Josué 21
1 Alors vinrent les princes des familles de Lévi vers Eléazar, le prêtre, vers Josué, fils de Nun, et vers les chefs des familles de chaque tribu des enfants d’Israël.
Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
2 Et ils leur parlèrent à Silo, dans la terre de Chanaan, et dirent: Le Seigneur a ordonné par l’entremise de Moïse, qu’on nous donnât des villes pour habiter, et leur faubourgs pour nourrir les bêtes.
And they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for our cattle.
3 Et les enfants d’Israël donnèrent de leurs possessions, selon l’ordre du Seigneur, les villes et leurs faubourgs.
And the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs.
4 Et le sort assigna à la famille de Caath, pour les enfants d’Aaron, le prêtre, treize villes des tribus de Juda, de Siméon et de Benjamin;
And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, [who were] of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
5 Et aux autres enfants de Caath, c’est-à-dire aux Lévites qui restaient, dix villes des tribus d’Ephraïm, de Dan, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé.
And the rest of the children of Kohath [had] by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6 Mais pour les enfants de Gerson, le sort décida qu’ils recevraient des villes au nombre de treize, des tribus d’Issachar, d’Aser, de Nephthali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé.
And the children of Gershon [had] by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
7 Et pour les enfants de Mérari, selon leur parenté, douze villes des tribus de Ruben, de Gad et de Zabulon.
The children of Merari by their families [had] out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8 Les enfants d’Israël donnèrent aux Lévites ces villes et leurs faubourgs, comme avait ordonné le Seigneur par l’entremise de Moïse, les distribuant à chacun par le sort.
And the children of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
9 Josué donna les villes des tribus des enfants de Juda et de Siméon, dont voici les noms:
And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are [here] mentioned by name,
10 Aux enfants d’Aaron d’entre les familles de Caath de la race lévitique (car le premier sort sortit pour eux),
Which the children of Aaron, [being] of the families of the Kohathites, [who were] of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.
11 Cariatharbé du père d’Enac, qui est appelée Hébron, sur la montagne du Juda, et ses faubourgs tout autour.
And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak (which [city is] Hebron) in the hill -[country] of Judah, with its suburbs round it.
12 Pour ses champs et ses villages, il les avait donnés à Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, pour les posséder.
But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
13 Il donna donc aux enfants d’Aaron, le prêtre, Hébron, ville de refuge, et ses faubourgs, ainsi que Lobna avec ses faubourgs;
Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest, Hebron with its suburbs, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with its suburbs,
14 Jéther, Estémo,
And Jattir with its suburbs, and Eshtemoa with its suburbs,
15 Holon, Dabir,
And Holon with its suburbs, and Debir with its suburbs,
16 Aïn, Jeta et Bethsamès, avec leurs faubourgs: neuf villes des deux tribus, comme il a été dit.
And Ain with its suburbs, and Juttah with its suburbs, [and] Beth-shemesh with its suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.
17 De la tribu des enfants de Benjamin: Gabaon, Gabaé,
And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its suburbs, Geba with its suburbs,
18 Et Anathoth et Almon avec leurs faubourgs: quatre villes.
Anathoth with its suburbs, and Almon with its suburbs; four cities.
19 Toutes ces villes des enfants d’Aaron, le prêtre, forment ensemble le nombre de treize avec leurs faubourgs.
All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, [were] thirteen cities with their suburbs.
20 Quant aux autres enfants de Caath de la race lévitique, selon leurs familles, voici la possession qui leur fût donnée:
And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites who remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
21 De la tribu d’Ephraïm, les villes de refuge, Sichem avec ses faubourgs, sur la montagne d’Ephraïm, Gazer,
For they gave them Shechem with its suburbs in mount Ephraim, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with its suburbs,
22 Et Cibsaïm et Beth-horon avec leurs faubourgs: quatre villes;
And Kibzaim with its suburbs, and Beth-horon with its suburbs; four cities.
23 De la tribu de Dan, Elthéco, Gabathon,
And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with its suburbs, Gibbethon with its suburbs,
24 Et Aïalon et Gethremmon, avec leurs faubourgs: quatre villes;
Ajalon with its suburbs, Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; four cities.
25 Mais de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Thanach et Gethremmon, avec leurs faubourgs: deux villes.
And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; two cities.
26 En tout dix villes et leurs faubourgs furent donnés aux enfants de Caath, d’un rang inférieur.
All the cities [were] ten with their suburbs, for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.
27 Il donna aussi de la demi-tribu de Manassé, aux enfants de Gerson, de la race lévitique, les villes de refuge, Gaulon en Basan, et Bosra, avec leurs faubourgs: deux villes;
And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the [other] half-tribe of Manasseh [they gave] Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer, and Beesh-terah with its suburbs; two cities.
28 De la tribu d’Issachar, Césion, Dabéreth,
And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with its suburbs, Dabareh with its suburbs,
29 Et Jaramoth et Engannim, avec leurs faubourgs: quatre villes;
Jarmuth with its suburbs, En-gannim with its suburbs; four cities.
30 De la tribu d’Aser, Masal, Abdon,
And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs,
31 Et Helcath et Rohob, avec leurs faubourgs: quatre villes;
Helkath with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs; four cities.
32 Et aussi de la tribu de Nephthali, les villes de refuge, Cédés en Galilée, Hammoth-Dor et Carthan, avec leurs faubourgs: trois villes;
And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammoth-dor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs; three cities.
33 En tout, aux familles de Gerson, treize villes avec leurs faubourgs.
All the cities of the Gershonites, according to their families, [were] thirteen cities with their suburbs.
34 Mais aux enfants de Mérari, lévites d’un rang inférieur, et selon leurs familles, furent données de la tribu de Zabulon, Jecnan, Cartha,
And to the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its suburbs, and Kartah with its suburbs,
35 Et Damna et Naalol: quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs;
Dimnah with its suburbs, Nahalal with its suburbs; four cities.
36 De la tribu de Ruben, au-delà du Jourdain, contre Jéricho, les villes de refuge, Bosor dans le désert, Misor, Jaser, Jethson, et Méphaath: quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs;
And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its suburbs, and Jahazah with its suburbs,
37 De la tribu de Gad, les villes de refuge, Ramoth en Galaad, Manaïm, Hésébon et Jazer: quatre villes avec leurs faubourgs;
Kedemoth with its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs; four cities.
And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with its suburbs,
Heshbon with its suburbs, Jazer with its suburbs; four cities in all.
40 En tout, aux enfants de Mérari, selon leurs familles et leur parenté, douze villes.
So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were [by] their lot twelve cities.
41 Ainsi, toutes les villes des Lévites au milieu de la possession des enfants d’Israël furent au nombre de quarante-huit,
All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel [were] forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
42 Avec leurs faubourgs, chacune ayant été distribuée selon les familles.
These cities were every one with their suburbs around them. Thus [were] all these cities.
43 Le Seigneur Dieu donna ainsi à Israël toute la terre qu’il avait juré de livrer à leurs pères; et ils la possédèrent et ils y habitèrent.
And the LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers: and they possessed it, and dwelt in it.
44 Et il leur donna la paix avec toutes les nations d’alentour; et nul de leurs ennemis n’osa leur résister; mais tous furent soumis à leur domination.
And the LORD gave them rest on all sides, according to all that he swore to their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
45 Pas même une seule parole de tout ce que Dieu avait promis de leur donner, ne fut vaine; mais toutes furent exactement accomplies.
There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel; all came to pass.
