueur, comme des gouttes de sang découlant jusqu’à terre.
and, coming to be in an agony, more intensely, was he praying; and his perspiration became, as if great drops of blood, falling upon the ground.
45 Et, s’étant levé de sa prière, il vint à ses disciples, et les trouva endormis par suite de leur tristesse.
And, arising from prayer, he came unto his disciples, and found them falling asleep by reason of their grief;
46 Et il leur dit: Pourquoi dormez-vous? Levez-vous, priez, de peur que vous n’entriez en tentation.
and he said unto them—Why are ye slumbering? Arise! and be praying, lest ye enter into temptation.
47 Jésus parlant encore, voici venir une troupe, et celui qui s’appelait Judas, l’un des douze, la précédait; et il s’approcha de Jésus pour le baiser.
While yet he was speaking, lo! a multitude; and, he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them on, —and he drew near unto Jesus, to kiss him.
48 Mais Jésus lui dit: Judas, c’est par un baiser que tu trahis le Fils de l’homme!
But, Jesus, said to him—Judas! with a kiss, the Son of Man, dost thou deliver up?
49 Or ceux qui étaient autour de lui, voyant ce qui allait arriver, lui dirent: Seigneur, si nous frappions de l’épée?
And they who were about him, seeing what would be, said—Lord! shall we smite with the sword?
50 Et l’un d’eux frappa le serviteur du grand prêtre, et lui coupa l’oreille droite.
And a certain one from among them smote, the High-priest’s, servant, and took off his right ear.
51 Mais Jésus prenant la parole, dit: Arrêtez-vous là. Et ayant touché son oreille, il le guérit.
But Jesus, answering, said—Let be—as long as this! …And, touching the ear, he healed him.
52 Puis Jésus dit à ceux qui étaient venus vers lui, princes des prêtres, magistrats du temple et anciens: Vous êtes sortis comme contre un voleur, avec des épées et des bâtons;
And Jesus said unto the High-priests, and Captains of the temple, and Elders, who had come against him—As against a robber, have ye come out, with swords and clubs?
53 Quand j’étais tous les jours avec vous dans le temple, vous n’avez pas mis la main sur moi; mais voici votre heure et la puissance des ténèbres.
Daily, was I with you, in the temple, and yet ye stretched not forth your hands against me! …But, this, is your hour, and the authority of darkness.
54 Se saisissant donc de lui, ils l’amenèrent à la maison du grand prêtre; mais Pierre le suivait de loin.
And, having arrested him, they led him away, and took him into the house of the High-priest; and, Peter, was following afar.
55 Or un feu ayant été allumé au milieu de la cour, et eux s’étant assis autour, Pierre se trouvait au milieu d’eux.
And, they having kindled up a fire in the midst of the court, and taken seats together, Peter was for sitting among them.
56 Une servante l’ayant vu assis devant le feu, et l’ayant regardé, dit: Celui-ci aussi était avec cet homme.
But, a certain maid-servant, seeing him seating himself towards the light, and looking steadfastly at him, said—This one also, was, with him.
57 Mais Pierre le nia, disant: Femme, je ne le connais point.
But, he, denied, saying—I know him not, woman!
58 Et peu après, un autre le voyant, dit: Toi aussi, tu es de ces gens-là. Mais Pierre dit: Homme, je n’en suis point.
And, after a little, another, beholding him, said—Thou also, art, from among them. But, Peter, said—Man! I am not.
59 Et un intervalle d’environ une heure s’étant écoulé, un autre l’affirmait, disant: Vraiment, celui-ci aussi était avec lui; car il est également Galiléen.
And, about one hour having passed, a certain other, began stoutly to insist, saying—Of a truth, this one also, was with him; for indeed he is, a Galilaean.
60 Et Pierre dit: Homme, je ne sais ce que tu dis. Et aussitôt, lui parlant encore, un coq chanta.
But Peter said—Man! I know not what thou art saying! And, instantly while yet he was speaking, a cock crew.
61 Et le Seigneur se retournant, regarda Pierre. Et Pierre se ressouvint de la parole du Seigneur, lorsqu’il lui avait dit; Avant qu’un coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois.
And the Lord turned, and looked at Peter; and Peter was put in mind of the declaration of the Lord, how he had said to him—Before, a cock, crow this day, thou wilt deny me thrice!
62 Et Pierre étant sorti, pleura amèrement.
[And, going forth outside, he wept bitterly.]
63 Et ceux qui tenaient Jésus le raillaient et le déchiraient de coups.
And, the men who held him bound, kept mocking him, with blows;
64 Puis, lui ayant bandé les yeux, ils le frappaient au visage, et l’interrogeaient, disant: Prophétise qui est celui qui t’a frappé?
and, blindfolding him, questioned him, saying—Prophesy! which is he that smote thee?
65 Et blasphémant ainsi, ils disaient beaucoup d’autres choses contre lui.
and, many other things, with profane speech, were they saying unto him.
66 Lorsque le jour se fit, les anciens du peuple, les princes des prêtres et les scribes s’assemblèrent, et le firent venir dans leur conseil, disant: Si tu es le Christ, dis-le-nous.
And, when it became day, the Eldership of the people was gathered together—both High-priests and Scribes, —and they led him away into their high-council, saying—If, thou, art the Christ, tell us!
67 Il leur répondit: Si je vous le dis, vous ne me croirez pas;
But he said unto them—If I should tell, you, in nowise would ye believe,
68 Et si je vous interroge, vous ne me répondrez pas, ni ne me renverrez.
And, if I should put questions, in nowise would ye answer;
69 Mais désormais le Fils de l’homme sera assis à la droite de la puissance de Dieu.
But, henceforth, shall the Son of Man be seated on the right hand of the power of God.
70 Alors ils dirent tous: Tu es donc le Fils de Dieu? Et Jésus répondit: Vous le dites, je le suis.
And they all said—Thou, then, art the Son of God? And, he, unto them said—Ye, say [it], —because, I, am.
71 Et eux repartirent: Qu’avons-nous besoin d’autre témoignage? Car nous-mêmes nous l’avons entendu de sa propre bouche.
And, they, said—What, further, need have we, of witness? We ourselves, have heard it from his mouth.
