Jérémie 12
1 Vous êtes certainement juste, vous, Seigneur, si je dispute avec vous; cependant je vous dirai des choses justes: Pourquoi la voie des impies est-elle prospère, et le bonheur est-il pour tous ceux qui prévariquent, et qui agissent iniquement?
Thou are righteous, O Jehovah, when I contend with thee. Yet I would reason the case with thee. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those at ease who deal very treacherously?
2 Vous les avez plantés, et ils ont poussé des racines; ils croissent, et font du fruit; vous êtes près de leur bouche, et loin de leurs reins.
Thou have planted them. Yea, they have taken root, they grow. Yea, they bring forth fruit. Thou are near in their mouth, and far from their heart.
3 Et vous, Seigneur, vous m’avez connu, vous m’avez vu et vous avez éprouvé que mon cœur est avec vous; assemblez-les comme un troupeau destiné au sacrifice, et consacrez-les pour le jour de la tuerie.
But thou, O Jehovah, know me. Thou see me, and try my heart toward thee. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
4 Jusques à quand la terre pleurera-t-elle, et l’herbe de toute la contrée sera-t-elle desséchée, à cause de la méchanceté de ceux qui l’habitent? le quadrupède et le volatile ont été consumés, parce que ces hommes ont dit: Dieu ne verra pas nos derniers moments.
How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole country wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell therein, the beasts are consumed, and the birds, because they said, He shall not see our latter end.
5 Si en courant avec les piétons, tu t’es fatigué, comment pourras-tu le disputer de vitesse aux chevaux? mais si dans une terre de paix tu étais en sûreté, que feras-tu au milieu de l’orgueil du Jourdain?
If thou have run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how can thou contend with horses? And though in a land of peace thou are secure, yet how will thou do in the pride of the Jordan?
6 Car tes frères et la maison de ton père, eux aussi ont combattu contre toi, et ont crié derrière toi à pleine voix; ne les crois pas, lorsqu’ils te donneront de bonnes paroles.
For even thy brothers, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee, even they have cried aloud after thee. Believe them not, though they speak fair words to thee.
7 J’ai laissé ma maison; j’ai abandonné mon héritage; j’ai livré mon âme chérie aux mains de ses ennemis.
I have forsaken my house. I have cast off my heritage. I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
8 Mon héritage est devenu pour moi comme un lion dans la forêt; il a élevé sa voix contre moi; c’est pour cela que je l’ai haï.
My heritage has become to me as a lion in the forest. She has uttered her voice against me. Therefore I have hated her.
9 Est-ce que mon héritage n’est pas pour moi un oiseau de diverses couleurs? n’est-ce pas un oiseau entièrement coloré? venez, assemblez-vous, vous toutes, bêtes de la terre; hâtez-vous pour dévorer.
Is my heritage to me as a speckled bird of prey? Are the birds of prey against her round about? Go ye, assemble all the beasts of the field; bring them to devour.
10 Des pasteurs nombreux ont ravagé ma vigne, ils ont foulé aux pieds mon partage; ils ont fait de mon partage précieux un désert solitaire.
Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard. They have trodden my portion under foot. They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
11 Ils l’ont livré à la dévastation, et il a pleuré sur moi; par la désolation a été désolée toute la terre, parce qu’il n’est personne qui réfléchisse en son cœur.
They have made it a desolation. It mourns to me, being desolate. The whole land is made desolate, because no man lays it to heart.
12 Sur toutes les voies du désert sont venus des dévastateurs; parce que le glaive du Seigneur dévorera d’une extrémité de la terre à son autre extrémité; il n’y a de paix pour aucune chair.
Destroyers have come upon all the bare heights in the wilderness. For the sword of Jehovah devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land. No flesh has peace.
13 Ils ont semé du froment, et ils ont moissonné des épines; ils ont reçu un héritage, et il ne leur servira pas; vous serez confondus par la perte de vos fruits, à cause de la colère de la fureur du Seigneur.
They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns. They have put themselves to pain, and profit nothing. And ye shall be ashamed of your fruits, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah.
14 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur contre tous ces voisins très méchants, qui touchent à l’héritage que j’ai distribué à mon peuple d’Israël: Voilà que moi je les arracherai de leur terre, et que j’arracherai la maison de Juda du milieu d’eux.
Thus says Jehovah against all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.
15 Et lorsque je les aurai ainsi déracinés, je me tournerai et j’aurai pitié d’eux, et je les ramènerai l’un dans son héritage, et l’autre dans sa terre.
And it shall come to pass, after I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them. And I will bring them again, each man to his heritage, and each man to his land.
16 Et il arrivera que si, instruits, ils apprennent les voies de mon peuple et jurent par mon nom: Le Seigneur vit! comme ils ont appris à mon peuple à jurer par Baal, ils seront établis au milieu de mon peuple.
And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, As Jehovah lives, even as they taught my people to swear by Baal, then they shall be built up in the midst of my people.
17 Que s’ils n’écoutent point ma voix, je les extirperai par l’extirpation et par la ruine, dit le Seigneur.
But if they will not hear, then I will pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it, says Jehovah.
