Isaïe 39

1 En ce temps-là Mérodach Baladan, fils de Baladan, roi de Babylone, envoya des livres et des présents à Ezéchias; car il avait appris qu’il avait été malade, et qu’il était guéri.

At that time Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and had recovered.

2 Ezéchias se réjouit à l’arrivée des députés, et leur montra le lieu où étaient conservés les aromates, l’argent et l’or, les parfums, et les essences les meilleures, tous les endroits où étaient les meubles, et tout ce qui se trouva dans ses trésors. Il n’y eut chose que ne leur montrât Ezéchias de ce qui était en sa maison et toute sa puissance.

And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not show them.

3 Or Isaïe, le prophète, entra auprès du roi Ezéchias, et lui dit: Qu’ont dit ces hommes, et d’où sont-ils venus vers vous? Et dit Ezéchias: C’est d’une terre lointaine qu’ils sont venus vers moi, de Babylone.

Then came Isaiah the prophet to king Hezekiah, and said to him, What said these men? and from whence came they to thee? and Hezekiah said, They have come to me from a far country, [even] from Babylon.

4 Et le prophète dit: Qu’ont-ils vu dans votre maison? Et Ezéchias dit: Tout ce qu’il y a dans ma maison, ils l’ont vu; il n’est chose que je ne leur aie montrée dans mes trésors.

Then said he, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah answered, All that [is] in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.

5 Et Isaïe dit à Ezéchias: Ecoute la parole du Seigneur des armées.

Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:

6 Voilà que des jours viendront, et que sera emporté à Babylone tout ce qui est dans ta maison, et ce qu’ont amassé tes pères jusqu’à ce pour; rien ne sera laissé, dit le Seigneur;

Behold, the days come, that all that [is] in thy house, and [that] which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.

7 Et on prendra de tes fils qui sortiront de toi, et que tu auras engendrés, et ils seront eunuques dans le palais du roi de Babylone.

And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

8 Et Ezéchias dit à Isaïe: Bonne est la parole du Seigneur que tu as dite. Puis il dit: Qu’il y ait paix seulement et vérité durant mes jours.

Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good [is] the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
