Isaïe 26
1 En ce jour-là sera chanté ce cantique dans la terre de Juda: Notre ville forte est Sion; le sauveur sera mis comme mur et avant-mur.
On that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: A strong city have we; his aid will he grant [us] as walls and defence.
2 Ouvrez les portes, et qu’il y entre une nation juste et observant la vérité.
Open ye the gates, that there may enter in the righteous nation which guardeth the truth.
3 L’ancienne erreur a disparu; vous nous conserverez la paix, la paix, parce que nous avons espéré en vous.
The confiding mind wilt thou keep in perfect peace; because he trusteth in thee.
4 Vous avez espéré dans le Seigneur durant les siècles éternels, dans le Seigneur Dieu puissant à jamais.
Trust ye in the Lord unto eternity; for in Yah the Lord is everlasting protection.
5 Parce qu’il abaissera ceux qui habitent dans les hauteurs, il humiliera la cité élevée. Il l’humiliera jusqu’à terre et il la renversera jusque dans la poussière.
For he bendeth down the dwellers of the height; the lofty fortress—he layeth it low; he layeth it low, along the ground; he casteth it down to the dust.
6 Le pied la foulera, les pieds du pauvre, le pas de l’indigent.
The foot shall tread it down, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.
7 Le sentier du juste est droit, droit est le chemin où le juste doit marcher.
The path of the just is straight: thou, most upright, dost ever level the road of the just.
8 Et dans le sentier de vos jugements. Seigneur, nous vous avons attendu patiemment; votre nom et votre souvenir sont dans le désir de l’âme.
Yea, on the path of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; for thy name, and for the remembrance of thee, was the longing of our soul.
9 Mon âme vous a désiré pendant la nuit; mais et par mon esprit et dans mon cœur, dès le matin je veillerai pour vous. Lorsque vous aurez exercé vos jugements sur la terre, les habitants du globe apprendront la justice.
In my soul have I longed for thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek for thee; for when thy judgments are [sent] on the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10 Ayons pitié de l’impie, et il n’apprendra pas la justice; dans la terre des saints il a fait des choses iniques, et il ne verra pas la gloire du Seigneur.
If favor be shown to the wicked, he will not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not regard the majesty of the Lord.
11 Seigneur, que votre main s’élève, et qu’ils ne voient pas; qu’ils voient et qu’ils soient confondus, ceux qui sont jaloux de votre peuple et qu’un feu dévore vos ennemis.
Lord, thy hand was raised high, but they would not see: oh that they might see, and be ashamed, [thy] zeal for the people; yea, the fire which shall devour them—thy enemies.
12 Seigneur, vous nous donnerez la paix; car vous avez opéré toutes nos œuvres pour nous.
Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us; for also all our works hast thou accomplished for us.
13 Seigneur notre Dieu, des maîtres étrangers nous ont possédés sans vous, que seulement par vous nous nous souvenions de votre nom.
O Lord our God, lords have had dominion over us beside thee; [but] of thee only would we make mention, —of thy name.
14 Que les morts ne revivent point, que les géants ne ressuscitent point; à cause de cela vous les avez visités et brisés, et vous avez anéanti toute leur mémoire.
[They are] dead, they will not live [again]; [they are] departed, they will not rise [again]; therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made to perish every memorial of them.
15 Vous avez été indulgent envers cette nation, Seigneur, vous avez été indulgent envers cette nation; est-ce que vous n’avez pas été glorifié? Vous avez reculé les frontières de sa terre.
Thou hast done more for the nation, O Lord, thou hast done more for the nation; thou hast glorified thyself: thou hast enlarged all the ends of the earth.
16 Seigneur, dans l’angoisse ils vous ont recherché, dans la tribulation du murmure votre enseignement était avec eux.
Lord, in trouble have they sought thee, they poured out earnest prayers when thy chastening was upon them.
17 Comme celle qui a conçu, lorsqu’elle approche de l’enfantement, souffre et crie dans ses douleurs; ainsi nous sommes devenus à votre face, Seigneur.
Like as a pregnant woman, that is near giving birth, is in pain, [and] crieth out in her pangs: so have we been in thy presence, O Lord.
18 Nous avons conçu, nous avons été comme en travail, nous avons enfanté du vent; nous n’avons pas fait des œuvres de salut sur la terre; c’est pour cela que ne sont pas tombés les habitants de la terre.
We have been pregnant and in pain, [but it was] as though we brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the land; and the inhabitants of the world have not fallen.
19 Ils vivront, vos morts; ceux qui m’ont été tués ressusciteront; réveillez-vous, et chantez des louanges, vous qui habitez dans la poussière; parce que votre rosée, Seigneur, est une rosée de lumière, et que vous réduirez la terre des géants en ruine.
Thy dead shall live, my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing ye, that dwell in the dust; for a dew on herbs is thy dew, and the earth shall cast out the departed.
20 Va, mon peuple, entre dans tes chambres; ferme les portes sur toi; cache-toi un peu pour un moment jusqu’à ce que soit passée l’indignation.
Go, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy door behind thee: hide thyself but for a little moment, until the indignation be passed away.
21 Car voici que le Seigneur sortira de son lieu, afin de visiter l’iniquité de l’habitant de la terre; et la terre révélera le sang qu’elle a reçu, et elle ne couvrira plus ceux qui avaient été tués sur elle.
For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to visit the iniquity of the inhabitants of the earth on them: and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall no more be a cover over her slain.
