Jérémie 26

1 Au commencement du règne de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, cette parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:

In the beginning of the reigne of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, came this worde from the Lord, saying,

2 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Tiens-toi dans le parvis de la maison du Seigneur, et tu diras à toutes les cités de Juda d’où l’on vient afin d’adorer dans la maison du Seigneur, tous les discours que moi je t’ai commandé de leur adresser; ne retranche pas une parole,

Thus saith the Lord, Sande in the court of the Lordes House, and speake vnto all the cities of Iudah, which come to worshippe in the Lords House, all the wordes that I commaund thee to speake vnto them: keepe not a worde backe,

3 Pour voir si par hasard ils écouteront, et s’ils se convertiront, chacun de sa voie mauvaise, et je me repentirai du mal que je pense leur faire, à cause de la malice de leurs œuvres.

If so be they will hearken, and turne euery man from his euill way, that I may repent me of the plague, which I haue determined to bring vpon them, because of the wickednesse of their workes.

4 Et tu leur diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Si vous ne m’écoutez pas, quand j’ordonne que vous marchiez dans ma loi que je vous ai donnée,

And thou shalt say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord, If ye will not heare me to walke in my Lawes, which I haue set before you,

5 Et que vous entendiez les paroles de mes serviteurs les prophètes, que moi j’ai envoyés vers vous, me levant durant la nuit et les dirigeant, et que vous n’avez pas écoutés,

And to heare ye wordes of my seruants the Prophets, whome I sent vnto you, both rising vp earely, and sending them, and will not obey them,

6 Je rendrai cette maison comme Silo, et je livrerai cette ville en malédiction à toutes les nations de la terre.

Then will I make this House like Shiloh, and will make this citie a curse to all the nations of the earth.

7 Et les prêtres et les prophètes et tout le peuple entendirent Jérémie disant ces paroles dans la maison du Seigneur.

So the Priestes, and the Prophets, and all the people heard Ieremiah speaking these wordes in the House of the Lord.

8 Et lorsque Jérémie eut achevé de dire tout ce que le Seigneur lui avait ordonné de dire à tout le peuple, les prêtres et les prophètes et tout le peuple le saisirent, disant: Qu’il meure de mort.

Nowe when Ieremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speake vnto all the people, then the Priestes, and the prophets, and all the people tooke him, and saide, Thou shalt die the death.

9 Pourquoi a-t-il prophétisé au nom du Seigneur, disant: Comme Silo, ainsi sera cette maison; et cette ville sera désolée, pour qu’il n’y ait pas d’habitant? Et tout le peuple s’assembla contre Jérémie dans la maison du Seigneur.

Why hast thou prophecied in the Name of the Lord, saying, This House shall be like Shiloh, and this citie shalbe desolate without an inhabitant? and all the people were gathered against Ieremiah in the House of the Lord.

10 Et les princes de Juda entendirent ces paroles; et ils montèrent de la maison du roi dans la maison du Seigneur, et ils s’assirent à l’entrée de la porte neuve de la maison du Seigneur.

And when the princes of Iudah heard of these things, they came vp from the Kings house into the House of the Lord, and sate downe in the entrie of the new gate of the Lords House.

11 Et les prêtres et les prophètes parièrent aux princes et à tout le peuple, disant: Un jugement de mort est dû à cet homme, parce qu’il a prophétisé contre cette cité, comme vous l’avez entendu de vos oreilles.

Then spake the Priestes, and the prophets vnto the princes, and to all the people, saying, This man is worthie to die: for he hath prophecied against this citie, as ye haue heard with your eares.

12 Et Jérémie parla à tous les princes et à tout le peuple, disant: Le Seigneur m’a envoyé, afin de prophétiser à cette maison et à cette cité toutes les choses que vous avez entendues.

Then spake Ieremiah vnto all the princes, and to al the people, saying, The Lord hath sent me to prophecie against this house and against this citie all the things that ye haue heard.

13 Maintenant donc rendez droites vos voies et vos œuvres, et écoutez la voix du Seigneur votre Dieu; et le Seigneur se repentira du mal qu’il a annoncé contre vous.

Therefore nowe amende your wayes and your workes, and heare the voyce of the Lord your God, that the Lord may repent him of the plague, that he hath pronounced against you.

14 Pour moi, voici que je suis entre vos mains; faites-moi ce qui paraît bon et juste à vos yeux;

As for me, beholde, I am in your hands: do with me as ye thinke good and right.

15 Mais cependant, sachez et apprenez bien que, si vous me faites mourir, vous répandrez un sang innocent contre vous et contre cette cité et ses habitants; car, en vérité, le Seigneur m’a envoyé vers vous, pour que je fisse entendre à vos oreilles toutes ces choses.

But knowe ye for certaine, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood vpon your selues, and vpon this citie, and vpon the inhabitants thereof: for of a trueth the Lord hath sent me vnto you, to speake all these words in your eares.

16 Et les princes et tout le peuple dirent aux prêtres et aux prophètes: Un jugement de mort n’est pas dû à cet homme, parce que c’est au nom du Seigneur, notre Dieu, qu’il nous a parlé.

Then saide the princes and all the people vnto the Priestes, and to the prophets, This man is not worthie to die: for he hath spoken vnto vs in the Name of the Lord our God.

17 Des hommes donc, d’entre les anciens du pays, se levèrent, et ils dirent à toute l’assemblée du peuple, en prenant la parole:

Then rose vp certaine of the Elders of the lande, and spake to all the assemblie of the people, saying,

18 Michée de Morasthie fut prophète dans les jours d’Ezéchias, roi de Juda, et parla à tout le peuple de Juda, disant: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Sion, comme un champ, sera labourée, et Jérusalem sera réduite en un monceau de pierres, et la montagne de la maison en une haute forêt.

Michah the Morashite prophecied in the dayes of Hezekiah king of Iudah, and spake to al the people of Iudah, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, Zion shall be plowed like a fielde, and Ierusalem shalbe an heape, and the mountaine of the House shalbe as the hie places of the forest.

19 Est-ce qu’Ezéchias, roi de Juda, et tout Juda l’ont condamné à mort? Est-ce qu’ils ne craignirent pas le Seigneur, et ne supplièrent-ils pas la face du Seigneur, et le Seigneur ne se repentit-il pas des maux qu’il avait annoncés contre eux? C’est pourquoi nous faisons un grand mal contre nos âmes.

Did Hezekiah King of Iudah, and all Iudah put him to death? did he not feare ye Lord, and prayed before the Lord, and the Lord repented him of the plague, that he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great euill against our soules.

20 Il y eut aussi un homme prophétisant au nom du Seigneur, Urie, fils de Séméi, de Cariathiarim; et il prophétisa contre cette cité, et contre cette terre, selon toutes les paroles de Jérémie.

And there was also a man that prophecied in the Name of the Lord, one Vriiah the sonne of Shemaiah, of Kiriath-iarem, who prophecied against this citie, and against this lande, according to all the wordes of Ieremiah.

21 Et le roi Joakim, et tous les puissants et ses princes entendirent ces paroles; et le roi chercha à le tuer. Et Urie l’apprit, et il craignit, et s’enfuit, et il entra en Egypte.

Nowe when Iehoiakim the King with all his men of power, and all the princes heard his wordes, the King sought to slay him. But when Vriiah heard it, he was afraide and fled, and went into Egypt.

22 Et le roi Joakim envoya des hommes en Egypte, Elnathan, fils d’Achabor, et des hommes avec lui en Egypte.

Then Iehoiakim the King sent men into Egypt, euen Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and certaine with him into Egypt.

23 Et ils tirèrent Urie d’Egypte, et ils l’amenèrent au roi Joakim, et il le frappa du glaive, et il jeta son cadavre dans les sépulcres des derniers du peuple.

And they fet Vriiah out of Egypt, and brought him vnto Iehoiakim the King, who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead bodie into the graues of the children of the people.

24 Donc la main d’Ahicam, fils de Saphan, fut avec Jérémie, afin qu’il ne fût pas livré aux mains du peuple, et qu’on ne le tuât pas.

But the hande of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan was with Ieremiah that they shoulde not giue him into the hande of the people to put him to death.
