Isaïe 6
1 En l’année où est mort le roi Ozias, je vis le Seigneur assis sur un trône haut et élevé; et ce qui était sous lui remplissait le temple,
In the year in which king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, sublime and exalted, and the things that were under him filled the temple.
2 Des séraphins étaient au-dessus du trône: l’un avait six ailes, et l’autre six ailes; avec deux, ils voilaient leur face, et avec deux ils voilaient leurs pieds, et avec deux ils volaient.
The Seraphim were standing above the throne. One had six wings, and the other had six wings: with two they were covering his face, and with two they were covering his feet, and with two they were flying.
3 Et ils se criaient l’un à l’autre, et ils disaient: Saint, saint, saint est le Seigneur Dieu des armées, toute la terre est pleine de sa gloire.
And they were crying out to one another, and saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts! All the earth is filled with his glory!”
4 Et les linteaux des gonds furent ébranlés par la voix des anges qui criaient, et la maison fut remplie de fumée.
And the lintels above the hinges were shaken at the voice of the one crying out. And the house was filled with smoke.
5 Et je dis: Malheur à moi, parce que je me suis tu, parce que moi je suis un homme souillé par mes lèvres, et que j’habite au milieu d’un peuple qui a les lèvres souillées, et que j’ai vu le roi Seigneur des armées de mes yeux!
And I said: “Woe to me! For I have remained silent. For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live in the midst of a people having unclean lips, and I have seen with my eyes the King, the Lord of hosts!”
6 Et vers moi voilà un des séraphins, et dans sa main était un caillou qu’avec des pincettes il avait enlevé de l’autel.
And one of the Seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was a burning coal, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.
7 Et il en toucha ma bouche et dit: Cela a touché tes lèvres, et ton iniquité sera effacée, et ton péché sera purifié.
And he touched my mouth, and he said, “Behold, this has touched your lips, and so your iniquities will be taken away, and your sin will be cleansed.”
8 Et j’entendis la voix du Seigneur disant: Qui enverrai-je et qui ira pour nous? Et je dis: Me voici; envoyez-moi.
And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send?” and, “Who will go for us?” And I said: “Here I am. Send me.”
9 Et il dit: Va, et tu diras à ce peuple: Ecoutant, écoutez, et ne comprenez pas; et voyez la vision, et ne la discernez pas;
And he said: “Go forth! And you shall say to this people: ‘When you listen, you will hear and not understand. And when you see a vision, you will not comprehend.’
10 Aveugle le cœur de ce peuple, et rends ses oreilles sourdes, et ferme ses yeux; de peur qu’il ne voie de ses yeux, et qu’il n’entende de ses oreilles, et que de son cœur il ne comprenne, et qu’il ne se convertisse et que je ne le guérisse.
Blind the heart of this people. Make their ears heavy and close their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and then I would heal them.”
11 Et j’ai dit: Jusques à quand, Seigneur? et il a dit: Jusqu’à ce que les cités soient désolées, et sans un habitant, et que les maisons soient sans un homme; et la terre sera laissée déserte.
And I said, “For how long, O Lord?” And he said, “Until the cities are desolate, without an inhabitant, and the houses are without a man, and the land will be left behind, deserted.”
12 Et le Seigneur éloignera les hommes, et elle se multipliera, celle qui avait été délaissée au milieu de la terre.
For the Lord will take the men far away, and she who will have been left behind will be multiplied in the midst of the earth.
13 Et elle sera encore décimée, et elle se convertira, et elle se montrera comme le térébinthe et comme le chêne qui étend ses rameaux; ce sera une race sainte, ce qui restera en elle.
But still, there will be a tithing within her, and she will be converted, and she will be put on display, like a terebinth tree and like an oak which extends its branches. And what will remain standing within her will be a holy offspring.
