Jérémie 45

1 Parole que Jérémie, le prophète, dit à Baruch, fils de Nérias, lorsqu’il eut écrit dans un livre ces paroles sorties de la bouche de Jérémie, la quatrième année de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, disant:

The word which Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto Baruch the son of Neriyah, when he wrote these words in a book out of the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah, saying,

2 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, Dieu d’Israël, à toi, Baruch:

Thus hath said the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning thee, O Baruch:

3 Tu as dit: Malheur a moi, infortuné! parce que le Seigneur a ajouté une douleur à ma douleur; je me suis fatigué dans mon gémissement; et du repos, je n’en ai pas trouvé.

Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my pain; I am wearied in my sighing, and rest have I not found;

4 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ainsi tu lui diras: Voilà que ceux que j’ai édifiés, c’est moi qui les détruis, et ceux que j’ai plantés, c’est moi qui les arrache, eux et toute cette terre.

Thus shalt thou say unto him, Thus hath the Lord said, Behold, what I have built will I pull down, and what I have planted I will pluck up; and so it is with this whole land.

5 Et toi, tu cherches pour toi de grandes choses? Ne les cherche pas; parce que voilà que moi, j’amènerai un fléau sur toute chair, dit le Seigneur; et je te donnerai ton âme sauve dans tous les lieux vers lesquels tu te dirigeras.

And wouldst thou indeed seek great things for thyself? seek them not; for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord; but I will give thy life unto thee as a booty in all the places whither thou mayest go.
