Josué 3
1 Ainsi, Josué se levant de nuit, leva le camp; et sortant de Sétim ils vinrent au Jourdain, lui et tous les enfants d’Israël, et ils demeurèrent là trois jours.
Therfor Josue roos bi nyyt, and mouede tentis; and thei yeden out of Sechym, and camen to Jordan, he and alle the sones of Israel, and dwelliden there thre daies.
2 Et ces trois jours écoulés, les hérauts passèrent par le milieu du camp,
And whanne tho daies weren passid, crieris yeden thorouy the myddis of tentis,
3 Et, commencèrent à crier: Quand vous verrez l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur votre Dieu et les prêtres de la race lévitique qui la portent, vous aussi, levez-vous, et marchez à leur suite;
and bigunnen to crie, Whanne ye seen the arke of boond of pees of youre Lord God, and the preestis of the generacioun of Leuy berynge it, also rise ye, and sue the biforgoeris;
4 Et qu’il y ait entre vous et l’arche l’espace de deux mille coudées, afin que de loin vous puissiez voir et connaître par quelle voie vous devez aller, parce que vous n’avez pas encore passé par cette voie; et gardez-vous d’approcher de l’arche.
and a space of twey thousynde cubitis be bitwixe you and the arke, that ye moun se fer, and knowe bi what weie ye schulen entre, for ye `yeden not bifore bi it; and be ye war, that ye neiye not to the arke.
5 Josué dit aussi au peuple: Sanctifiez-vous; car demain le Seigneur fera parmi vous des merveilles.
And Josue seide to the puple, Be ye halewid, for to morew the Lord schal make merueilis among you.
6 Puis il dit aux prêtres: Portez l’arche du Seigneur, et précédez le peuple. Et ceux-ci accomplissant ces ordres, la portèrent, et marchèrent devant le peuple.
And Josue seide to the preestis, Take ye the arke of the boond of pees `of the Lord, and go ye bifor the puple. Whiche filliden the heestis, and tooken the arke, and yeden bifor hem.
7 Alors le Seigneur dit à Josué: Aujourd’hui je commencerai à t’exalter devant tout Israël, afin qu’ils sachent que, comme j’ai été avec Moïse, ainsi je suis avec toi aussi.
And the Lord seide to Josue, To dai Y schal bigynne to enhaunse thee bifor al Israel, that thei wite, that as Y was with Moises, so Y am also with thee.
8 Pour toi, commande aux prêtres qui portent l’arche de l’alliance, et dis-leur: Lorsque vous serez entrés dans une partie de l’eau du Jourdain, arrêtez-vous-là.
Forsothe comaunde thou to preestis, that beren the arke of bond of pees, and seie thou to hem, Whanne ye han entrid in to a part of the watir of Jordan, stonde ye therynne.
9 Et Josué dit aux enfants d’Israël: Approchez-vous ici, et écoutez la parole du Seigneur votre Dieu.
And Josue seide to the sones of Israel, Neiye ye hidur, and here ye the word of youre Lord God.
10 Et de nouveau: En cela vous saurez que le Seigneur Dieu vivant est au milieu de vous, et qu’il détruira en votre présence le Chananéen, l’Hétéen, l’Hévéen, le Phérézéen, le Gergézéen, le Jébuséen et l’Amorrhéen.
And eft he seide, In this ye schulen wite that the Lord God lyuynge is in the myddis of you; and he schal distrye in youre siyt Cananey, Ethei, Euey, and Feresei, and Gergesei, and Jebusei, and Amorrei.
11 Voilà que l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur de toute la terre marchera devant vous à travers le Jourdain.
Lo! the arke of boond of pees of the Lord of al erthe schal go bifor you thorouy Jordan.
12 Préparez douze hommes des tribus d’Israël, un de chaque tribu.
Make ye redi twelue men of the twelue lynagis of Israel, bi ech lynage o man.
13 Et lorsque les prêtres qui portent l’arche du Seigneur Dieu de toute la terre auront posé la plante de leurs pieds dans les eaux du Jourdain, les eaux d’en bas s’écouleront et se dissiperont, mais celles qui viennent d’en haut se condenseront en monceau.
And whanne the preestis, that beren the arke of boond of pees of the Lord God of al erthe, han set the steppis of her feet in the watris of Jordan, the watris that ben lowere schulen renne doun, and schulen faile; forsothe the watris that comen fro aboue schulen stonde togidere in o gobet.
14 Ainsi le peuple sortit de ses tabernacles pour passer le Jourdain; et les prêtres qui portaient l’arche de l’alliance marchaient devant lui.
Therfor the puple yede out of her tabernaclis to passe Jordan; and the preestis that baren the arke of boond of pees yeden bifor the puple.
15 Mais eux étant entrés dans le Jourdain, et leurs pieds commençant à être mouillés (car le Jourdain avait couvert ses rives au temps de la moisson),
And whanne the preestis entriden in to Jordan, and her feet weren dippid in the part of watir; forsothe Jordan `hadde fillid the brynkis of his trow in the tyme of `ripe corn;
16 Les eaux qui descendaient s’arrêtèrent en un seul lieu, et, s’élevant comme une montagne, elles paraissaient de loin, depuis la ville qui est appelée Adom jusqu’au lieu nommé Sarthan; mais celles qui étaient au-dessous, descendirent dans la mer du désert (qui maintenant est appelée la mer Morte), jusqu’à ce qu’elles fussent entièrement écoulées.
the watris yeden doun, and stoden in o place, and wexiden grete at the licnesse of an hil, and apperiden fer fro the citee that was clepid Edom, `til to the place of Sarthan; sotheli the watris that weren lowere yeden doun in to the see of wildirnesse, which is now clepid the deed see, `til the watris failiden outirli.
17 Or, le peuple marchait contre Jéricho, et les prêtres qui portaient l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur se tenaient sur la terre sèche au milieu du Jourdain tout prêts; et tout le peuple passait à travers le lit desséché du fleuve.
Forsothe the puple yede thorouy Jordan; and the preestis, that baren the arke of the boond of pees of the Lord, stoden gird on the drie erthe in the myddis of Jordan, and al the puple passide thorouy the drie trow.
