Luc 17

1 Jésus dit encore à ses disciples: Il est impossible qu’il n’arrive des scandales; mais malheur à celui par qui ils arrivent!

And he said unto his disciples, It is impossible but that occasions of stumbling should come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

2 Il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu’on mît autour de son cou une meule de moulin et qu’on le jetât dans la mer, que de scandaliser un de ces petits.

It were well for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.

3 Prenez-garde à vous: Si ton frère a péché contre toi, reprends-le; et s’il se repent, pardonne-lui.

Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother sin, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

4 Et s’il a péché sept fois dans le jour contre toi, et que sept fois dans le jour il revienne à toi, disant: Je me repens; pardonne-lui.

And if he sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

5 Et les apôtres dirent au Seigneur: Augmentez-nous la foi.

And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

6 Mais le Seigneur dit: Si vous aviez de la foi comme un grain de sénevé, vous diriez à ce mûrier: Déracine-toi, et transplante-toi dans la mer; et il vous obéirait.

And the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye would say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea; and it would have obeyed you.

7 Qui de vous, ayant un serviteur attaché au labourage ou aux troupeaux, lui dit, aussitôt qu’il revient des champs: Viens vite, mets-toi à table?

But who is there of you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say unto him, when he is come in from the field, Come straightway and sit down to meat;

8 Et ne lui dit pas au contraire: Prépare-moi à souper, et ceins-toi, et me sers jusqu’à ce que j’aie mangé et bu, et après cela, tu mangeras et tu boiras?

and will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

9 A-t-il de l’obligation à ce serviteur, parce qu’il a fait ce qu’il lui avait commandé?

Doth he thank the servant because he did the things that were commanded?

10 Non, je pense. Ainsi, vous-mêmes, quand vous aurez fait ce qui vous est commandé, dites: Nous sommes des serviteurs inutiles; ce que nous avons fait, c’est ce que nous avons dû faire.

Even so ye also, when ye shall have done all the things that are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which it was our duty to do.

11 Il arriva qu’en allant à Jérusalem, il traversait le pays de Samarie et la Galilée.

And it came to pass, as they were on the way to Jerusalem, that he was passing through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 Et comme il entrait dans un village, il rencontra dix lépreux, qui s’arrêtèrent loin de lui;

And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 Et ils élevèrent la voix, disant: Jésus, Maître, ayez pitié de nous.

and they lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 Dès que Jésus les vit, il dit: Allez, montrez-vous aux prêtres. Et il arriva, pendant qu’ils y allaient, qu’ils furent purifiés.

And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go and shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 Un d’eux, se voyant purifié, revint sur ses pas, glorifiant Dieu à haute voix;

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, with a loud voice glorifying God;

16 Et il tomba sur sa face aux pieds de Jésus, lui rendant grâces; or celui-ci était Samaritain.

and he fell upon his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 Alors Jésus prenant la parole, dit: Est-ce que les dix n’ont pas été purifiés? et les neuf autres, où sont-ils?

And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 Il ne s’en est point trouvé qui revînt et rendît gloire à Dieu, si ce n’est cet étranger.

Were there none found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger?

19 Et il lui dit: Lève-toi, va, ta foi t’a sauvé.

And he said unto him, Arise, and go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

20 Interrogé par les pharisiens: Quand vient le royaume de Dieu? Leur répondant, il dit: Le royaume de Dieu ne vient point de manière à être remarqué;

And being asked by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God cometh, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

21 Et on ne dira point: Il est ici ou il est là. Car voici que le royaume de Dieu est au dedans de vous.

neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, There! for lo, the kingdom of God is within you.

22 Il dit ensuite à ses disciples: Viendront des jours où vous désirerez voir un seul des jours du Fils de l’homme, et vous ne le verrez pas.

And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

23 Et on vous dira: Le voici ici et le voilà là. N’y allez point, et ne les suivez point.

And they shall say to you, Lo, there! Lo, here! go not away, nor follow after [them]:

24 Car, comme l’éclair qui, brillant sous un côté du ciel, lance sa lumière sur tout ce qui est sous le ciel, ainsi sera le Fils de l’homme en son jour.

for as the lightning, when it lighteneth out of the one part under the heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall the Son of man be in his day.

25 Mais il faut auparavant qu’il souffre beaucoup de choses, et qu’il soit rejeté par cette génération.

But first must he suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.

26 Et comme il est arrivé aux jours du Noé, ainsi en sera-t-il aussi dans les jours du Fils de l’homme.

And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, even so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27 Ils mangeaient et buvaient; ils se mariaient et mariaient leurs enfants, jusqu’au jour où entra dans l’arche: et le déluge vint et il les perdit tous.

They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

28 Et comme il est arrivé encore aux jours de Lot: ils mangeaient et buvaient, ils achetaient et vendaient, ils plantaient et bâtissaient;

Likewise even as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29 Mais le jour où Lot sortit de Sodome, Dieu fit pleuvoir le feu et le soufre du ciel, et il les perdit tous:

but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all:

30 Ainsi en sera-t-il le jour où le Fils de l’homme sera révélé.

after the same manner shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.

31 En cette heure-là, que celui qui se trouvera sur le toit et dont les meubles sont dans la maison, ne descende point pour les emporter; et que celui qui est dans le champ, ne retourne point non plus en arrière.

In that day, he which shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away: and let him that is in the field likewise not return back.

32 Souvenez-vous de la femme de Lot.

Remember Lot’s wife.

33 Quiconque cherchera à sauver son âme, la perdra; et quiconque la perdra lui donnera la vie.

Whosoever shall seek to gain his life shall lose it: but whosoever shall lose [his life] shall preserve it.

34 Je vous le dis, en cette nuit-là deux personnes seront en un lit, l’un sera pris et l’autre laissé:

I say unto you, In that night there shall be two men on one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

35 Deux femmes moudront ensemble, l’une sera prise, et l’autre laissée; deux hommes seront dans un champ, l’un sera pris, et l’autre laissé.

There shall be two women grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

36 Prenant la parole, les disciples lui dirent: Où, Seigneur?

37 Et il répondit: Partout où sera le corps, là aussi s’assembleront les aigles.

And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body [is], thither will the eagles also be gathered together.
