Lévitique 5

1 Si un homme a péché en ce qu’il a entendu la parole de quelqu’un qui jurait, et qu’il soit témoin pour avoir vu ou su la chose, à moins qu’il ne la dénonce, il portera son iniquité.

“And when a person sins, and has heard the voice of an oath, and he [is] witness, or has seen, or has known—if he does not declare [it], then he has borne his iniquity.

2 Un homme qui a touché quelque chose d’impur, soit un animal tué par une bête sauvage, ou mort de soi-même, soit tout reptile quelconque, et qui a oublié son impureté, est coupable, et il a failli;

Or when a person comes against anything unclean, or against a carcass of an unclean beast, or against a carcass of unclean livestock, or against a carcass of an unclean teeming creature, and it has been hidden from him, then he [is] unclean and guilty;

3 Et s’il a touché quelque chose d’impur d’un homme, selon toute impureté dont il a coutume d’être souillé, et que l’ayant oublié, il le reconnaisse ensuite, il sera coupable de délit.

or when he comes against [the] uncleanness of man, even any of his uncleanness whereby he is unclean, and it has been hidden from him, and he has known, then he has been guilty.

4 Un homme qui a juré et prononcé par ses lèvres qu’il ferait ou mal ou bien, et qui a confirmé cette même chose par serment et par sa parole; puis, qui l’ayant oublié, reconnaît ensuite son délit,

Or when a person swears, speaking wrongfully with the lips to do evil, or to do good, even anything which man speaks wrongfully with an oath, and it has been hid from him—when he has known then he has been guilty of one of these;

5 Qu’il fasse pénitence pour son péché,

and it has been when he is guilty of one of these, that he has confessed concerning that which he has sinned,

6 Et qu’il offre d’entre les troupeaux une jeune brebis, ou une chèvre; et le prêtre priera pour lui et pour son péché;

and has brought in his guilt-offering to YHWH for his sin which he has sinned, a female out of the flock, a lamb, or a kid of the goats, for a sin-offering, and the priest has made atonement for him because of his sin.

7 Mais s’il ne peut offrir une brebis ou une chèvre, qu’il offre deux tourterelles ou deux petits de colombe au Seigneur, l’un pour le péché et l’autre en holocauste;

And if his hand does not reach to the sufficiency of a lamb, then he has brought in his guilt-offering—he who has sinned—two turtle-doves or two young pigeons to YHWH, one for a sin-offering and one for a burnt-offering;

8 Et il les donnera au prêtre, qui offrant le premier pour le péché, lui tournera la tête du côté des ailes, en sorte qu’elle reste attachée au cou et qu’elle n’en soit pas entièrement arrachée.

and he has brought them to the priest, and has brought near that which [is] for a sin-offering first, and has wrung off its head from its neck, and does not separate [it],

9 Il aspergera ensuite avec son sang la paroi de l’autel; mais tout ce qui sera de reste, il le fera distiller au pied de l’autel, parce que c’est pour le péché.

and he has sprinkled of the blood of the sin-offering on the side of the altar, and that which is left of the blood is wrung out at the foundation of the altar; it [is] a sin-offering.

10 Quant à l’autre, il le brûlera en holocauste, comme cela à coutume de se faire; et le prêtre priera pour cet homme et pour son péché, et il lui sera pardonné.

And he makes the second a burnt-offering, according to the ordinance, and the priest has made atonement for him because of his sin which he has sinned, and it has been forgiven him.

11 Que si sa main ne peut offrir deux tourterelles ou deux petits de colombe, il offrira pour son péché la dixième partie d’un éphi de fleur de farine; il n’y mêlera point d’huile, et n’y mettra pas un seul grain d’encens, parce que c’est pour le péché;

And if his hand does not reach to two turtle-doves, or to two young pigeons, then he has brought in his offering—he who has sinned—a tenth of an ephah of flour for a sin-offering; he puts no oil on it, nor does he put frankincense on it, for it [is] a sin-offering,

12 Et il la remettra au prêtre, qui en prenant une pleine poignée la brûlera sur l’autel en mémoire de celui qui l’aura offerte,

and he has brought it to the priest, and the priest has taken a handful from it of the fullness of his hand—its memorial—and has made incense on the altar, according to the fire-offerings of YHWH; it [is] a sin-offering.

13 Priant pour lui et faisant des expiations; mais le reste, il l’aura comme un don.

And the priest has made atonement for him, for his sin which he has sinned against one of these, and it has been forgiven him, and [the remnant] has been for the priest, like the present.”

14 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:

And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,

15 Si un homme manquant aux cérémonies, a péché par erreur dans des choses qui sont consacrées au Seigneur, il offrira pour son délit un bélier sans tache pris d’entre les troupeaux, qui peut être acheté deux sicles, selon le poids du sanctuaire;

“When a person commits a trespass, and has sinned through ignorance against the holy things of YHWH, then he has brought in his guilt-offering to YHWH, a ram, a perfect one, out of the flock, at your valuation [in] silver—shekels by the shekel of the holy place—for a guilt-offering.

16 Et quant au dommage même qu’il a fait, il le restituera, et il y ajoutera par-dessus la cinquième partie, la remettra au prêtre, qui priera pour lui, en offrant le bélier, et il lui sera pardonné.

And that which he has sinned against the holy thing he repays, and is adding to it its fifth, and has given it to the priest, and the priest makes atonement for him with the ram of the guilt-offering, and it has been forgiven him.

17 Si un homme a péché par ignorance, et qu’il ait fait une des choses qui sont défendues par la loi du Seigneur, et que coupable de péché, il ait reconnu son iniquité,

And when any person sins, and has done [something against] one of all the commands of YHWH [regarding things] which are not to be done, and has not known, then he has been guilty, and has borne his iniquity.

18 Il offrira au prêtre un bélier sans tache pris d’entre les troupeaux, selon la mesure et l’estimation du péché: le prêtre priera pour lui parce qu’il l’a fait sans le savoir; et il lui sera pardonné,

Then he has brought in a ram, a perfect one, out of the flock, at your valuation, for a guilt-offering, to the priest; and the priest has made atonement for him, for his ignorance in which he has erred and he has not known, and it has been forgiven him;

19 Parce que c’est par erreur qu’il a failli contre le Seigneur.

it [is] a guilt-offering; he has certainly been guilty before YHWH.”
