Isaïe 18
1 Malheur à la terre qui retentit par la cymbale de ses ailes, qui est au-delà des fleuves d’Ethiopie,
Woe to the land with spreading wings, which is beyond the rivers of Cush,
2 Qui envoie des ambassadeurs sur la mer et sur des vaisseaux de papyrus. Allez, anges rapides, vers une nation arrachée et déchirée, vers un peuple terrible, après lequel il n’en est pas d’autre aussi terrible; vers une nation qui attend et qui est foulée aux pieds, dont les fleuves ont ravagé la terre.
That sendeth on the sea ambassadors, and in vessels of bulrushes messengers over the face of the waters. Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation pulled and torn, to a people terrible from their beginning and onward; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!
3 Vous tous habitants de l’univers, qui demeurez sur la terre, lorsque l’étendard sera élevé sur les montagnes, vous le verrez, et vous entendrez le bruit éclatant de la trompette;
All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, when the ensign is lifted up on the mountains, see ye; and when the cornet is blown, hear ye.
4 Parce que voici ce que le Seigneur me dit: Je me tiendrai en repos, et je considérerai en mon lieu comme la lumière de midi qui est claire, et comme un nuage de rosée au jour de la moisson.
For so hath said the Lord unto me, I will take my rest, and I will look down on my dwelling-place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.
5 Car avant la moisson il a fleuri tout entier, et son germe le plus avancé ne mûrira pas, et ses petites branches seront coupées avec les faux, et ce qui aura été laissé sera retranché ou rejeté.
For before the harvest, when the blossom is past, and the flower becometh a ripening grape, will he both cut off the tendrils with pruning-knives, and the sprigs will he remove and cut down.
6 Il sera en même temps abandonné aux oiseaux des montagnes et aux bêtes de la terre; et pendant tout l’été y seront les oiseaux, et toutes les bêtes de la terre y passeront l’hiver.
They shall be left together unto the birds of prey of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the birds of prey shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.
7 En ce temps-là sera offert un présent au Seigneur des armées, par un peuple arraché et déchiré, par un peuple terrible, après lequel il n’en fut pas d’autre aussi terrible; par une nation qui attend, qui attend, et qui est foulée aux pieds, dont les fleuves ont ravagé la terre; offert dans le lieu du nom du Seigneur des armées, la montagne de Sion.
At that time shall be brought as a present unto the Lord of hosts a people pulled and torn, and a people terrible from their beginning and onward; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, the mount Zion.
