Jacques 2
1 Mes frères, ne joignez pas l’acception des personnes à la foi que vous avez en Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, le Seigneur de la gloire.
My brethren, do not hold with acceptance of faces the faith of the glory of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
2 Car s’il entre dans votre assemblée un homme ayant un anneau d’or et un vêtement splendide, et qu’il y entre aussi un pauvre mal vêtu,
For if there come into your congregation a man who hath rings of gold or beautiful vestments, and there come in a poor man in sordid vestments,
3 Et que vous arrêtiez la vue sur celui qui aie vêtement splendide, et lui disiez: Assieds-toi bien ici; tandis qu’au pauvre vous disiez: Tiens-toi là debout, où assieds-toi sur l’escabeau de mes pieds;
and you look upon him who clothed in beautiful vestments, and say to him, Sit is here well; and you say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or, Sit thou here before the stool of our feet;
4 Ne jugez-vous pas par vous-mêmes, et ne vous faites-vous pas juges avec des pensées d’iniquité?
behold, are you not divided in yourselves, and become separaters for evil reasons?
5 Ecoutez, mes frères bien-aimés; Dieu n’a-t-il pas choisi les pauvres en ce monde pour être riches dans la foi, et héritiers du royaume que Dieu a promis à ceux qui l’aiment?
Listen, my beloved brethren: Hath not Aloha chosen the poor of the world, but rich in faith, to be heirs in that kingdom which Aloha hath promised to them who love him?
6 Mais vous avez, vous, déshonoré le pauvre. Ne sont-ce pas les riches qui vous oppriment par leur puissance, et eux-mêmes qui vous traînent devant les tribunaux?
But you have despised the poor. Behold, are not the rich uprisen against you? and do they not drag you to the house of judgment?
7 Ne sont-ce pas eux qui blasphèment le saint nom qui a été invoqué sur vous?
Do they not blaspheme against that Good Name which is pronounced upon you?
8 Si cependant vous accomplissez la loi royale selon les Ecritures: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même, vous faites bien.
And if the law of Aloha in this you accomplish, as it is written, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, you do well;
9 Mais si vous faites acception des personnes, vous commettez un péché, et vous êtes condamnés par la loi comme transgresseurs.
but if you accept persons, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors against the law.
10 Car quiconque a gardé toute la loi, et l’a violée en un seul point, devient coupable de tous.
For he who keepeth the whole law, and in one offendeth, of the whole LAW he is guilty.
11 En effet, celui qui a dit: Tu ne commettras point d’adultère, a dit aussi: Tu ne tueras point. Si donc tu ne commets pas d’adultère, mais que tu tues, tu es violateur de la loi.
For he who hath said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, is he who hath said, Thou shalt not steal; but if thou do not commit adultery, yet steal, thou hast become a transgressor against the LAW.
12 Parlez et agissez comme devant être jugés par la loi de la liberté.
So speak and so act, as those who by the law of liberty are to be judged.
13 Car le jugement est sans miséricorde pour celui qui n’a pas fait miséricorde; mais la miséricorde s’élève au-dessus du jugement.
For judgment is to be without mercy, upon him who hath not done mercy. Be you exalted by mercy over judgment.
14 Que servira-t-il, mes frères, que quelqu’un dise qu’il a la foi, s’il n’a point les œuvres? Est-ce que la foi pourra le sauver?
WHAT is the use, my brethren, if a man say, I have faith, and works he hath not? How can his faith save him?
15 Si un de vos frères ou une de vos sœurs sont nus, et s’ils manquent de la nourriture de chaque jour,
And, if a brother or sister be naked, and wanting the food of to-day,
16 Et qu’un de vous leur dise: Allez en paix, réchauffez-vous et rassasiez-vous, sans leur donner ce qui est nécessaire au corps, à quoi cela leur servira-t-il?
and any one of you shall say to them, Go in peace, be warm, and be satisfied, and give them not what is necessary for the body, what (would be) the use?
17 Ainsi la foi, si elle n’a pas les œuvres, est morte en elle-même.
Thus also the faith that hath not works is dead, (being) alone.
18 Mais, dira quelqu’un: Toi, tu as la foi, et moi j’ai les œuvres; montre-moi ta foi sans les œuvres, et moi je te montrerai ma foi par mes œuvres.
For a man saith, Thou hast faith, and I have works; show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith from my works.
19 Tu crois qu’il n’y a qu’un Dieu, tu fais bien; mais les démons croient aussi, et ils tremblent.
Thou believest that Aloha is one: thou doest well; the demons also believe and tremble.
20 Or veux-tu savoir, ô homme vain, que la foi sans les œuvres est morte?
Art thou willing to know, O weak man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Abraham, notre père, ne fut-il pas justifié par les œuvres, lorsqu’il offrit son fils Isaac sur l’autel?
Our father Abraham, was he not by works justified, when he offered Ishok his son on the altar?
22 Tu vois que la foi coopérait à ces œuvres, et que c’est par ses œuvres que la loi fut consommée.
Thou seest that his faith was helpful unto his works; and by works his faith was perfected,
23 Et ainsi fut accomplie l’Ecriture, qui dit: Abraham crut, et ce lui fut imputé à justice, et il fut appelé ami de Dieu.
and the scripture was accomplished which said, that Abraham believed in Aloha, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness, and the friend of Aloha he was called.
24 Vous voyez donc que c’est par les œuvres que l’homme est justifié, et non par la foi seulement.
Thou seest that by works man is justified, and not by faith alone.
25 De même Rahab, cette femme de mauvaise vie, n’est-ce pas par les œuvres qu’elle fut justifiée, recevant les espions et les renvoyant par un autre chemin?
So also Rachab the harlot, was she not by works justified when she received the spies, and by another way sent them forth?
26 Car comme le corps sans l’esprit est mort, ainsi la foi elle-même sans les œuvres est morte.
Thus, as the body without the spirit is dead, so also the faith which is without works is dead.
