Jérémie 19
1 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Va, et reçois des anciens du peuple et des anciens des prêtres une petite bouteille de terre de potier;
Thus said YHWH: “Go, and you have acquired a potter’s earthen vessel, and from [the] elderly of the people, and from [the] elderly of the priests,
2 Et sors vers la vallée du fils d’Ennom, qui est près de l’entrée de la porte d’argile, et tu publieras là les paroles que moi je te dirai.
and you have gone forth to the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, that [is] at the opening of the gate of the pottery, and have proclaimed there the words that I speak to you,
3 Et tu diras: Ecoutez la parole du Seigneur, rois de Juda et habitants de Jérusalem: voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées, Dieu d’Israël: Voilà que moi j’amènerai l’affliction sur ce lieu, en sorte que quiconque en entendra parler aura des tintements d’oreille;
and have said, Hear a word of YHWH, you kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem!” Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: “Behold, I am bringing in evil on this place, at which the ears of everyone who is hearing it tingles,
4 Parce qu’ils m’ont abandonné, qu’ils ont rendu ce lieu étranger, qu’ils y ont fait des libations à des dieux étrangers, que n’ont connus, ni eux, ni leurs pères, ni les rois de Juda, et parce qu’ils ont rempli ce lieu du sang des innocents.
because that they have forsaken Me, and make known this place, and make incense in it to other gods, that they did not know, they and their fathers, and the kings of Judah, and they have filled this place [with] innocent blood,
5 Et ils ont bâti des hauts lieux de Baalim pour brûler leurs enfants au feu en holocaustes aux Baalim; choses que je ne leur avais pas ordonnées, ni dites, et qui ne sont pas montées dans mon cœur.
and have built the high places of Ba‘al to burn their sons with fire, burnt-offerings to Ba‘al, that I did not command, nor spoke of, nor did it come up on My heart.
6 À cause de cela, voilà que des jours viennent, dit le Seigneur; et ce lieu ne sera plus appelé Topheth, ni la vallée du fils d’Ennom, mais la Vallée du carnage.
Therefore, behold, days are coming,” a declaration of YHWH, “and this place is no longer called The Tophet and Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but Valley of the Slaughter.
7 Et je dissiperai les desseins de Juda et de Jérusalem dans ce lieu; et je les détruirai par le glaive en présence de leurs ennemis, et par la main de ceux qui cherchent leurs âmes; et je donnerai leurs cadavres en pâture aux volatiles du ciel et aux bêtes de la terre.
And I have made void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and have caused them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those seeking their life, and I have given their carcass for food to the bird of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth,
8 Et je ferai de cette cité un objet de stupeur et de sifflement; quiconque passera par elle sera stupéfié, et il sifflera sur toutes ses plaies.
and I have made this city for a desolation, and for a hissing, everyone passing by it is astonished, and hisses for all its plagues.
9 Et je les nourrirai des chairs de leurs fils, et des chairs de leurs filles; et chacun mangera la chair de son ami durant le siège, et dans la détresse où les réduiront leurs ennemis et ceux qui cherchent leurs âmes.
And I have caused them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, and they each eat the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the constriction with which their enemies constrict them, and those seeking their life.”
10 Et tu briseras la petite bouteille sous les yeux des hommes qui iront avec toi.
“And you have broken the bottle before the eyes of the men who are going with you,
11 Et tu leur diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Je briserai ce peuple et cette cité, comme est brisé ce vase du potier qui ne peut plus être réparé; et c’est à Topheth qu’ils seront ensevelis, parce qu’il n’y aura pas d’autre lieu pour ensevelir.
and have said to them, Thus said YHWH of Hosts: Thus I break this people and this city, as one breaks the potter’s vessel, that is not able to be repaired again, and in Tophet they bury—without place to bury;
12 Ainsi je ferai à ce lieu et à ses habitants, dit le Seigneur; et je rendrai cette cité semblable à Topheth.
so I do to this place—a declaration of YHWH—and to its inhabitants, so as to make this city as Tophet;
13 Et les maisons de Jérusalem et les maisons des rois de Juda seront comme le lieu de Topheth, impures: toutes maisons sur les toits desquelles ils ont sacrifié à toute la milice du ciel, et ils ont fait de nombreuses libations à des dieux étrangers.
and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, have been as the place of Tophet—defiled, even all the houses on whose roofs they have made incense to all the host of the heavens, so as to pour out oblations to other gods.”
14 Or Jérémie vint de Topheth où l’avait envoyé le Seigneur, pour prophétiser; et il se tint dans le parvis de la maison du Seigneur, et il dit à tout le peuple:
And Jeremiah comes in from Tophet, to where YHWH had sent him to prophesy, and he stands in the court of the house of YHWH, and he says to all the people:
15 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées. Dieu d’Israël: Voilà que moi j’amènerai sur cette cité et sur toutes ses villes, tous les maux que j’ai annoncés contre elle, parce qu’ils ont rendu leur cou inflexible, afin de ne pas écouter mes paroles.
“Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing to this city, and on all its cities, all the calamity that I have spoken against it, for they have hardened their neck to not hear My words!”
