Josué 18
1 Tous les enfants d’Israël s’assemblèrent à Silo, et là ils dressèrent le tabernacle de témoignage, et la terre leur fut soumise.
And all the congregation of the sons of Israel is assembled [at] Shiloh, and they cause the Tent of Meeting to dwell there, and the land has been subdued before them.
2 Or, étaient restées sept tribus des enfants d’Israël, lesquelles n’avaient pas encore reçu leurs possessions.
And there are seven tribes left among the sons of Israel who have not shared their inheritance,
3 Josué leur dit: Jusqu’à quand languirez-vous dans l’inaction, et n’entrerez-vous pas, pour la posséder, dans la terre que le Seigneur Dieu de vos pères vous a donnée?
and Joshua says to the sons of Israel, “Until when are you remiss to go in to possess the land which He, YHWH, God of your fathers, has given to you?
4 Choisissez de chaque tribu trois hommes, afin que je les envoie, et qu’ils aillent, et parcourent cette terre; qu’ensuite ils la décrivent, selon le nombre de chaque multitude, et qu’ils me rapportent ce qu’ils auront décrit.
Give three men from you for [each] tribe, and I send them, and they rise and go up and down through the land, and describe it according to their inheritance, and come to me,
5 Divisez entre vous la terre en sept parties: que Juda soit dans ses limites du côté austral, et Joseph du côté de l’aquilon.
and they have divided it into seven portions—Judah stays by its border on the south, and the house of Joseph stays by their border on the north—
6 Décrivez la terre qui est au milieu d’eux en sept parts; ensuite vous viendrez ici vers moi, afin que, devant le Seigneur votre Dieu, je jette pour vous ici le sort,
and you describe the land [in] seven portions, and have brought [it] to me here, and I have cast a lot for you here before our God YHWH;
7 Parce qu’il n’y a point de part parmi vous pour les Lévites, mais que le sacerdoce du Seigneur est leur héritage. Quant à Gad, à Ruben et à la demi-tribu de Manassé, déjà elles avaient reçu au-delà du Jourdain, au côté oriental, leurs possessions, que leur donna Moïse, serviteur du Seigneur.
for there is no portion for the Levites in your midst, for the priesthood of YHWH [is] their inheritance, and Gad, and Reuben, and half of the tribe of Manasseh received their inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward, which Moses, servant of YHWH, gave to them.”
8 Lorsque ces hommes se furent levés pour aller décrire la terre, Josué leur ordonna, disant: Parcourez la terre, décrivez-la, et revenez vers moi, afin qu’ici, devant le Seigneur, à Silo, je jette pour vous le sort.
And the men rise and go; and Joshua commands those who are going to describe the land, saying, “Go, and walk up and down through the land, and describe it, and return to me, and here I cast a lot for you before YHWH in Shiloh.”
9 C’est pourquoi ils allèrent; et parcourant la terre avec soin, ils la divisèrent en sept parts, écrivant dans un livre; puis ils revinrent au camp, à Silo, vers Josué.
And the men go, and pass over through the land, and describe it by cities, in seven portions, on a scroll, and they come to Joshua, to the camp [at] Shiloh.
10 Qui jeta les sorts devant le Seigneur, à Silo, et divisa la terre aux enfants d’Israël en sept parts.
And Joshua casts a lot for them in Shiloh before YHWH, and there Joshua apportions the land to the sons of Israel, according to their divisions.
11 Or, le premier sort tomba sur les enfants de Benjamin, selon leurs familles, pour qu’ils possédassent la terre située entre les enfants de Juda et les enfants de Joseph.
And a lot goes up [for] the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, for their families; and the border of their lot goes out between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.
12 Et leur frontière fut vers l’aquilon à partir du Jourdain; s’avançant près du côté septentrional de Jéricho, et de là montant contre l’occident vers les montagnes, et parvenant jusqu’au désert de Bethaven;
And the border is for them at the north side from the Jordan, and the border has gone up to the side of Jericho on the north, and gone up through the hill-country westward, and its outgoings have been at the wilderness of Beth-Aven;
13 Puis, passant vers le midi près de Luza, qui est la même que Béthel, elle descend à Ataroth-Addar vers la montagne qui est au midi de Beth-horon la basse;
and the border has gone over there to Luz, to the side of Luz (it [is] Beth-El) southward, and the border has gone down [to] Atroth-Addar, by the hill that [is] on the south of the lower Beth-Horon;
14 Et s’abaisse en tournant contre la mer, au midi de la montagne qui regarde Beth-horon contre l’Africus; enfin elle se termine à Cariath-Baal, qui est appelée aussi à Cariathiarim, ville des enfants de Juda: telle est son étendue contre la mer, à l’occident.
and the border has been marked out, and has gone around to the corner of the sea southward, from the hill which [is] at the front of Beth-Horon southward, and its outgoings have been to Kirjath-Ba‘al (it [is] Kirjath-Jearim), a city of the sons of Judah: this [is] the west quarter.
15 Mais du côté du midi, sa frontière s’avance de Cariathiarim contre la mer et parvient jusqu’à la source des eaux de Nephtoa.
And the south quarter [is] from the end of Kirjath-Jearim, and the border has gone out westward, and has gone out to the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah;
16 Et elle descend vers la partie de la montagne qui regarde la vallée des enfants d’Ennom, et qui est contre le côté septentrional, à l’extrémité de la vallée des Raphaïm. Elle descend aussi à Géennom (c’est-à-dire la vallée d’Ennom), à côté du Jébuséen, au midi, et elle parvient à la fontaine de Rogel,
and the border has come down to the extremity of the hill which [is] on the front of the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which [is] in the Valley of the Rephaim northward, and has gone down the Valley of Hinnom to the side of Jebusi southward, and gone down [to] En-Rogel,
17 Passant devant l’aquilon, et allant à Ensemès, c’est-à-dire. Fontaine du soleil,
and has been marked out on the north, and gone out to En-Shemesh, and gone out to Geliloth, which [is] opposite the ascent of Adummim, and gone down [to] the stone of Bohan son of Reuben,
18 Elle passe jusqu’aux tertres, qui sont vis-à-vis de la montée d’Adommim; elle descend à Abenboen, c’est-à-dire la pierre de Boen, fils de Ruben; elle passe du côté de l’aquilon jusqu’aux campagnes, et descend dans la plaine;
and passed over to the side in front of the Arabah northward, and gone down to Arabah;
19 Elle s’avance vers l’aquilon au-delà de Beth-hagla, et elle se termine à la langue de la mer très salée du côté de l’aquilon, au bout du Jourdain, vers le côté austral,
and the border has passed over to the side of Beth-Hoglah northward, and the outgoings of the border have been to the north bay of the Salt Sea, to the south extremity of the Jordan; this [is] the south border;
20 Qui la termine du côté de l’orient: telle est la possession des enfants de Benjamin, selon leurs frontières d’alentour et leurs familles.
and the Jordan borders it at the east quarter; this [is] the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, by its borders all around, for their families.
21 Ses villes étaient: Jéricho, Beth-hagla, la vallée de Casis,
And the cities for the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, for their families, have been Jericho, and Beth-Hoglah, and the Valley of Keziz,
22 Beth-Araba, Samaraïm, Béthel,
and Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, and Beth-El,
23 Avim, Aphara, Ophéra,
and Avim, and Parah, and Ophrah,
24 Le village d’Emona, Ophni et Gabée: douze villes et leurs villages;
and Chephar-Haammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities and their villages.
25 Gabaon, Rama, Béroth,
Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth,
26 Mesphé, Caphara, Amosa,
and Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah,
27 Récem, Jaréphel, Taréla,
and Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah,
28 Sala, Elaph, Jébus, qui est Jérusalem, Gabaath et Cariath: quatorze villes et leurs villages. Telle est la possession des enfants de Benjamin, selon leurs familles.
and Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi (it [is] Jerusalem), Gibeath, Kirjath; fourteen cities and their villages. This [is] the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, for their families.
