Job 26
1 Alors, répondant, Job dit:
And Job answered and said,
2 De qui es-tu l’aide? est-ce d’un homme faible? et soutiens-tu le bras de celui qui n’est pas fort?
How hast thou helped the powerless; how saved the arm that is without strength!
3 À qui as-tu donné conseil? sans doute à celui qui n’a pas de sagesse, et tu as montré ta prudence très grande.
How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom, and abundantly declared the thing as it is!
4 Qui as-tu voulu enseigner? n’est-ce pas celui qui a créé le souffle de la vie?
For whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
5 Voilà que gémissent sous les eaux les géants et ceux qui habitent avec eux.
The shades tremble beneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof;
Sheol is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering. (Sheol h7585)
7 C’est lui qui étend l’aquilon sur le vide, et suspend la terre sur le néant.
He stretcheth out the north over empty space, he hangeth the earth upon nothing;
8 C’est lui qui lie les eaux dans ses nuées, afin qu’elles ne tombent pas toutes ensemble en bas.
He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent under them.
9 C’est lui qui tient cachée la face de son trône, et qui étend sur lui son nuage.
He covereth the face of his throne, he spreadeth his cloud upon it.
10 Il a posé des limites autour des eaux pour les retenir jusqu’à ce que finissent la lumière et les ténèbres.
He hath traced a fixed circle over the waters, unto the confines of light and darkness.
11 Les colonnes des cieux frémissent, et elles tremblent à son clin d’œil.
The pillars of the heavens tremble and are astonished at his rebuke.
12 Par sa puissance, soudain les mers se sont rassemblées, et sa prudence a frappé le superbe.
He stirreth up the sea by his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.
13 Son esprit a orné les cieux, et, sa main agissant, un serpent tortueux a été produit.
By his Spirit the heavens are adorned; his hand hath formed the fleeing serpent.
14 Voilà ce qui a été dit d’une partie de ses voies; et si c’est avec peine que nous avons entendu un petit mot de sa parole, qui pourra contempler l’éclat des tonnerres de sa grandeur?
Lo, these are the borders of his ways; but what a whisper of a word do we hear of him! And the thunder of his power, who can understand?
