Osée 8
1 Que dans ta bouche soit une trompette, comme l’aigle sur la maison du Seigneur, à cause qu’ils ont transgressé mon alliance, et que contre ma loi ils ont prévariqué.
[SET] the trumpet to thy mouth. As an eagle [he cometh] against the house of the LORD: because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
2 Ils m’invoqueront, disant: Mon Dieu, nous vous reconnaissons, nous, Israël.
They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee.
3 Israël a rejeté le bien; l’ennemi le poursuivra.
Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him.
4 Ils ont régné par eux-mêmes, et non par moi; des princes se sont élevés, et je ne les ai pas connus; de leur argent et de leur or ils se sont fait des idoles, afin d’être exterminés.
They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
5 Ton veau, Samarie, a été jeté par terre; ma fureur s’est irritée contre eux; jusques à quand ne pourront-ils pas se purifier?
He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?
6 Parce que c’est d’Israël que vient ce veau; un ouvrier l’a fait, ce n’est pas un Dieu, puisque le veau de Samarie sera comme une toile d’araignée.
For from Israel is even this; the workman made it, and it is no God: yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
7 Parce qu’ils sèmeront du vent et moissonneront une tempête; il n’y a pas un épi debout; le grain ne donnera pas de farine, et que s’il en donne, les étrangers la mangeront.
For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing corn; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.
8 Israël a été dévoré; maintenant il est devenu parmi les nations comme un vase immonde.
Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
9 Parce qu’ils sont montés vers Assur, onagre solitaire qui ne vit que pour lui-même; Ephraïm a fait des présents à ceux à qui il se prostituait.
For they are gone up to Assyria, [like] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.
10 Mais, lorsqu’ils auront acheté le secours des nations, je les rassemblerai; et ils se reposeront un peu du fardeau imposé par un roi et par des princes.
Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them; and they begin to be minished by reason of the burden of the king of princes.
11 Parce qu’Ephraïm a multiplié les autels pour pécher, les autels sont devenus pour lui une occasion de crime.
Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars have been unto him to sin.
12 J’écrirai pour lui mes nombreuses lois qui ont été considérées comme étrangères.
Though I write for him my law in ten thousand [precepts], they are counted as a strange thing.
13 Ils offriront des hosties, ils immoleront de la chair, et ils en mangeront, et le Seigneur ne les recevra pas; maintenant il se souviendra de leur iniquité, et il visitera leurs péchés; et eux, ils retourneront en Egypte.
As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt.
14 Et Israël a oublié son créateur, et il a bâti des temples; et Juda a multiplié ses villes fortifiées; et j’enverrai un feu dans ses cités, et il dévorera ses édifices.
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof.
