Job 32
1 Alors ces trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job, parce qu’il se croyait toujours juste.
So had these three men abstained from answering Job; because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2 Mais Eliu, fils de Barachel, le Buzite, de la famille de Ram, s’irrita et s’indigna; or il s’irrita contre Job, de ce qu’il disait qu’il était juste devant Dieu.
Thereupon was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he had declared himself more righteous than God.
3 Puis il s’indigna contre ses amis, de ce qu’ils n’avaient pas trouvé de réponse raisonnable contre Job, mais que seulement ils l’avaient condamné.
And against his three friends was his wrath kindled; because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4 Ainsi Eliu attendit tant que Job parla, parce que ceux qui parlèrent étaient plus âgés que lui.
Now Elihu had held back toward Job [his] words; because the others were older in days than he.
5 Mais lorsqu’il eut vu que les trois n’avaient pu répondre, il fut vivement irrité.
But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then was his wrath kindled.
6 Répondant donc, Eliu, fils de Barachel, le Buzite, dit: Je suis le plus jeune, et vous, vous êtes plus âgés, c’est pourquoi, la tête baissée, je n’ai pas osé manifester mon sentiment.
And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite commenced, and said, Young am I in days, and ye are very old: therefore I hesitated and feared to show you what I know.
7 Car j’espérais qu’un âge aussi avancé parlerait, et qu’une multitude d’années enseignerait la sagesse.
I had said, Days shall speak, and multitude of years shall make wisdom known.
8 Mais, comme je le vois, l’Esprit est dans les hommes et l’inspiration du Tout-Puissant donne l’intelligence.
But it is the spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty which giveth them understanding.
9 Ce ne sont pas ceux qui ont vécu longtemps qui sont sages, et ce ne sont pas les vieillards qui comprennent la justice.
Not those rich in years must be always wise: neither do the aged constantly understand what is just.
10 C’est pourquoi je parlerai: Ecoutez-moi, je vous montrerai, moi aussi, ma sagesse.
Therefore do I say, Hearken to me: I also will show forth what I know myself.
11 Car j’ai attendu vos discours; j’ai écouté pour voir quelle était votre prudence, tant que vous avez fait assaut de discours.
Behold, I waited for your words: I gave an attentive ear to your reasonings, till you might have searched out the [proper] words.
12 Et tant que je pensais que vous diriez quelque chose, j’étais attentif; mais, comme je le vois, il n’y a personne de vous qui puisse convaincre Job et répondre à ses discours.
And now I understand you fully, and, behold, there is none that convinceth Job, or, that answereth his speeches among you.
13 N’allez pas dire: Nous avons trouvé la sagesse; Dieu l’a rejeté et non un homme.
Say then not, We have found wisdom: God will thrust him down, not man.
14 Il ne m’a rien dit, et pour moi, ce ne sera pas selon vos discours que je lui répondrai.
But he hath not directed any words against me: and with your speeches will I not answer him.
15 Ils ont été épouvantés, ils n’ont plus répondu, ils se sont ôté à eux-mêmes la parole.
They are dismayed, they answer no more: words have escaped away from them.
16 Puisque donc j’ai attendu, et qu’ils n’ont point parlé; qu’ils se sont arrêtés, et qu’ils n’ont plus répondu,
And should I wait [longer], because they cannot speak, because they stand stilt and answer no more?
17 Je parlerai moi aussi pour ma part, et je montrerai ma science.
[But] I also will surely answer my part, I myself also will show forth what I know;
18 Car je suis plein de discours, et une force me presse au dedans de moi.
For I am full of words, the spirit in my bosom urgeth me hard.
19 Voilà que mon estomac est comme un vin nouveau qui, sans air, rompt les outres neuves,
Behold, my bosom is like [fresh] wine which hath not been opened: like new bottles it is ready to burst.
20 Je parlerai et je respirerai un peu; j’ouvrirai mes lèvres.
I will speak, that I may breathe freer: I will open my lips and answer.
21 Je ne ferai acception de personne, et je n’égalerai pas Dieu à un homme.
On no account will I show undue favor to any man, and to no son of earth will I give flattering titles.
22 Car je ne sais combien de temps je subsisterai, et si dans peu mon Créateur ne m’enlèvera point.
For I know not to give flattering titles; [for else] my Maker would speedily carry me away.
