Jérémie 43

1 Or il arriva que, lorsque Jérémie eut achevé toutes ces prophéties, disant au peuple toutes les paroles du Seigneur leur Dieu, paroles pour lesquelles le Seigneur leur Dieu l’avait envoyé vers eux,

And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto the whole people all the words of the Lord their God, with which the Lord their God had sent him to them, [namely, ] all these words,

2 Azarias, fils d’Osaïas, et Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les hommes superbes, dirent à Jérémie: Tu parles mensonge, toi; le Seigneur notre Dieu ne t’a pas envoyé, disant: N’entrez point en Egypte afin d’y habiter.

That then spoke 'Azaryah the son of Hosha'yah, and Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the presumptuous men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the Lord our God hath not sent thee to say, Ye shall not go into Egypt to sojourn there;

3 Mais Baruch, fils de Nérias, t’excite contre nous, afin de nous livrer aux mains des Chaldéens, afin de nous tuer et de nous faire conduire à Babylone.

But Baruch the son of Neriyah setteth thee on against us, in order to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may put us to death, or carry us away as exiles to Babylon.

4 Et Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les princes des hommes de guerre et tout le peuple n’écoutèrent pas la voix du Seigneur, afin de demeurer dans la terre de Juda.

So Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies, and all the people, hearkened not to the voice of the Lord, to remain in the land of Judah.

5 Mais Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les princes des hommes de guerre prirent avec eux tous ceux qui étaient restés de Juda, qui étaient revenus de chez toutes les nations dans lesquelles ils avaient été auparavant dispersés, afin d’habiter dans la terre de Juda;

But Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all the nations, whither they had been driven, to sojourn in the land of Judah;

6 Les hommes, et les femmes, et les petits enfants, et les filles du roi, et toute âme que Nabuzardan, prince de la milice, avait laissée avec Godolias, fils d’Ahicam, fils de Saphan, et Jérémie le prophète, et Baruch, fils de Nérias;

The men, and the women, and the children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan; and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriyah;

7 Et ils entrèrent dans la terre d’Egypte, parce qu’ils n’obéirent pas à la voix du Seigneur; et ils vinrent jusqu’à Taphnis.

And they entered into the land of Egypt; for they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord; and they came as far as Thachpanches.

8 Et la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Jérémie dans Taphnis, disant:

Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah in Thachpanches, saying,

9 Prends de grandes pierres en ta main, et tu les cacheras dans la voûte qui est sous le mur de brique à la porte de la maison de Pharaon à Taphnis, les hommes de Juda le voyant;

Take great stones in thy hand, and hide them in the mortar in the brick-kiln which is at the entrance of Pharaoh's house in Thachpanches, before the eyes of the Jewish men;

10 Et tu leur diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées. Dieu d’Israël: Voilà que moi j’enverrai et je prendrai Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur; et je poserai son trône sur ces pierres que j’ai cachées; et il établira son siège sur elles.

And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will send for and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and I will set his throne above these stones that I have hidden; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.

11 Et venant il frappera la terre d’Egypte: ceux qui sont voués à la mort iront à la mort, et ceux qui le sont à la captivité, à la captivité; et ceux qui le sont au glaive, au glaive.

And he shall come and smite the land of Egypt: such as are destined for death shall be given to death; and such as are destined for captivity, to captivity; and such as are destined for the sword, to the sword.

12 Et il allumera le feu dans les temples des dieux de l’Egypte, et il les brûlera, et il emmènera les dieux captifs; et il se revêtira de la terre de l’Egypte comme un pasteur se revêt de son manteau, et il sortira de là en paix.

And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt, and he shall burn them, and carry them away captive: and he shall wrap around him the land of Egypt, as a shepherd wrappeth his garment around him; and he shall go forth from there in peace.

13 Et il brisera les statues de la maison du soleil qui sont dans la terre d’Egypte; et les temples des dieux de l’Egypte, il les brûlera au feu.

And he shall break the statues of Bethshemesh, which is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
