Josué 15

1 Ainsi le lot des enfants de Juda, selon leur parenté, fut celui-ci: Depuis la frontière d’Edom, le désert de Sin contre le midi, jusqu’à l’extrémité de la contrée australe.

This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Iudah by their families: euen to the border of Edom and the wildernesse of Zin, Southward on the Southcoast.

2 Le commencement de ce pays est à la pointe de la mer très salée, et à cette langue de mer qui regarde le midi;

And their South border was the salt Sea coast, from the point that looketh Southward.

3 Et il sort contre la montée du Scorpion, et passe à Sina; puis, monte vers Cabesbarné, et parvient à Esron, montant vers Addar, et faisant le tour de Carcaa,

And it went out on the Southside towarde Maaleth-akrabbim, and went along to Zin, and ascended vp on the Southside vnto Kadesh-barnea, and went along to Hezron, and went vp to Adar, and fet a compasse to Karkaa.

4 Et de là traversant Asémona, et arrivant jusqu’au torrent d’Egypte, et ses limites seront la grande mer: ce seront là ses confins du côté méridional.

From thence went it along to Azmon, and reached vnto the riuer of Egypt, and the end of that coast was on the Westside: this shall be your South coast.

5 Mais à l’orient, le commencement sera la mer très salée jusqu’à l’extrémité du Jourdain, et tout ce qui regarde vers l’aquilon, depuis la langue de mer jusqu’au même fleuve du Jourdain.

Also the Eastborder shalbe the salt Sea, vnto the end of Iorden: and the border on the North quarter from the point of the Sea, and from the end of Iorden.

6 Sa frontière monte à Beth-Hagla, et passe de l’aquilon à Beth-Araba, montant vers la pierre de Boën, fils de Ruben,

And this border goeth vp to Beth-hogla, and goeth along by ye Northside of Beth-arabah: so the border from thence goeth vp to the stone of Bohan the sonne of Reuben.

7 S’étendant jusqu’aux frontières de Débéra, de la vallée d’Achor, contre l’aquilon, regardant Galgala qui est vis-à-vis de la montée d’Adommim, du côté austral du torrent; elle passe les eaux qui sont appelées Fontaine du Soleil, et se termine à la Fontaine du Rogel.

Againe this border goeth vp to Debir from the valley of Achor, and Northwarde, turning toward Gilgal, that lyeth before the going vp to Adummim, which is on the Southside of the riuer: also this border goeth vp to the waters of En-shemesh, and endeth at En-rogel.

8 Elle monte aussi par la vallée du fils d’Ennom du côté du Jébuséen au midi, c’est-à-dire de Jérusalem: et de là montant jusqu’au sommet de la montagne, qui est contre Géennom, à l’occident, à l’extrémité de la vallée des Raphaïm, contre l’aquilon,

Then this border goeth vp to the valley of the sonne of Hinnom; on the Southside of the Iebusites: the same is Ierusalem. also this border goeth vp to the top of the mountaine that lyeth before the valley of Hinnom Westward, which is by the end of the valley of ye gyants Northward.

9 Elle passe depuis le sommet de la montagne jusqu’à la fontaine de Nephtoa, et arrive jusqu’aux bourgs de la montagne d’Ephron; elle incline ensuite vers Baala, qui est Cariathiarim, c’est-à-dire. Ville des Forêts;

So this border compasseth from the top of the mountaine vnto the fountaine of the water of Nephtoah, and goeth out to the cities of mount Ephron: and this border draweth to Baalah, which is Kiriath-iearim.

10 Elle tourne de Baala contre l’occident jusqu’à la montagne de Séïr, passe au côté de la montagne de Jarim, vers l’aquilon, à Cheslon, descend à Bethsamès, et passe à Thamna;

Then this border compasseth from Baalah Westward vnto mount Seir, and goeth along vnto the side of mount Iearim, which is Chesalon on the Northside: so it commeth downe to Bethshemesh, and goeth to Timnah.

11 Elle parvient contre la partie septentrionale d’Accaron, par le côté, incline ensuite vers Séchrona, passe la montagne de Baala, parvient jusqu’à Jebnéel, et se termine contre l’occident par la grande mer.

Also this border goeth out vnto the side of Ekron Northwarde: and this border draweth to Shicron, and goeth along to mount Baalah, and stretcheth vnto Iabneel: and the endes of this coast are to the Sea.

12 Telles sont les limites des enfants de Juda, de tous côtés, selon leur parenté.

And the Westborder is to the great Sea: so this border shalbe the bounds of the children of Iudah round about, according to their families.

13 Mais à Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, Josué donna en partage, au milieu des enfants de Juda, Cariath-Arbé du père d’Enac, la même qu’Hébron.

And vnto Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh did Ioshua giue a part among the children of Iudah, as the Lord commanded him, euen Kiriath-arba of the father of Anak, which is Hebron.

14 Et Caleb extermina de cette ville les trois enfants d’Enac, Sésaï, Ahiman et Tholmaï, de la race d’Enac.

And Caleb droue thence three sonnes of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the sonnes of Anak.

15 Et montant de là, il vint vers les habitants de Dabir, qui auparavant était appelée Cariath-Sépher, c’est-à-dire Ville des lettres.

And he went vp thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before time was Kiriath-sepher.

16 Et Caleb dit: Celui qui attaquera Cariath-Sépher, et la prendra, je lui donnerai Axa, ma fille, pour femme.

Then Caleb sayd, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and taketh it, euen to him wil I giue Achsah my daughter to wife.

17 Othoniel, fils de Cénez et jeune frère de Caleb, la prit, et Caleb lui donna sa fille Axa pour femme.

And Othniel, the sonne of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb tooke it: and he gaue him Achsah his daughter to wife.

18 Axa, lorsqu’ils allaient ensemble, fut engagée par son mari à demander à son père un champ; or, elle soupira pendant qu’elle était montée sur l’âne; alors Caleb: Qu’as-tu? lui dit-il.

And as she went in to him, she moued him, to aske of her father a fielde: and she lighted off her asse, and Caleb sayd vnto her, What wilt thou?

19 Et elle répondit: Accorde-moi une grâce: c’est une terre située au midi et aride, que tu m’as donnée, ajoutes-y une terre arrosée. Caleb lui en donna une arrosée en haut et en bas.

Then she answered, Giue me a blessing: for thou hast giuen mee the South countrey: giue me also springs of water. And hee gaue her the springs aboue and the springs beneath.

20 Telle est la possession de la tribu des enfants de Juda, selon leur parenté.

This shalbe the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Iudah according to their families.

21 Et aux extrémités de la terre des enfants de Juda, le long des frontières d’Edom, au midi, étaient les villes: Cabséel, Eder, Jagur,

And the vtmost cities of the tribe of the children of Iudah, toward the coastes of Edom Southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Iagur,

22 Cina, Dimona, Adada,

And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

23 Cadès, Asor, Jethnam,

And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

24 Ziph, Télem, Baloth,

Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

25 Asor la nouvelle, Carioth, Hesron, qui est la même qu’Asor,

And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, Hesron (which is Hazor)

26 Amam, Sama, Molada,

Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,

27 Asergadda, Hassémon, Bethphélet,

And Hazar, Gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-palet,

28 Hasersual, Bersabée, Baziothia,

And Hasar-shual, and Beersheba, and Biziothiah,

29 Baala, Jim, Esem,

Baalah, and Iim, and Azem,

30 Eltholad, Césil, Harma,

And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah,

31 Sicéleg, Médéména, Sensenna,

And Ziklag, and Madmanna, and Sansannah,

32 Lébaoth, Sélim, Aen et Remmon: en tout vingt-neuf villes et leurs villages;

And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all these cities are twentie and nine with their villages.

33 Et dans les plaines: Estaol, Saréa, Aséna,

In the lowe countrey were Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,

34 Zanoé, Engannim, Taphua, Enaïm,

And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

35 Jérimoth, Adullam, Socho, Azéca,

Iarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

36 Saraïm, Adithaïm, Gédéra, et Gédérothaïm: quatorze villes et leurs villages;

And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim: fourteene cities with their villages.

37 Sanam, Hadassa, Magdalgad,

Zenam, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,

38 Déléan, Masépha, Jecthel,

And Dileam, and Mizpeh, and Ioktheel,

39 Lachis, Bascath, Eglon,

Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,

40 Chebbon, Léhéman, Céthlis,

And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,

41 Gidéroth, Bethdagon, Naama et Macéda: seize villes et leurs villages;

And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah: sixteene cities with their villages.

42 Labana, Ether, Asan,

Lebnah, and Ether, and Ashan,

43 Jephtha, Esna, Nésib,

And Iipthtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,

44 Ceïla, Achzib et Marésa: neuf villes et leurs villages;

And Keilah, and Aczib, and Mareshah: nine cities with their villages.

45 Accaron avec ses bourgs et ses petits villages,

Ekron with her townes and her villages,

46 Depuis Accaron jusqu’à la mer, tout ce qui s’étend vers Azot et ses bourgades;

From Ekron, euen vnto the Sea, all that lyeth about Ashdod with their villages.

47 Azot avec ses bourgs et ses petits villages; Gaza avec ses bourgs et ses petits villages, jusqu’au torrent d’Egypte, et la grande mer est sa limite;

Ashdod with her townes and her villages: Azzah with her townes and her villages, vnto the riuer of Egypt, and the great Sea was their coast.

48 Et dans la montagne: Samir, Jéther, Socoth,

And in the mountaines were Shamir, and Iattir, and Socoh,

49 Danna, Chariathsenna, qui est la même que Dabir,

And Dannah, and Kiriath-sannath (which is Debir)

50 Anab, Istémo, Anim,

And Anab, and Ashtemoth, and Anim,

51 Gosen, Olon et Gilo: onze villes et leurs villages,

And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh: eleuen cities with their villages,

52 Arab, Ruma, Esaan,

Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean,

53 Janum, Beththaphua, Aphéca,

And Ianum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,

54 Athmatha, Cariath-Arbé, qui est la même qu’Hébron, et Sior: neuf villes et leurs villages;

And Humtah, and Kiriath-arba, (which is Hebron) and Zior: nine cities with their villages.

55 Mahon, Carmel, Ziph, Jota,

Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Iuttah,

56 Jezraël, Jucadam, Zanoë,

And Izreel, and Iokdeam, and Zanoah,

57 Accaïn, Gabaa et Thamna: dix villes et leurs villages.

Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah: ten cities with their villages.

58 Halhul, Bessur, Gédor,

Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,

59 Mareth, Béthanoth et Eltécon: six villes et leurs villages;

And Maarah, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon: sixe cities with their villages.

60 Cariathbaal, qui est la même que Cariathiarim, ville des Forêts, et Arebba: deux villes et leurs villages;

Kiriath-baal, which is Kiriath-iearim, and Rabbah: two cities with their villages.

61 Dans le désert: Betharaba, Meddin, Sachacha,

In the wildernes were Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

62 Nebsan, la ville de sel et Eugaddi: six villes et leurs villages.

And Nibshan, and the citie of salt, and Engedi: sixe cities with their villages.

63 Quant au Jébuséen, habitant de Jérusalem, les enfants de Juda ne purent le détruire; et le Jébuséen a habité avec les enfants de Juda dans Jérusalem jusqu’au présent jour.

Neuerthelesse, the Iebusites that were the inhabitants of Ierusalem, could not the children of Iudah cast out, but the Iebusites dwell with the children of Iudah at Ierusalem vnto this day.
