Luc 10
1 Après cela, le Seigneur désigna encore soixante-douze autres disciples, et les envoya deux à deux devant lui dans toutes les villes et tous les lieux où lui-même devait venir.
Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come.
2 Et il leur disait: La moisson est certainement grande, et les ouvriers en petit nombre. Priez donc le maître de la moisson, qu’il envoie des ouvriers en sa moisson.
And he said unto them, The harvest is plenteous, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth labourers into his harvest.
3 Allez: Voici que je vous envoie comme des agneaux au milieu des loups.
Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.
4 Ne portez ni sac, ni bourse, ni chaussure, et ne saluez personne dans le chemin.
Carry no purse, no wallet, no shoes: and salute no man on the way.
5 En quelque maison que vous entriez, dites d’abord: Paix à cette maison!
And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace [be] to this house.
6 Et s’il s’y trouve un fils de la paix, votre paix reposera sur lui; sinon, elle reviendra à vous.
And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again.
7 Demeurez dans la même maison, mangeant et buvant de ce qui sera chez eux; car l’ouvrier mérite son salaire. Ne passez point de maison en maison.
And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 Et, en quelque ville que vous entriez, et où vous serez reçus, mangez ce qui vous sera présenté.
And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
9 Guérissez les malades qui s’y trouveront, et dites-leur: Le royaume de Dieu est proche de vous.
and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 Mais, en quelque ville que vous soyez entrés, s’ils ne vous reçoivent point, sortez dans ses places, et dites:
But into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets thereof and say,
11 Nous secouons contre vous la poussière même de votre ville, qui s’est attachée à nos pieds; cependant sachez que le royaume de Dieu approche.
Even the dust from your city, that cleaveth to our feet, we do wipe off against you: howbeit know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.
12 Je vous le dis: Pour Sodome, en ce jour-là, il y aura plus de rémission que pour cette ville-là.
I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13 Malheur à toi, Corozaïn! Malheur à toi, Bethsaïde! Car si dans Tyr et Sidon s’étaient opérés les miracles qui ont été opérés au milieu de vous, elles auraient autrefois fait pénitence sous le cilice et assises dans la cendre.
Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 Mais, pour Tyr et Sidon, il y aura au jugement plus de rémission que pour vous.
Howbeit it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.
And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt be brought down unto Hades. (Hadēs g86)
16 Qui vous écoute, m’écoute; et qui vous méprise, me méprise; mais qui me méprise, méprise celui qui m’a envoyé.
He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.
17 Or les soixante-douze revinrent avec joie, disant: Seigneur, les démons mêmes nous sont soumis en votre nom.
And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us in thy name.
18 Et il leur dit: Je voyais Satan tombant du ciel comme la foudre.
And he said unto them, I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from heaven.
19 Voilà que je vous ai donné le pouvoir de fouler aux pieds les serpents et les scorpions, et toute la puissance de l’ennemi; et rien ne vous nuira.
Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.
20 Cependant, ne vous réjouissez pas de ce que les esprits vous sont soumis; mais réjouissez-vous de ce que vos noms sont écrits dans les cieux.
Howbeit in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.
21 En cette heure même, il tressaillit de joie par l’Esprit-Saint, et dit: Je vous rends gloire, ô Père, Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, de ce que vous avez caché ces choses aux sages et aux prudents, et que vous les avez révélées aux petits. Oui, Père, car il vous a plu ainsi.
In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes: yea, Father; for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.
22 Toutes choses m’ont été données par mon Père. Et personne ne sait quel est le Fils, sinon le Père; et quel est le Père, sinon le Fils, et celui à qui le Fils a voulu le révéler.
All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth who the Son is, save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal [him].
23 Et, se tournant vers ses disciples, il dit: Heureux les yeux qui voient ce que vous voyez!
And turning to the disciples, he said privately, Blessed [are] the eyes which see the things that ye see:
24 Car, je vous le dis, beaucoup de prophètes et de rois ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l’ont point vu, entendre ce que vous entendez, et ne l’ont point entendu.
for I say unto you, that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not.
25 Et voilà qu’un docteur de la loi, se levant pour le tenter, dit: Maître, que ferai-je pour posséder la vie éternelle? (aiōnios g166)
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
26 Jésus lui dit: Qu’y a-t-il d’écrit dans la loi? Qu’y lis-tu?
And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 Celui-ci répondant, dit: Tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme, de toutes tes forces, et de tout ton esprit; et ton prochain comme toi-même.
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 Jésus lui dit: Tu as bien répondu; fais cela, et tu vivras.
And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 Mais lui, voulant se justifier lui-même, dit à Jésus: Et qui est mon prochain?
But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30 Jésus reprenant, dit: Un homme descendait de Jérusalem à Jéricho, et il tomba entre les mains de voleurs qui, l’ayant dépouillé et couvert de plaies, s’en allèrent, le laissant à demi mort.
Jesus made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, which both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 Or il arriva qu’un prêtre descendait par le même chemin; et l’ayant vu, passa outre.
And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 Pareillement un lévite, se trouvant près de là, le vit, et passa outre aussi.
And in like manner a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 Mais un Samaritain, qui était en voyage, vint près de lui, et, le voyant, fut touché de compassion.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion,
34 Et, s’approchant, il banda ses plaies, y versant de l’huile et du vin; et, le mettant sur sa monture, il le conduisit en une hôtellerie, et prit soin de lui.
and came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on [them] oil and wine; and he set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 Et le jour suivant, il tira deux deniers, et les donnant à l’hôte, dit: Aie soin de lui, et tout ce que tu dépenseras de plus, je te le rendrai à mon retour.
And on the morrow he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, I, when I come back again, will repay thee.
36 Lequel de ces trois te semble avoir été le prochain de celui qui tomba entre les mains des voleurs?
Which of these three, thinkest thou, proved neighbour unto him that fell among the robbers?
37 Le docteur répondit: Celui qui a été compatissant pour lui. Et Jésus lui dit: Va, et fais de même.
And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. And Jesus said unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
38 Or il arriva que pendant qu’ils étaient en chemin, il entra dans un village, et une femme, nommée Marthe, le reçut dans sa maison;
Now as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 Et celle-ci avait une sœur, nommée Marie, laquelle assise aux pieds du Seigneur, écoutait sa parole.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at the Lord’s feet, and heard his word.
40 Cependant Marthe s’occupait avec empressement des soins nombreux du service; elle s’arrêta et dit: Seigneur, ne voyez-vous pas que ma sœur me laisse servir seule? dites-lui donc qu’elle m’aide.
But Martha was cumbered about much serving; and she came up to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister did leave me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 Mais le Seigneur répondant, lui dit: Marthe, Marthe, vous vous inquiétez et vous vous troublez de beaucoup de choses.
But the Lord answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things:
42 Or une seule chose est nécessaire. Marie a choisi la meilleure part, qui ne lui sera pas ôtée.
but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
