Isaïe 56
1 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Gardez le jugement et pratiquez la justice; parce que mon salut est près de venir, et ma justice, d’être révélée.
Thus hath said the Lord, Keep ye justice, and do equity; for near is my salvation to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
2 Bienheureux l’homme qui observe ceci, et le fils de l’homme qui s’y attachera; gardant le sabbat, afin de ne pas le profaner, gardant ses mains, afin de ne faire aucun mal.
Happy is the mortal that ever doth this, and the son of man that ever layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath by not violating it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
3 Et qu’il ne dise en aucune manière, le fils de l’étranger qui s’attache au Seigneur: Le Seigneur me séparera entièrement de son peuple. Et que l’eunuque ne dise pas: Voici que je suis un bois aride.
And let not say the son of the stranger, that joineth himself unto the Lord, saying, Surely the Lord will exclude me from his people; nor let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
4 Parce que voici ce que dit le Seigneur aux eunuques: Ceux qui gardent mes sabbats, et qui choisissent ce que je veux et observent mon alliance;
For thus hath said the Lord concerning the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and make choice of what pleaseth me, and take hold of my covenant.
5 Je leur donnerai dans ma maison et dans mes murs un lieu et un nom plus avantageux que des fils et des filles; je leur donnerai un nom éternel qui ne périra pas.
I will indeed give unto them in my house and within my walls a place and a name, better than sons and daughters: an everlasting name will I give them, that shall not be cut off.
6 Et les fils de l’étranger qui s’attachent au Seigneur, afin de l’adorer et d’aimer son nom, afin d’être ses serviteurs, et tous ceux qui gardent le sabbat pour ne pas le profaner, et observent mon alliance,
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves unto the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be unto him as servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath by not violating it, and those who take hold of my covenant:
7 Je les conduirai sur ma montagne sainte, je les remplirai de joie dans ma maison de prière; leurs holocaustes et leurs victimes, offerts sur mon autel, me seront agréables; parce que ma maison sera appelée maison de prière pour tous les peuples.
Even these will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations.
8 Le Seigneur Dieu, qui rassemble les dispersés d’Israël, dit: Je réunirai encore à lui ceux qui se joindront à lui.
Thus saith the Lord Eternal who gathereth the outcasts of Israel, I will yet gather [others] to him, beside his own gathered [outcasts].
9 Vous toutes, bêtes des champs, vous toutes, bêtes des forêts, venez pour dévorer.
All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, [yea, ] all ye beasts in the forest.
10 Ses sentinelles sont toutes aveugles; elles sont toutes dans l’ignorance; des chiens muets, qui ne peuvent aboyer, qui voient des fantômes, qui dorment et qui aiment les songes.
His watchmen are all of them blind, they know nothing; they all are dumb dogs, they cannot bark; dreamers, lying down, loving to slumber.
11 Et ces chiens d’une impudence extrême n’ont pas connu le rassasiement; les pasteurs eux-mêmes n’ont pas d’intelligence; tous se sont détournés vers leur voie, chacun vers son avarice, depuis le plus grand jusqu’au plus petit.
But the dogs are of a greedy disposition, they know not how to be satisfied; and those are shepherds that know how to understand: they all turn to their own way, every one after his gain, from all quarters.
12 Venez, disent-ils, prenons du vin, remplissons-nous-en jusqu’à l’ivresse; et comme aujourd’hui, ainsi il en sera demain, et beaucoup plus encore.
Come ye, I will fetch wine, and let us swallow abundantly of strong drink; and like this day shall it be tomorrow, excellent and in very great abundance.
