Isaïe 66
1 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Le ciel est mon trône, et la terre l’escabeau de mes pieds; quelle est cette maison que vous me bâtirez? et quel est ce lieu de mon repos?
Thus saith the Lord: Heaven is my throne, and the earth my footstool: what is this house that you will build to me? and what is this place of my rest?
2 Toutes ces choses, c’est ma main qui les a faites, et elles ont été faites toutes, dit le Seigneur; mais vers qui porterai-je mes regards, sinon vers le pauvre et celui qui a l’esprit contrit, et qui tremble à mes paroles?
My hand made all these things, and all these things were made, saith the Lord. But to whom shall I have respect, but to him that is poor and little, and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my words?
3 Celui qui immole un bœuf est comme celui qui tuerait un homme; celui qui sacrifie une bête de menu bétail est comme celui qui ôterait la cervelle à un chien; celui qui fait une oblation est comme celui qui offrirait du sang de porc; celui qui se souvient de brûler de l’encens est comme celui qui adorerait une idole. Ils ont choisi toutes ces choses dans leurs voies; et dans leurs abominations leur âme s’est délectée.
He that sacrificeth an ox, is as if he slew a man: he that killeth a sheep in sacrifice, as if he should brain a dog: he that offereth an oblation, as if he should offer swine’s blood; he that remembereth incense, as if he should bless an idol. All these things have they chosen in their ways, and their soul is delighted in their abominations.
4 D’où moi aussi je choisirai pour eux les railleries; et ce qu’ils craignaient, je l’amènerai sur eux; parce que j’ai appelé, et il n’y avait personne qui répondît; j’ai parlé, et ils n’ont pas écouté; ils ont fait le mal à mes yeux; et ce que je n’ai pas voulu, ils font choisi.
Wherefore I also will choose their mockeries, and will bring upon them the things they feared: because I called, and there was none that would answer; I have spoken, and they heard not; and they have done evil in my eyes, and have chosen the things that displease me.
5 Ecoutez la parole du Seigneur, vous qui tremblez à sa parole; vos frères qui vous haïssent, et qui vous rejettent à cause de mon nom, ont dit: Que la gloire du Seigneur se montre; et nous le reconnaîtrons à votre joie; mais eux, ils seront confondus.
Hear the word of the Lord, you that tremble at his word: Your brethren that hate you, and cast you out for my name’s sake, have said: Let the Lord be glorified, and we shall see in your joy: but they shall be confounded.
6 Une voix du peuple sort de la cité, une voix s’élève du temple, c’est la voix du Seigneur qui rendra rétribution à ses ennemis.
A voice of the people from the city, a voice from the temple, the voice of the Lord that rendereth recompense to his enemies.
7 Avant qu’elle fût en travail, elle a enfanté; avant que vînt le temps de son enfantement, elle a enfanté un enfant mâle.
Before she was in labour, she brought forth; before her time came to be delivered, she brought forth a man child.
8 Qui a jamais ouï une telle chose? et qui a vu rien de semblable à cela? est-ce que la terre engendrera en un seul jour? ou toute une nation sera enfantée en même temps, parce que Sion a été en travail et qu’elle a enfanté ses fils?
Who hath ever heard such a thing? and who hath seen the like to this? shall the earth bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be brought forth at once, because Sion hath been in labour, and hath brought forth her children?
9 Est-ce que moi, qui fais enfanter les autres, je n’enfanterai pas moi-même, dit le Seigneur? est-ce que moi, qui donne la génération aux autres, je demeurerai stérile, dit le Seigneur ton Dieu?
Shall not I that make others to bring forth children, myself bring forth, saith the Lord? shall I, that give generation to others, be barren, saith the Lord thy God?
10 Livrez-vous à la joie avec Jérusalem, exultez en elle, vous tous qui l’aimez; réjouissez-vous avec elle, vous tous qui pleurez sur elle;
Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you that mourn for her.
11 Afin que vous suciez, et que vous soyez rassasiés à la mamelle de sa consolation; afin que vous tétiez et que vous regorgiez des délices de sa gloire infinie.
That you may suck, and be filled with the breasts of her consolations: that you may milk out, and flow with delights, from the abundance of her glory.
12 Parce que voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Voilà que moi j’amènerai sur elle comme un fleuve de paix, et comme un torrent qui se déborde, la gloire des nations, laquelle vous sucerez; à la mamelle vous serez portés, et sur les genoux on vous caressera.
For thus saith the Lord: Behold I will bring upon her as it were a river of peace, and as an overflowing torrent the glory of the Gentiles, which you shall suck; you shall be carried at the breasts, and upon the knees they shall caress you.
13 De même qu’une mère qui caresse quelqu’un de ses enfants, de même moi je vous consolerai; et c’est dans Jérusalem que vous serez consolés.
As one whom the mother caresseth, so will I comfort you, and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
14 Vous verrez et votre cœur se réjouira, et vos os comme l’herbe germeront; et l’on connaîtra que la main du Seigneur est pour ses serviteurs, et il sera indigné contre ses ennemis.
You shall see and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb, and the hand of the Lord shall be known to his servants, and he shall be angry with his enemies.
15 Parce que voilà que le Seigneur viendra dans le feu, et ses quadriges seront comme la tempête, pour répandre dans son indignation sa fureur, et ses reproches dans une flamme de feu;
For behold the Lord will come with fire, and his chariots are like a whirlwind, to render his wrath in indignation, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
16 Parce que le Seigneur jugera dans le feu et avec son glaive toute chair; et ils seront bien nombreux, ceux qui seront tués par le Seigneur.
For the Lord shall judge by fire, and by his sword unto all flesh, and the slain of the Lord shall be many.
17 Ceux qui se sanctifiaient et croyaient se rendre purs dans leurs jardins, derrière la porte, en dedans; qui mangeaient de la chair de porc, et des abominations, et des rats seront consumés tous ensemble, dit le Seigneur.
They that were sanctified, and thought themselves clean in the gardens behind the gate within, they that did eat swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse: they shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.
18 Mais moi je viens afin de recueillir leurs œuvres et leurs pensées, et de les rassembler avec toutes les nations et les langues; ils viendront et ils verront ma gloire.
But I know their works, and their thoughts: I come that I may gather them together with all nations and tongues: and they shall come and shall see my glory.
19 Je poserai un étendard parmi eux, et j’enverrai ceux d’entre eux qui auront été sauvés, vers les nations, vers la mer, en Afrique et en Lydie, qui tend la flèche; dans l’Italie et la Grèce, dans les îles au loin, vers ceux qui n’ont pas entendu parler de moi, et n’ont pas vu ma gloire. Et ils annonceront ma gloire aux nations,
And I will set a sign among them, and I will send of them that shall be saved, to the Gentiles into the sea, into Africa, and Lydia them that draw the bow: into Italy, and Greece, to the islands afar off, to them that have not heard of me, and have not seen my glory. And they shall declare my glory to the Gentiles:
20 Et ils amèneront tous vos frères de toutes les nations comme un don au Seigneur, sur des chevaux, sur des quadriges et sur des litières, sur des mulets et sur des chariots, à ma montagne sainte, Jérusalem, dit le Seigneur, comme si les fils d’Israël portaient un présent dans un vase pur dans la maison du Seigneur.
And they shall bring all your brethren out of all nations for a gift to the Lord, upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and on mules, and in coaches, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as if the children of Israel should bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.
21 Et j’en prendrai d’entre eux pour prêtres et lévites, dit le Seigneur.
And I will take of them to be priests, and Levites, saith the Lord.
22 Parce que comme les cieux nouveaux et la terre nouvelle, que je fais subsister devant moi, dit le Seigneur, ainsi subsisteront votre race et votre nom.
For as the new heavens, and the new earth, which I will make to stand before me, saith the Lord: so shall your seed stand, and your name.
23 Et il arrivera que de mois en mois, et de sabbat en sabbat, toute chair viendra afin d’adorer devant ma face, dit le Seigneur.
And there shall be month after month, and sabbath after sabbath: and all flesh shall come to adore before my face, saith the Lord.
24 Et ils sortiront, et ils verront les cadavres des hommes qui ont prévariqué contre moi; leur ver ne mourra pas, et leur feu ne s’éteindra pas, ils seront un objet de regard jusqu’à satiété pour toute chair.
And they shall go out, and see the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: their worm shall not die, and their fire shall not be quenched: and they shall be a loathsome sight to all flesh.
