Jérémie 31
1 En ce temps-là, dit le Seigneur, je serai le Dieu de toutes les familles d’Israël, et elles seront mon peuple.
At that time, saith Jehovah, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, And they shall be my people.
2 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Il a trouvé grâce dans le désert, un peuple qui avait échappé au glaive: Israël ira à son repos.
Thus saith Jehovah: The people, escaped from the sword, hath found favor in the wilderness; I will go and give rest to Israel.
3 De loin le Seigneur m’a apparu. Et je t’ai aimée d’un amour éternel: c’est pour cela que je t’ai attirée ayant pitié de toi.
Jehovah appeared to me from afar, [[saying, ]] With an everlasting love do I love thee, Therefore have I kept mercy for thee.
4 Et de nouveau je t’édifierai, et tu seras édifiée, vierge d’Israël; tu paraîtras encore ornée au milieu des tambours, et tu sortiras dans un chœur de joueurs d’instruments.
Again will I build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel! Again shalt thou adorn thy tabrets, And go forth in the dance of them that make merry.
5 Tu planteras encore des vignes sur les montagnes de Samarie; des planteurs les planteront, et jusqu’à ce que le temps arrive, ils ne vendangeront pas.
Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria; The planters shall plant, and eat the fruit.
6 Car viendra un jour auquel les gardes crieront sur la montagne d’Ephraïm: Levez-vous, et montons en Sion vers le Seigneur notre Dieu.
For the day is coming when the watchmen shall cry upon Mount Ephraim, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion, To Jehovah, our God.
7 Parce que voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Exultez d’allégresse, Jacob, et poussez des cris éclatants à la tête des nations, faites retentir vos voix, chantez, et dites: Seigneur, sauvez votre peuple, les restes d’Israël.
For thus saith Jehovah: Sing with gladness for Jacob, And shout for the head of the nations! Publish ye, praise ye, and say: Jehovah, thou hast saved thy people, The remnant of Israel.
8 Voilà que moi je les amènerai de la terre de l’aquilon, et que je les rassemblerai des extrémités de la terre; parmi eux seront l’aveugle et le boiteux, la femme enceinte et celle qui a enfanté, mêlés ensemble, grande assemblée d’hommes revenant ici.
Behold, I will bring them from the land of the North, And gather them from the extremities of the earth; And with them shall be the blind and the lame, The woman with child, and she that is in travail with child together; A great company shall return thither.
9 C’est dans le pleur qu’ils viendront, et c’est dans la miséricorde que je les ramènerai, et je les ramènerai à travers des torrents d’eau dans une voie droite, et ils n’y heurteront point, parce que je suis devenu pour Israël un père, et qu’Éphraïm est mon premier-né.
They shall come with weeping, And amid supplications will I lead them; I will conduct them to streams of water, In a straight way, in which they shall not stumble. For I have become a father to Israel, And Ephraim is my first-born.
10 Ecoutez, nations, la parole du Seigneur, et annoncez-la aux îles qui sont au loin, et dites: Celui qui a dispersé Israël le rassemblera, et il le gardera comme un pasteur son troupeau.
Hear the word of Jehovah, O ye nations, And proclaim it in the distant coasts, and say: “He that scattered Israel will gather him, And will guard him, as a shepherd his flock.”
11 Car le Seigneur a racheté Jacob, et l’a délivré de la main d’un plus puissant que lui.
For Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, And ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12 Et ils viendront, et ils chanteront des louanges sur la montagne de Sion; et ils accourront en foule vers les biens du Seigneur, vers le blé, et le vin, et l’huile, et le fruit des troupeaux de menu et de gros bétail; et leur âme sera comme un jardin arrosé; et ils n’auront plus faim.
And they shall come and sing upon the height of Zion; They shall exult in the bounty of Jehovah, The corn, and the new wine, and the oil, And the young of the flock, and of the herd; And they shall be as a well-watered garden, And they shall languish no more.
13 Alors se réjouira la vierge au milieu d’un chœur, ainsi que les jeunes hommes et les vieillards ensemble; et je changerai leur deuil en joie, et je les consolerai, et je les remplirai d’allégresse après leur douleur.
Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, And the young men and old men together, For I will change their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and cheer them after their sorrow.
14 Et j’enivrerai l’âme des prêtres de graisse, et mon peuple sera rempli de mes biens, dit le Seigneur.
And I will satisfy the priests with fatness, And my people shall be satisfied with my bounty, saith Jehovah.
15 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Une voix a été entendue sur une hauteur, voix de lamentation, de deuil et de pleur, la voix de Rachel déplorant la perte de ses enfants, et ne voulant pas en être consolée, parce qu’ils ne sont plus,
Thus saith Jehovah: A voice hath been heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping; Rachel, weeping for her children, Refuseth to be comforted, because they are no more.
16 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Que ta voix cesse ses gémissements, et tes yeux leurs larmes; parce qu’il est une récompense à tes œuvres, dit le Seigneur, et ils reviendront de la terre de l’ennemi.
Thus saith Jehovah: Refrain thy voice from weeping, And thine eyes from tears, For thy labor shall be rewarded, saith Jehovah; They shall come again from the land of the enemy.
17 Et il est un espoir pour tes derniers moments, dit le Seigneur, et tes fils reviendront dans tes confins.
There is hope for thy future days, saith Jehovah; Thy children shall come again to their border.
18 Entendant, j’ai entendu Ephraïm dans sa transmigration: Vous m’avez châtié et j’ai été instruit, comme un jeune taureau indompté; convertissez-moi et je serai converti, parce que vous êtes le Seigneur mon Dieu.
I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself: “Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, Like a steer not broken. Turn thou me, and I shall be turned, For thou, O Jehovah, art my God!
19 Car, après que vous m’avez converti, j’ai fait pénitence, et après que vous m’avez montré mon état, j’ai frappé ma cuisse, l’ai été confondu, et j’ai rougi, parce que j’ai supporté l’opprobre de ma jeunesse.
Surely, after I returned, I repented, And after I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, yea, I was confounded, Because I bore the reproach of my youth.”
20 Est-ce qu’il n’est pas un fils honorable pour moi, Ephraïm, n’est-il pas un enfant de délices? parce que, depuis que j’ai parlé de lui, je me souviendrai encore de lui. C’est pour cela que mes entrailles sont émues sur lui; ayant pitié, j’aurai pitié de lui, dit le Seigneur.
Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a beloved child? For as often as I speak of him, I do earnestly remember him still. My heart beateth for him; I will have mercy upon him, saith Jehovah.
21 Etablis-toi un lieu d’observation, abandonne-toi à l’amertume, dirige ton cœur vers la voie droite, dans laquelle tu as marché: retourne, vierge d’Israël, retourne vers ces cités tiennes.
Set thee up waymarks; Raise thee pillars; Have regard to the highway, the way that thou goest! Return, O virgin of Israel, Return to these thy cities!
22 Jusques à quand seras-tu énervée par les délices, fille vagabonde? parce que le Seigneur a créé un nouveau prodige sur la terre: UNE FEMME ENVIRONNERÀ UN HOMME.
How long wilt thou wander about, O rebellious daughter? Behold, Jehovah createth a new thing in the earth: The woman shall protect the man.
23 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, Dieu d’Israël: Ils diront encore cette parole dans la terre de Juda et dans ses villes, lorsque j’aurai ramené leurs captifs: Que le Seigneur te bénisse, beauté de justice, montagne sainte;
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Again shall they say in the land of Judah, And in the cities thereof, when I bring back their captives, “May Jehovah bless thee, O habitation of justice, O holy mountain!”
24 Et y habiteront Juda et toutes ses cités ensemble, les laboureurs et ceux qui conduisent les troupeaux.
And Judah shall dwell in it, and all his cities together, Husbandmen, and they that go forth with their flocks.
25 Parce que j’ai enivré l’âme fatiguée, et j’ai rassasié toute âme qui avait faim.
For I will refresh him that is thirsty, And I will satisfy him that languisheth.
26 C’est pour cela que je me suis comme éveillé de mon sommeil; et j’ai vu, et mon sommeil m’a été doux.
Upon this I awoke, and beheld, And my sleep was sweet to me.
27 Voilà que des jours viennent, dit le Seigneur, et je sèmerai la maison d’Israël et la maison de Juda d’une semence d’hommes et d’une semence de bêtes,
Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, That I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah. With the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
28 Et comme j’ai veillé sur eux, afin de les arracher, et de les détruire, et de les dissiper, et de les perdre, et de les affliger, ainsi je veillerai sur eux, afin de les édifier et de les planter, dit le Seigneur.
And it shall be that as I have watched over them To pluck up, and to pull down, and to overthrow, And to destroy, and to afflict, So will I watch over them To build, and to plant, saith Jehovah.
29 En ces jours-là, on ne dira plus: Les pères ont mangé des raisins verts, et les dents des fils ont été agacées.
In those days they shall no more say, “The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children's teeth are set on edge.”
30 Mais chacun mourra dans son iniquité; tout homme qui aura mangé le raisin vert, ses dents seront agacées.
But every one shall die for his own iniquity; Every man that eateth sour grapes, His teeth shall be set on edge.
31 Voilà que des jours viendront, dit le Seigneur, et je ferai une nouvelle alliance avec la maison d’Israël et avec la maison de Juda,
Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, That I will make with the house of Israel, And with the house of Judah, a new covenant;
32 Non pas selon l’alliance que j’ai formée avec leurs pères, au jour auquel je pris leur main, afin de les faire sortir de la terre d’Egypte; alliance qu’ils ont rendue vaine, et moi je les ai maîtrisés, dit le Seigneur.
Not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, In the day when I took them by the hand To bring them out of the land of Egypt; Which covenant of mine they broke, And I rejected them, saith Jehovah.
33 Mais voici l’alliance que je ferai avec la maison d’Israël après ces jours-là, dit le Seigneur: Je mettrai ma loi dans leurs entrailles, et je l’écrirai dans leur cœur; et je serai leur Dieu, et eux seront mon peuple.
But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel: After those days, saith Jehovah, I will put my law into their inward parts, And upon their hearts will I write it; And I will be their God, And they shall be my people.
34 Et un homme n’instruira plus son prochain, et un homme son frère, disant: Connais le Seigneur; car tous me connaîtront, depuis le plus petit d’entre eux jusqu’au plus grand, dit le Seigneur; parce que je pardonnerai leur iniquité, et que de leur péché je ne me souviendrai plus.
And they shall teach no more, Every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, Saying, “Know ye Jehovah!” For they shall all know me, From the least of them even to the greatest of them, saith Jehovah; For I will forgive their iniquity, And I will remember their sin no more.
35 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, qui donne le soleil pour éclairer dans le jour, et le cours réglé de la lune et des étoiles pour éclairer pendant la nuit; qui agite la mer, et ses flots mugissent; le Seigneur des armées est son nom.
Thus saith Jehovah, Who made the sun for a light by day, And the ordinances of the moon and stars for a light by night, Who stirreth up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar, Jehovah of hosts is his name:
36 Si ces lois défaillent devant moi, dit le Seigneur, alors aussi la race d’Israël défaudra pour n’être plus à jamais un peuple devant moi.
If these ordinances shall depart from before me, Then shall the race of Israel also cease from being a nation before me forever.
37 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Si les cieux peuvent être mesurés dans leur hauteur, et les fondements de la terre sondés dans leur profondeur; moi aussi je rejetterai toute la race d’Israël, à cause de tout ce qu’ils ont fait, dit le Seigneur.
Thus saith Jehovah: If the heavens above can be measured, Or the foundations of the earth beneath searched out, Then will I cast off all the race of Israel For all which they have done, saith Jehovah.
38 Voilà que des jours viennent, dit le Seigneur, et la cité sera édifiée pour le Seigneur, depuis la tour d’Hananéel, jusqu’à la porte de l’angle.
Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, That the city shall be built to Jehovah From the tower of Hananeel to the corner-gate.
39 Et le cordeau sortira encore au-delà à sa vue sur la colline de Gareb; et fera le tour de Goatha,
And the measuring line shall go forth over against it even to the hill Gareb, And extend itself to Goath.
40 Et de toute la vallée des cadavres et de la cendre, et de toute la région de la mort, jusqu’au torrent de Cédron, et jusqu’à l’angle de la porte orientale des chevaux; le lieu saint du Seigneur ne sera pas renversé, et il ne sera jamais plus détruit.
And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, And all the fields to the brook Kidron, Even to the corner of the horsegate toward the East, Shall be holy to Jehovah. No more shall it be plucked up, Or thrown down, forever.
