Osée 7
1 Lorsque je voulais guérir Israël, l’iniquité d’Ephraïm et la malice de Samarie ont été révélées, parce qu’ils ont commis le mensonge; et un voleur est entré pillant, un brigand a pillé au dehors.
When I have healed Israel, then shall the iniquity of Ephraim be revealed, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they have wrought falsehood: and a thief shall come in to him, [even] a robber spoiling in his way;
2 Et que par hasard ils ne disent point dans leurs cœurs que je me suis souvenu de toute leur malice; maintenant leurs inventions les ont investis, c’est devant ma face qu’elles ont été commises.
that they may concert together as [men] singing in their heart: I remember all their wickedness: now have their own counsels compassed them about; they came before my face.
3 Par leur malice ils ont réjoui un roi; et par leurs mensonges des princes.
They gladdened kings with their wickedness, and princes with their lies.
4 Tous sont adultères, semblables à un four allumé par le boulanger; la ville a goûté un peu de repos, depuis que le levain a été mêlé avec la pâte, jusqu’à ce qu’elle ait été toute levée.
They are all adulterers, as an oven glowing with flame for hot-baking, on account of the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened.
5 C’est le jour de notre roi; les princes ont commencé à être en fureur par le vin, le roi a tendu la main aux railleurs;
[In] the days of our kings, the princes began to be inflamed with wine: he stretched out his hand with pestilent fellows.
6 Parce qu’ils ont rendu leur cœur comme un four, lorsqu’il leur tendait un piège; durant toute la nuit il a dormi en les faisant cuire; dès le matin, lui-même a été embrasé comme un feu de flamme.
Therefore their hearts are inflamed as an oven, while they rage all the night: Ephraim is satisfied with sleep; the morning is come; he is burnt up as a flame of fire.
7 Tous ont été chauffés comme un four, et ils ont dévoré leurs juges; tous leurs rois sont tombés; il n’est personne parmi eux qui crie vers moi.
They are all heated like an oven, and have devoured their judges: all their kings are fallen; there was not among them one that called on me.
8 Ephraïm lui-même se mêlait avec les peuples; Ephraïm est devenu comme un pain cuit sous la cendre, et qu’on ne retourne pas.
Ephraim is mixed among his people; Ephraim became a cake not turned.
9 Des étrangers ont consumé sa force, et lui-même ne l’a pas senti; mais de plus ses cheveux répandus sur sa tête sont devenus blancs, et lui-même ne s’en est point aperçu.
Strangers devoured his strength, and he knew [it] not; and grey hairs came upon him, and he knew [it] not.
10 Et l’orgueil d’Israël sera humilié à sa face; et ils ne sont pas revenus vers le Seigneur leur Dieu, et ils ne l’ont pas recherché au milieu de tous ces maux.
And the pride of Israel shall be brought down before his face: yet they have not returned to the Lord their God, neither have they diligently sought him for all this.
11 Et Ephraïm est devenu comme une colombe séduite, n’ayant pas de cœur; ils invoquaient l’Egypte; ils sont allés vers les Assyriens.
And Ephraim was as a silly dove, not having a heart: he called to Egypt, and they went to the Assyrians.
12 Et lorsqu’ils seront partis, j’étendrai sur eux mon rets; comme l’oiseau du ciel je les ferai descendre, je les taillerai en pièces, selon que l’a entendu leur assemblée.
Whenever they shall go, I will cast my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the sky, I will chasten them with the rumor of their [coming] affliction.
13 Malheur à eux, puisqu’ils se sont retirés de moi; ils seront désolés, parce qu’ils ont prévariqué contre moi; et moi je les ai rachetés, et eux, ils ont proféré contre moi des mensonges.
Woe to them! for they have started aside from me: they are cowards; for they have sinned against me: yet I redeemed them, but they spoke falsehoods against me.
14 Et ils n’ont pas crié vers moi en leur cœur; mais ils hurlaient sur leurs couches; ils méditaient sur le blé et le vin, et ils se sont retirés de moi.
And their hearts did not cry to me, but they howled on their beds: they pined for oil and wine.
15 Et moi, je les ai châtiés, et j’ai fortifié leur bras, et contre moi ils ont eu des pensées de malice.
They were instructed by me, and I strengthened their arms; and they devised evils against me.
16 Ils sont revenus à vouloir être sans joug; ils sont devenus comme un arc trompeur; leurs princes tomberont sous le glaive, par la fureur de leur langue. Ceci les rendra un objet de dérision dans la terre d’Egypte.
They turned aside to that which is not, they became as a bent bow: their princes shall fall by the sword, by reason of the unbridled state of their tongue: this is their setting at nothing in the land of Egypt.
