Isaïe 2
1 Parole qu’a vue Isaïe, fils d’Amos, touchant Juda et Jérusalem.
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 Et il arrivera dans les derniers jours que la montagne préparée pour la demeure du Seigneur sera établie sur le sommet des montagnes, et elle sera élevée au-dessus des collines, et tous les peuples y afflueront.
And it shall come to pass in the end of days, [that] the mountain of Jehovah's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow unto it.
3 Et beaucoup de peuples iront et diront: Venez, et montons à la montagne du Seigneur, et à la maison du Dieu de Jacob, et il nous enseignera ses voies, et nous marcherons dans ses sentiers; parce que de Sion sortira la loi, et la parole du Seigneur de Jérusalem.
And many peoples shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and Jehovah's word from Jerusalem.
4 Et il jugera les nations, et il convaincra beaucoup de peuples; et de leurs glaives ils forgeront des socs de charrue, et de leurs lances des faux; une nation ne lèvera pas le glaive contre une autre nation, elles ne s’exerceront plus au combat.
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall reprove many peoples; and they shall forge their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning-knives: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 Maison de Jacob, venez, et marchons à la lumière du Seigneur.
House of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of Jehovah.
6 Car vous avez rejeté votre peuple, la maison de Jacob; parce qu’ils ont été remplis comme autrefois, qu’ils ont eu des augures comme les Philistins, et qu’ils se sont attachés à des enfants étrangers.
For thou hast cast off thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled [with what comes] from the east, and use auguries like the Philistines, and ally themselves with the children of foreigners.
7 Sa terre est remplie d’argent et d’or; et il n’y a pas de bornes à ses trésors;
And their land is full of silver and gold, and there is no end of their treasures: their land also is full of horses, and there is no end of their chariots.
8 Et sa terre est remplie de chevaux, et ses quadriges sont innombrables. Et sa terre est remplie d’idoles; ils ont adoré l’ouvrage de leurs mains, l’ouvrage qu’ont fait leurs doigts.
And their land is full of idols; they bow themselves down to the work of their own hands, to that which their fingers have made.
9 Et l’homme du peuple s’est courbé, et l’homme de condition est humilié; ne leur pardonnez donc point.
And the mean man shall be bowed down, and the great man shall be brought low: and do not thou forgive them!
10 Entre dans la pierre, et cache-toi dans les creux de la terre, par la crainte du Seigneur et de la gloire de sa majesté.
Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty.
11 Les yeux altiers de l’homme du peuple ont été humiliés, et la fierté des hommes de condition sera abaissée; mais le Seigneur seul sera exalté en ce jour-là.
The lofty eyes of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 Parce que le jour du Seigneur des armées éclatera sur tout esprit superbe et hautain et sur tout arrogant; et ils seront humiliés;
For there shall be a day of Jehovah of hosts upon everything proud and lofty, and upon everything lifted up, and it shall be brought low;
13 Et sur tous les cèdres du Liban, grands et élevés, et sur tous les chênes de Basan;
and upon all the cedars of Lebanon, high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan;
14 Et sur toutes les montagnes les plus hautes, et sur toutes les collines les plus élevées;
and upon all the lofty mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up;
15 Et sur toute tour la plus élevée et sur toute muraille fortifiée;
and upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall;
16 Et sur tous les vaisseaux de Tharsis, et sur tout ce qui est beau à voir.
and upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant works of art.
17 Et l’orgueil des hommes du peuple sera abaissé, et la hauteur des hommes de condition sera humiliée, et le Seigneur seul sera élevé en ce jour-là;
And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day:
18 Et les idoles seront entièrement brisées;
and the idols shall utterly pass away.
19 Et ils entreront dans les creux des rochers, dans les antres de la terre, par la frayeur du Seigneur, et à cause de la gloire de sa majesté, lorsqu’il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
And they shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he shall arise to terrify the earth.
20 En ce jour-là l’homme rejettera ses idoles d’argent et ses simulacres d’or, qu’il s’était faits pour les adorer, les taupes et les chauves-souris.
In that day men shall cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made [each] for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
21 Et il entrera dans les fentes des pierres, et dans les cavernes des roches par la frayeur du Seigneur, et à cause de la gloire de sa majesté, lorsqu’il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
to go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the fissures of the cliffs, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he shall arise to terrify the earth.
22 Laissez donc l’homme dont le souffle est dans ses narines, parce qu’il a été réputé pour le Très-Haut.
Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for what account is to be made of him?
