Isaïe 5
1 Je chanterai à mon bien-aimé le cantique de mon proche parent à sa vigne. Une vigne a été acquise à mon bien-aimé, sur un sommet de montagne abondant en huile.
Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
2 Et il l’a environnée d’une haie, et il en a ôté les pierres, il y a mis un plant choisi, et il y a bâti une tour au milieu, et il y a construit un pressoir; et il a espéré qu’elle produirait des raisins et elle a produit des grappes sauvages.
And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
3 Maintenant donc, habitants de Jérusalem, et hommes de Juda; soyez juges entre moi et ma vigne.
And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
4 Qu’est-ce que j’ai dû faire de plus à ma vigne, que je ne lui ai pas fait? n’ai-je pas espéré qu’elle produirait des raisins, et elle a produit des grappes sauvages?
What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
5 Et maintenant je vous montrerai ce que moi je ferai à ma vigne; j’enlèverai sa haie, et elle sera au pillage; je détruirai sa muraille, et elle sera foulée aux pieds.
And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
6 Je la rendrai déserte; elle ne sera pas taillée, et elle ne sera pas labourée; les ronces et les épines s’élèveront, et je commanderai aux nuées de ne pas répandre sur elle de pluie.
And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7 Car la vigne du Seigneur des armées est la maison d’Israël, et l’homme de Juda son germe délectable; et j’ai espéré qu’il rendrait un jugement, et voilà l’iniquité; qu’il rendrait la justice, et voilà le cri de l’opprimé.
For the vineyard of Yhwh of Armies is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
8 Malheur à vous qui joignez maison à maison, et qui ajoutez un champ à un champ jusqu’à ce que le lieu vous manque; est-ce que vous seuls vous habiterez au milieu de la terre?
Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
9 Voici ce qui a été révélé à mes oreilles. Le Seigneur des armées dit: J’ai juré si des maisons nombreuses, élevées et belles ne seront pas désertes, sans habitant.
In mine ears said Yhwh of Armies, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
10 Car dix arpents de vignes rapporteront une seule petite bouteille, et trente mesures de semence produiront trois mesures.
Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.
11 Malheur à vous qui vous levez dès le matin pour vous abandonner à l’ivresse, et pour boire jusqu’à la nuit, afin que par le vin vous vous échauffiez.
Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
12 La harpe, et la lyre, et le tambour, et la flûte, et le vin se trouvent dans vos festins; et l’œuvre du Seigneur, vous n’y avez pas égard, et les ouvrages de ses mains, vous ne les considérerez pas.
And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of Yhwh, neither consider the operation of his hands.
13 C’est pour cela que mon peuple a été emmené captif, parce qu’il n’a pas d’intelligence; et que les nobles d’Israël ont péri de faim, et que la multitude de son peuple a séché par la soif.
Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
14 C’est pour cela que l’enfer a dilaté son âme, et qu’il a ouvert sa bouche d’une manière illimitée; et ses puissants, et son bas peuple, et ses grands, et ses hommes glorieux y descendront. (Sheol h7585)
Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. (Sheol h7585)
15 Et l’homme du peuple s’inclinera, et l’homme de condition sera humilié, et les yeux des superbes s’abaisseront.
And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
16 Et le Dieu des armées sera exalté à cause de son jugement: et le Dieu saint sera sanctifié à cause de sa justice.
But Yhwh of Armies shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.
17 Et les agneaux paîtront à leur ordinaire, et dans les déserts devenus fertiles, des étrangers trouveront leur nourriture.
Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
18 Malheur à vous qui tirez l’iniquité avec les cordes de la vanité, et le péché comme les traits d’un chariot;
Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
19 Qui dites: Qu’il se hâte, et que son œuvre vienne bientôt, afin que nous la voyions; et qu’il s’approche et qu’il vienne, le décret du saint d’Israël, et nous le connaîtrons!
That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
20 Malheur à vous qui appelez le mal bien, et le bien mal; qui donnez les ténèbres pour la lumière, et la lumière pour les ténèbres; qui donnez l’amer pour le doux et le doux pour l’amer!
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Malheur à vous qui êtes sages à vos yeux, et qui êtes prudents vis-à-vis de vous-mêmes!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22 Malheur à vous qui êtes puissants à boire le vin, et des hommes vaillants à mêler des boissons enivrantes;
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 Qui justifiez l’impie pour des présents, et ravissez au juste sa propre justice!
Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 À cause de cela, comme une langue de feu dévore la paille, et comme la chaleur de la flamme la brûle entièrement, ainsi leur racine sera comme de la cendre embrasée, et leur germe s’élèvera comme de la poussière. Car ils ont rejeté la loi du Seigneur des armées, et ils ont blasphémé la parole du saint d’Israël.
Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of Yhwh of Armies, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 C’est pour cela qu’a été irritée la fureur du Seigneur contre son peuple; et qu’il a étendu sa main sur lui, et qu’il l’a frappé; que les montagnes ont été ébranlées, et que leurs cadavres sont devenus comme la boue sur les places publiques. Au milieu de tous ces maux, sa colère ne s’est point détournée, mais sa main a été encore étendue.
Therefore is the anger of Yhwh kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
26 Et il élèvera son étendard au loin parmi les nations; et il sifflera pour l’appeler des confins de la terre; et voici qu’en grande hâte il viendra promptement.
And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
27 Il n’y a dans lui ni de défaillant ni de fatigué; il ne sommeillera ni ne dormira; la ceinture de ses reins ne se déliera pas, ni la courroie de sa chaussure ne se rompra.
None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:
28 Ses flèches sont aiguës, et tous ses arcs bandés. La corne de leurs chevaux est comme un caillou; et ses roues comme l’impétuosité de la tempête.
Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:
29 Son rugissement est comme celui du lion; il rugira comme les petits des lions; et il frémira; et il saisira sa proie et il l’étreindra, et il n’y aura personne qui puisse la lui arracher.
Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.
30 Et un bruit se fera entendre sur lui en ce jour-là, comme le bruit de la mer; nous regarderons sur la terre, et voilà les ténèbres de la tribulation; et la lumière a été couverte de ténèbres par sa profonde obscurité
And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
