Isaïe 30
1 Malheur à vous, fils déserteurs, dit le Seigneur, de ce que vous formez des desseins, et non par moi, et que vous ourdissez une trame, et non par mon esprit, afin d’ajouter péché à péché;
Wo to the rebellious children, sayth the Lord, that take counsell, but not of me, and couer with a couering, but not by my spirit, that they may lay sinne vpon sinne:
2 Vous qui marchez pour descendre en Egypte, et n’avez pas interrogé ma bouche, espérant du secours de la force de Pharaon, et ayant confiance dans l’ombre de l’Egypte.
Which walke forth to goe downe into Egypt (and haue not asked at my mouth) to strengthen them selues with the strength of Pharaoh, and trust in the shadowe of Egypt.
3 Et la force de Pharaon vous sera à confusion, et la confiance dans l’ombre de l’Egypte, à ignominie.
But the strength of Pharaoh shalbe your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
4 Car tes princes étaient à Tanis, et tes messagers sont parvenus jusqu’à Hanès.
For his princes were at Zoan, and his Ambassadours came vnto Hanes.
5 Tous ont été confondus à la vue d’un peuple qui ne pouvait leur être utile; ils ne leur ont pas été à secours et à quelque utilité, mais à confusion et à opprobre.
They shalbe all ashamed of the people that cannot profite them, nor helpe nor doe them good, but shalbe a shame and also a reproche.
6 Malheur accablant des bêtes du Midi. Elles vont dans une terre de tribulation et d’angoisse, d’où sortent la lionne et le lion, la vipère et le basilic volant; ils portent sur les épaules des ânes leurs richesses, et sur la bosse des chameaux leurs trésors, à un peuple qui ne pourra pas leur être utile.
The burden of the beasts of the South, in a land of trouble and anguish, from whence shall come the yong and olde lyon, the viper and fierie flying serpent against them that shall beare their riches vpon the shoulders of the coltes, and their treasures vpon the bounches of the camels, to a people that cannot profite.
7 Car inutilement et vainement l’Egypte les secourra; voilà pourquoi j’ai crié à ce sujet: C’est de l’orgueil seulement, reste en repos.
For the Egyptians are vanitie, and they shall helpe in vaine. Therefore haue I cried vnto her, Their strength is to sit still.
8 Maintenant donc entre, écris cela pour lui sur le buis, et dans un livre grave-le soigneusement, et il sera au dernier jour un témoignage à jamais;
Now go, and write it before them in a table, and note it in a booke that it may be for the last day for euer and euer:
9 Car c’est un peuple provoquant au courroux, et ce sont des fils menteurs, des fils qui ne veulent pas entendre la loi de Dieu;
That it is a rebellious people, lying children, and children that would not heare the law of the Lord.
10 Qui disent à ceux qui voient: Ne voyez pas; et à ceux qui regardent: Ne regardez pas pour nous des choses qui sont justes; dites-nous des choses qui nous plaisent, voyez pour nous des erreurs.
Which say vnto the Seers, See not: and to the Prophets, Prophecie not vnto vs right things: but speake flattering things vnto vs: prophecie errours.
11 Eloignez de moi cette voie, détournez de moi ce sentier; qu’il disparaisse de notre face, le saint d’Israël.
Depart out of the way: go aside out of the path: cause the holy one of Israel to cease from vs.
12 À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le saint d’Israël: Parce que vous avez rejeté cette parole, et que vous avez espéré dans la calomnie et dans le tumulte, et que vous y avez mis votre appui,
Therefoe thus saith the holy one of Israel, Because you haue cast off this worde, and trust in violence, and wickednes, and stay thereupon,
13 À cause de cela, cette iniquité sera pour vous comme une brèche qui menace ruine, et qui est recherchée dans un mur élevé, parce que tout à coup, tandis qu’on ne s’y attend pas, vient son écroulement.
Therefore this iniquitie shalbe vnto you as a breach that falleth, or a swelling in an hie wall, whose breaking commeth suddenly in a moment.
14 Et elle sera mise en pièces, comme on brise d’un brisement très fort un vase de potier; et on ne trouvera pas parmi ses fragments un têt dans lequel on puisse porter un peu de feu pris d’une incendie, ou puiser un peu d’eau à une fosse,
And the breaking thereof is like the breaking of a potters pot, which is broken without pitie, and in the breaking thereof is not found a sheard to take fire out of the hearth, or to take water out of the pit.
15 Parce que voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu, le saint d’Israël: Si vous revenez, et vous vous tenez en repos, vous serez sauvés; dans le silence et dans l’espérance sera votre force. Et vous n’avez pas voulu;
For thus sayd the Lord God, the Holy one of Israel, In rest and quietnes shall ye be saued: in quietnes and in confidence shall be your strength, but ye would not.
16 Et vous avez dit: Pas du tout; mais nous fuirons vers des chevaux; c’est pour cela que vous fuirez. Et nous monterons sur de rapides coursiers; c’est pour cela que plus rapides seront ceux qui vous poursuivront.
For ye haue sayd, No, but we wil flee away vpon horses. Therefore shall ye flee. We will ride vpon the swiftest. Therefore shall your persecuters be swifter.
17 Vous fuirez an nombre de mille hommes par la terreur d’un seul, et tous par la terreur de cinq, jusqu’à ce que vous soyez laissés comme un mât de vaisseau sur une cime de montagne, et comme un étendard sur une colline.
A thousand as one shall flee at the rebuke of one: at the rebuke of fiue shall ye flee, till ye be left as a ship maste vpon the top of a mountaine, and as a beaken vpon an hill.
18 À cause de cela, le Seigneur attend, afin d’avoir pitié de vous; et pour cela il sera exalté en vous épargnant; car c’est un Dieu de justice que le Seigneur; bienheureux tous ceux qui l’attendent.
Yet therefore will the Lord waite, that he may haue mercy vpon you, and therefore wil he be exalted, that hee may haue compassion vpon you: for the Lord is the God of iudgement. Blessed are all they that waite for him.
19 Car le peuple de Sion habitera dans Jérusalem; pleurant tu ne pleureras pas du tout; ayant pitié il aura pitié de toi; à la voix de ton cri, dès qu’il entendra, il te répondra.
Surely a people shall dwell in Zion, and in Ierusalem: thou shalt weepe no more: he wil certainly haue mercy vpon thee at the voyce of thy crye: when he heareth thee, he wil answere thee.
20 Et le Seigneur vous donnera un pain restreint et une eau peu abondante; et il ne fera pas que celui qui t’instruit s’en aille loin de toi; et tes yeux verront ton maître.
And when the Lord hath giuen you the bread of aduersitie, and the water of affliction, thy raine shalbe no more kept backe, but thine eyes shall see thy raine.
21 Et tes oreilles entendront la voix de celui qui, derrière toi, t’avertira: Voici la voie, marchez-y; et ne vous détournez ni à droite ni à gauche,
And thine eares shall heare a worde behind thee, saying, This is the way, walke ye in it, when thou turnest to the right hand, and when thou turnest to the left.
22 Et tu regarderas comme choses souillées les lames d’argent de tes images taillées au ciseau, et le vêtement de ta statue d’or jetée en fonte, et tu les rejetteras comme un linge souillé. Sors, lui diras-tu;
And ye shall pollute the couering of the images of siluer, and the riche ornament of thine images of golde, and cast them away as a menstruous cloth, and thou shalt say vnto it, Get thee hence.
23 Et la pluie sera accordée à ta semence, partout où tu auras semé sur la terre, et le pain produit des grains de la terre sera très abondant et gras; dans ta possession, en ce jour-là, l’agneau paîtra spacieusement.
Then shall hee giue raine vnto thy seede, when thou shalt sowe the ground, and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shalbe fat and as oyle: in that day shall thy cattell be fed in large pastures.
24 Et les taureaux et les petits des ânes qui labourent la terre, mangeront les grains mêlés ensemble, comme dans l’aire ils auront été vannés.
The oxen also and the yong asses, that till the ground, shall eate cleane prouender, which is winowed with the shoouel and with the fanne.
25 Et il y aura sur toute haute montagne et sur toute colline élevée, des ruisseaux d’eaux courantes, au jour où beaucoup auront été tués, et lorsque seront tombées les tours.
And vpon euery hie mountaine, and vpon euery hie hill shall there be riuers and streames of waters, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers shall fall.
26 Et sera la lumière de la lune comme la lumière du soleil, et la lumière du soleil sera septuplée, égale à la lumière de sept jours, au jour où le Seigneur aura lié la blessure de son peuple et guéri le coup de sa plaie.
Moreouer, the light of the moone shall be as the light of the sunne, and the light of the sunne shalbe seuen folde, and like the light of seuen dayes in the day that the Lord shall binde vp the breach of his people, and heale the stroke of their wound.
27 Voici que le nom du Seigneur vient de loin; ardente est sa fureur, et lourde à porter; ses lèvres sont pleines d’indignation, sa langue est comme un feu dévorant.
Beholde, the Name of the Lord commeth from farre, his face is burning, and the burden thereof is heauy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a deuouring fire.
28 Son souffle est un torrent débordé, qui atteint jusqu’au milieu du cou, pour réduire des nations au néant, et briser le frein d’erreur qui était aux mâchoires des peuples.
And his spirit is as a riuer that ouerfloweth vp to the necke: it deuideth asunder, to fanne the nations with the fanne of vanitie, and there shall be a bridle to cause them to erre in the chawes of the people.
29 Vous chanterez comme dans la nuit d’une sainte solennité, et la joie de votre cœur sera comme la joie de celui qui va avec la flûte, afin de se présenter sur la montagne du Seigneur, au fort d’Israël.
But there shall be a song vnto you as in the night, when solemne feast is kept: and gladnes of heart, as he that commeth with a pipe to goe vnto the mount of the Lord, to the mightie one of Israel.
30 Et le Seigneur fera entendre la majesté de sa voix, et il montrera la terreur de son bras dans une menace de fureur, et dans la flamme d’un feu dévorant; il brisera par un tourbillon et par des pierres de grêle.
And the Lord shall cause his glorious voyce to be heard, and shall declare the lighting downe of his arme with the anger of his countenance, and flame of a deuouring fire, with scattering and tempest, and hailestones.
31 Car à la voix du Seigneur Assur tremblera d’effroi, frappé de sa verge.
For with the voyce of the Lord shall Asshur be destroyed, which smote with the rod.
32 Et le passage de la verge sera affermi; le Seigneur la fera reposer sur lui au milieu des tambours et des harpes, et dans des guerres considérables il les vaincra.
And in euery place that ye staffe shall passe, it shall cleaue fast, which the Lord shall lay vpon him with tabrets and harpes: and with battels, and lifting vp of hands shall he fight against it.
33 Car Topheth est préparée depuis hier, par le roi préparée, profonde et étendue. Ses aliments sont du feu et beaucoup de bois; le souffle du Seigneur comme un torrent de soufre l’embrase.
For Tophet is prepared of olde: it is euen prepared for the King: hee hath made it deepe and large: the burning thereof is fire and much wood: the breath of the Lord, like a riuer of brimstone, doeth kindle it.
