Luc 18
1 Il leur proposait aussi cette parabole, sur ce qu’il faut toujours prier, et ne se lasser jamais.
And He spoke a parable to them that it behooves them to pray always, and not to faint;
2 Il y avait, disait-il, dans une certaine ville un juge qui ne craignait point Dieu, et ne se souciait point des hommes.
saying, There was a certain judge in a certain city, fearing not God, and regarding not man.
3 Or il y avait une veuve dans cette même ville, et elle venait à lui, disant: Faites-moi justice de mon adversaire.
And there was a widow in that city; and she continued to come to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 Et il ne le voulut pas pendant longtemps. Mais ensuite il dit en lui-même: Quoique je ne craigne point Dieu et ne me soucie point des hommes,
And he was not willing for a time: but after these things he said in himself, Though I fear not God nor regard man,
5 Cependant, parce que cette femme m’importune, je lui ferai justice, de peur qu’à la fin elle ne vienne me faire quelque affront.
yet because this widow causes me trouble, I will avenge her, lest coming forever she may smite me in the face.
6 Le Seigneur ajouta: Entendez ce que dit le juge d’iniquité:
But the Lord said, I fear what the unjust judge says.
7 Et Dieu ne vengera pas ses élus, qui crient vers lui jour et nuit, et il usera de délai pour eux?
And shall not God avenge His elect, crying to Him day and night, and He is long-suffering over them?
8 Je vous dis qu’il les vengera bientôt. Mais quand le Fils de l’homme viendra, pensez-vous qu’il trouve de la foi sur la terre?
I say unto you, that He will avenge them speedily. Moreover the Son of man having come, will He then find faith upon the earth?
9 Il dit encore cette parabole pour quelques-uns qui se confiaient en eux-mêmes comme étant justes, et méprisaient les autres:
And He spoke this parable to certain ones having confidence in themselves that they are righteous, and despising the rest.
10 Deux hommes montèrent au temple pour prier; un pharisien et un publicain.
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 Le pharisien, se tenant en avant, priait ainsi en lui-même: Ô Dieu, je vous rends grâces de ce que je ne suis pas comme le reste des hommes, qui sont voleurs, injustes, adultères; ni même comme ce publicain.
The Pharisee standing was praying in these words, God, I thank thee because I am not like the rest of the men, extortioners, unjust, adulterous, or even as this publican:
12 Je jeune deux fois la semaine; je paie la dîme de tout ce que je possède.
I fast twice per week; I give tithes of all things so many as I possess.
13 Et le publicain, se tenant éloigné, n’osait pas même lever les yeux au ciel; mais il frappait sa poitrine, disant: Ô Dieu, ayez pitié de moi qui suis un pécheur.
But the publican, standing a great way off, did not wish even to lift up his eyes to the heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me the sinner.
14 Je vous le dis, celui-ci s en retourna justifié dans sa maison, et non pas l’autre: car quiconque s’exalte sera humilié, et quiconque s’humilie sera exalté.
I say unto you, He went down to his house justified rather than the other: because every one exalting himself shall be abased; and the one humbling himself shall be exalted.
15 On lui portait aussi les petits enfants, pour qu’il les touchât. Ce que les disciples voyant, ils les rebutaient.
And they were indeed bringing the infants to Him, that He should touch them: but the disciples seeing rebuked them.
16 Mais Jésus les appelant, dit: Laissez les enfants venir à moi, et ne les empêchez point; car à de tels est le royaume de Dieu.
And Jesus calling them to Him, said, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 En vérité je vous le dis: Quiconque ne recevra point comme un enfant le royaume de Dieu, n’y entrera point.
Truly I say unto you, whosoever may not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, can not enter into it.
18 Un des principaux l’interrogea, disant: Bon maître, que ferai-je pour posséder la vie éternelle? (aiōnios g166)
And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, Good Teacher, having done what, shall I inherit eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
19 Jésus lui dit: Pourquoi m’appelles-tu bon? Nul n’est bon que Dieu seul.
And Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? No one is good, except One, God.
20 Tu connais les commandements: Tu ne tueras point: Tu ne commettras point d’adultère: Tu ne porteras point faux témoignage: Honore ton père et ta mère.
You know the commandments, thou must not commit adultery, thou must not murder, thou must not steal, thou must not bear false witness, honor thy father and mother.
21 Il répondit: J’ai observé tout cela depuis ma jeunesse.
And he said, All these things have I kept from my youth.
22 Ce qu’entendant, Jésus lui dit: Une chose encore te manque: vends tout ce que tu as et donne-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel: viens alors, et suis-moi.
And Jesus hearing these things, said to him, Still one thing is lacking to thee: Sell all things whatsoever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 Mais lui, ces paroles entendues, fut contristé, parce qu’il était fort riche.
And hearing these things, he went away very sorrowful; for he was exceedingly rich.
24 Or Jésus le voyant devenir triste, dit: Que ceux qui ont les richesses entreront difficilement dans le royaume de Dieu!
Jesus seeing him said, How hardly will those having riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 Il est plus facile à un chameau de passer par le chas d’une aiguille, qu’à un riche d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.
For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to go into the kingdom of God.
26 Ceux qui l’écoutaient demandèrent: Et qui peut donc être sauvé?
And those hearing said, And who is able to be saved?
27 Il leur répondit: Ce qui est impossible aux hommes est possible à Dieu.
And He said, Those things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
28 Alors Pierre dit: Et nous, voici que nous avons tout quitté pour vous suivre.
And Peter said, Behold, we have left all things, and followed thee.
29 Jésus leur répliqua: En vérité, je vous le dis, il n’est personne qui ait quitté ou maison, ou parents, ou frères, ou femme, ou enfants, à cause du royaume de Dieu,
And He said to them, Truly I say unto you, that there is no one who has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
31 Ensuite Jésus prit à parties douze et leur dit: Voici que nous montons à Jérusalem, et que s’accomplira tout ce qui a été écrit par les prophètes touchant le Fils de l’homme;
And taking the twelve aside, He said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things which have been written by the prophets shall be perfected to the Son of man.
32 Car il sera livré aux gentils, et raillé, et flagellé, et couvert de crachats;
For He will be delivered to the Gentiles; and be mocked, and insulted, and spat upon:
33 Et après qu’ils l’auront flagellé, ils le feront mourir, et le troisième jour, il ressuscitera.
and having scourged Him, they will kill Him; and He will arise the third day.
34 Mais les apôtres ne comprirent rien de ces choses, et cette parole leur était cachée; ainsi ils ne comprenaient point ce qui leur était dit.
And they understood none of these things; and this word was hidden from them, and they did not know the things spoken.
35 Or il arriva, lorsqu’il approchait de Jéricho, qu’un aveugle était assis au bord du chemin, mendiant.
And it came to pass, while He was drawing nigh to Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting by the wayside begging.
36 Et entendant la foule qui suivait le chemin, il demanda ce que c’était.
And hearing the multitude passing by, he inquired what it might be.
37 On lui dit que Jésus de Nazareth passait.
And they told him that Jesus the Nazarene is going along.
38 Alors il cria, disant: Jésus, fils de David, ayez pitié de moi!
And he cried out saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
39 Ceux qui allaient devant, le gourmandaient pour qu’il se tût. Mais il criait beaucoup plus encore: Fils de David, ayez pitié de moi!
And the passersby continued to rebuke him, that he should keep silent: but he continued to cry out much more, O thou son of David, have mercy on me.
40 Or Jésus s’arrêtant, ordonna qu’on le lui amenât. Et quand il se fut approché, il l’interrogea,
And Jesus standing, commanded him to be led to Him; and he drawing nigh, He asked him,
41 Disant: Que veux-tu que je te fasse? Il répondit: Seigneur, que je voie.
What do you wish that I shall do to you? And he said, Lord, that I may look up.
42 Et Jésus lui dit: Vois; ta foi t’a sauvé.
And Jesus said to him, Look up: thy faith hath saved thee.
43 Et aussitôt il vit, et il le suivait glorifiant Dieu. Et tout le peuple, voyant cela, donna louange à Dieu.
And immediately he looked up, and followed Him, glorifying God: and all the people, seeing, gave praise to God.
