Isaïe 7

1 Et il arriva dans les jours d’Achaz, fils de Joathan, fils d’Ozias, roi de Juda, que Rasin, roi de Syrie, et Phacée, fils de Romélie, roi d’Israël, montèrent à Jérusalem pour lui livrer bataille; et ils ne purent la réduire.

And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Aram, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it; but could not prevail against it.

2 Et on l’annonça à la maison de David, en disant: La Syrie a trouvé un appui dans Ephraïm; et le cœur d’Achaz fut agité ainsi que le cœur du peuple, comme la face du vent.

And it was told the house of David, saying: 'Aram is confederate with Ephraim.' And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moved with the wind.

3 Et le Seigneur dit à Isaïe: Sors au-devant d’Achaz, toi et Jasub ton fils qui t’est resté, et va à l’extrémité du canal de la piscine supérieure, sur la voie du champ du foulon.

Then said the LORD unto Isaiah: 'Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fullers' field;

4 Et tu lui diras: Voyez à vous tenir en repos; ne craignez point, et que votre cœur ne tremble point à cause de ces deux bouts de tisons fumants, devant la colère de Rasin, roi de Syrie, et du fils de Romélie;

and say unto him: Keep calm, and be quiet; fear not, neither let thy heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram, and of the son of Remaliah.

5 Parce que la Syrie, Ephraïm et le fils de Romélie ont formé de mauvais desseins contre vous, disant:

Because Aram hath counselled evil against thee, Ephraim also, and the son of Remaliah, saying:

6 Montons contre Juda, et mettons-le en mouvement, faisons-le venir à nous, et établissons-y pour roi le fils de Tabéei.

Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel;

7 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Cela ne subsistera pas et ne sera même pas.

thus saith the Lord GOD: It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

8 Mais la capitale de la Syrie est Damas, et le chef de Damas est Rasin; et encore soixante-cinq ans, et Ephraïm cessera d’être un peuple.

For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people;

9 Et la capitale d’Ephraïm est Samarie, et le chef de Samarie le fils de Romélie. Si vous ne croyez pas, vous ne persévérerez pas.

And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not have faith, surely ye shall not be established.'

10 Le Seigneur parla encore à Achaz, disant:

And the LORD spoke again unto Ahaz, saying:

11 Demande pour toi un miracle au Seigneur ton Dieu, au fond de l’enfer, ou au plus haut des cieux. (Sheol h7585)

'Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God: ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.' (Sheol h7585)

12 Et Achaz dit: Je n’en demanderai pas, et je ne tenterai pas le Seigneur.

But Ahaz said: 'I will not ask, neither will I try the LORD.'

13 Et le prophète dit: Écoutez donc, maison de David: Est-ce peu pour vous d’être fâcheux aux hommes, puisque vous êtes fâcheux même à mon Dieu?

And he said: 'Hear ye now, O house of David: Is it a small thing for you to weary men, that ye will weary my God also?

14 À cause de cela le Seigneur lui-même vous donnera un signe. Voilà que la vierge concevra et enfantera un fils, et son nom sera appelé Emmanuel.

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

15 Il mangera du beurre et du miel, en sorte qu’il sache réprouver le mal et choisir le bien.

Curd and honey shall he eat, when he knoweth to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

16 Parce qu’avant que l’enfant sache réprouver le mal et choisir le bien, la terre que tu détestes sera abandonnée de ses deux rois.

Yea, before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings thou hast a horror of shall be forsaken.

17 Le Seigneur amènera, avec le roi des Assyriens, sur toi, sur ton peuple et sur la maison de ton père, des jours qui ne sont pas venus depuis la séparation d’Ephraïm d’avec Juda.

The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.'

18 Il arrivera en ce jour que Dieu sifflera pour appeler la mouche qui est à l’extrémité des fleuves de l’Égypte, et l’abeille qui est dans la terre d’Assur;

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

19 Et elles viendront et elles se reposeront toutes dans les torrents des vallées, et dans les cavernes des pierres, et sur tous les arbrisseaux et dans tous les trous.

And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the rugged valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all brambles.

20 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur rasera avec un rasoir emprunté sur ceux qui sont au-delà fleuve et sur le roi des Assyriens la tête, et le poil des pieds et toute la barbe.

In that day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also sweep away the beard.

21 Et il arrivera en ce temps-là qu’un homme nourrira une vache et deux brebis,

And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall rear a young cow, and two sheep;

22 Et à cause de l’abondance du lait il mangera du beurre; car il mangera du beurre et du lait, quiconque aura été laissé au milieu de la terre.

and it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give, he shall eat curd; for curd and honey shall every one eat that is left in the midst of the land.

23 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, qu’en tout lieu où il y aura eu mille pieds de vigne, à mille pièces d’argent, ces pieds de vigne seront changés en épines et en ronces.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, shall even be for briers and thorns.

24 On y entrera avec les flèches et l’arc; car les ronces et les épines seront sur toute la terre.

With arrows and with bow shall one come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

25 Quant à toutes les montagnes qui seront bien sarclées, la crainte des épines et des ronces ne les atteindra pas, mais elles serviront de pâturage au bœuf, et le menu bétail les foulera aux pieds.

And all the hills that were digged with the mattock, thou shalt not come thither for fear of briers and thorns, but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.
