Osée 2
1 Dites à vos frères: Mon peuple; et à votre sœur: Tu as reçu miséricorde.
Say to your brother, My people, and to your sister, Pitied.
2 Jugez votre mère, jugez-la; elle n’est pas mon épouse, et moi je ne suis pas son époux; qu’elle ôte ses fornications de sa face, et ses adultères du milieu de son sein.
Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband: and I will remove her fornication out of my presence, and her adultery from between her breasts:
3 De peur que je ne la dépouille à nu, et que je ne la mette comme au jour de sa naissance; et que je ne la réduise en solitude, et que je ne la rende comme une terre inaccessible, et que je ne la fasse mourir de soif.
that I may strip her naked, and make her again as she was at the day of her birth: and I will make her desolate, and make her as a dry land, and will kill her with thirst.
4 Je n’aurai pas pitié de ses enfants, parce que ce sont des enfants de fornications:
And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they are children of fornication.
5 Parce que leur mère a forniqué, que celle qui les a conçus s’est couverte de confusion; parce qu’elle a dit: J’irai après mes amants, qui me donnent mon pain et mon eau, ma laine et mon lin, mon huile et mon breuvage.
And their mother went a-whoring: she that bore them disgraced [them]: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, and my garments, and my linen clothes, my oil and my necessaries.
6 À cause de cela, voici que moi, j’entourerai ton chemin d’une haie d’épines, je l’entourerai d’une muraille, et elle ne retrouvera pas ses sentiers.
Therefore, behold, I hedge up her way with thorns, and I will stop the ways, and she shall not find her path.
7 Et elle poursuivra ses amants, et elle ne les atteindra pas; et elle les cherchera, et elle ne les trouvera pas; et elle dira: J’irai, et je retournerai à mon premier mari, parce que j’étais alors mieux que maintenant.
And she shall follow after her lovers, and shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: and she shall say, I will go, and return to my former husband; for it was better with me than now.
8 Elle n’a pas su que moi, je lui ai donné le blé, le vin et l’huile; j’ai multiplié pour elle l’argent et l’or qui ont fait Baal.
And she knew not that I gave her her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied silver to her: but she made silver and gold [images] for Baal.
9 C’est pour cela que je changerai, et que je reprendrai mon blé en son temps et mon vin en son temps; et que j’enlèverai mon lin et ma laine qui couvraient son ignominie.
Therefore I will return, and take away my corn in its season, and my wine in its time; and I will take away my raiment and my linen clothes, so that she shall not cover her nakedness.
10 Et maintenant je révélerai sa folie aux yeux de ses amants, et pas un homme ne l’arrachera de ma main.
And now I will expose her uncleanness before her lovers, and no one shall by any means deliver her out of my hand.
11 Et je ferai cesser sa joie, ses solennités, ses néoménies, son sabbat et tous ses temps de fêtes.
And I will take away all her gladness, her feasts, and her festivals at the new moon, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.
12 Je gâterai sa vigne et son figuier dont elle disait: Ce sont mes récompenses que m’ont données mes amants; et j’en ferai une forêt, et la bête de la campagne la mangera.
And I will utterly destroy her vines, and her fig-trees, all things of which she said, These are my hire which my lovers have given me: and I will make them a testimony, and the wild beasts of the field, and the birds of the sky, and the reptiles of the earth shall devour them.
13 Et je visiterai sur elle les jours de Baalim, pendant lesquels elle brûlait de l’encens, et se parait de ses pendants d’oreilles et de son collier, et allait après ses amants, et m’oubliait, dit le Seigneur.
And I will recompense on her the days of Baalim, wherein she sacrificed to them, and put on her ear-rings, and her necklaces, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, saith the Lord.
14 À cause de cela, voici que moi, je l’attirerai doucement et l’amènerai dans la solitude, et je parlerai à son cœur.
Therefore, behold, I [will] cause her to err, and will make her as desolate, and will speak comfortably to her.
15 Et je lui donnerai des vignerons du même lieu, et la vallée d’Achor pour lui ouvrir une espérance; et elle chantera là comme aux jours de sa jeunesse, et comme au jour où elle remonta de la terre d’Egypte.
And I will giver her possessions from thence, and the valley of Achor to open her understanding: and she shall be afflicted there according to the days of her infancy, and according to the days of her coming up out of the land of Egypt.
16 Et il arrivera qu’en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur, elle m’appellera: Mon époux, et elle ne m’appellera plus Baali.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, [that] she shall call me, My husband, and shall no longer call me Baalim.
17 J’ôterai de sa bouche les noms de Baalim, et elle ne se souviendra plus de leur nom.
And I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and their names shall be remembered no more at all.
18 Et je contracterai en ce jour-là une alliance avec eux, avec la bête de la campagne, et avec l’oiseau du ciel, et avec le reptile de la terre; et je briserai l’arc, et le glaive, et la guerre, en les faisant disparaître de la terre, et je les ferai dormir dans la confiance.
And I will make for them in that day a covenant with the wild beasts of the field, and with the birds of the sky, and with the reptiles of the earth: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle from off the earth, and will cause thee to dwell safely.
19 Et je te prendrai pour mon épouse à jamais: et je te prendrai pour mon épouse par la justice, et par le jugement, et par la miséricorde, et par les bontés.
And I will betroth thee to myself for ever; yea, I will betroth thee to myself in righteousness, and in judgment, and in mercy, and in tender compassions;
20 Et je te prendrai pour mon épouse par la foi, et tu sauras que je suis le Seigneur.
and I will betroth thee to myself in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord.
21 Et il arrivera qu’en ce jour-là, j’exaucerai, dit le Seigneur, j’exaucerai les cieux, et eux exauceront la terre.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, I will hearken to the heaven, and it shall hearken to the earth;
22 Et la terre exaucera le blé, et le vin, et l’huile, et ces choses exauceront Jezrahel.
and the earth shall hearken to the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hearken to Jezrael.
23 Je la sèmerai sur la terre, et j’aurai pitié de celle qui fut nommée Sans miséricorde. Et je dirai à celui qui n’était pas mon peuple: Tu es mon peuple; et lui dira: Vous êtes mon Dieu, vous.
And I will sow her to me on the earth; and will love her that was not loved, and will say to that which was not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art the Lord my God.
