Hébreux 8
1 Mais voici l’abrégé de ce que je dis: Nous avons un pontife tel, qu’il est assis à la droite du trône de la Majesté dans les cieux.
And the sum concerning the things spoken of [is]: we have such a Chief Priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Greatness in the heavens,
2 Ministre du sanctuaire et du vrai tabernacle, que le Seigneur a dressé, et non pas un homme.
a servant of the holy places, and of the true dwelling place, which the LORD set up, and not man,
3 Car tout pontife est établi pour offrir des dons et des victimes; d’où il est nécessaire que celui-ci ait aussi quelque chose à offrir.
for every chief priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, from where [it is] necessary for this One to also have something that He may offer;
4 Si donc il était sur la terre, il ne serait pas même prêtre, y en ayant déjà pour offrir les dons selon la loi,
for if, indeed, He were on earth, He would not be a priest (there being the priests who are offering the gifts according to the Law,
5 Qui sont ministres d’un culte, modèle et ombre des choses célestes; comme il fut répondu à Moïse, lorsqu’il devait dresser le tabernacle: Vois [dit Dieu), et fais toutes choses selon le modèle qui t’a été montré sur la montagne.
who to an example and shadow serve of the heavenly things, as Moses has been divinely warned, being about to construct the Dwelling Place, for, “See,” He says, “[that] you will make all things according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain”),
6 Mais celui-ci a été investi d’un ministère d’autant plus excellent, qu’il est médiateur d’une alliance plus parfaite, établie sur de meilleures promesses.
but now He has obtained a more excellent service, how much He is also mediator of a better covenant, which has been sanctioned on better promises,
7 Car si la première eût été sans imperfection, il n’y aurait certainement pas eu lieu d’en rechercher une seconde.
for if that first were faultless, a place would not have been sought for a second.
8 Or, se plaignant d’eux. Dieu dit: Voici venir des jours, dit le Seigneur, où j’accomplirai avec la maison d’Israël et avec la maison de Juda une nouvelle alliance;
For finding fault, He says to them, “Behold, days come, says the LORD, and I will complete with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah, a new covenant,
9 Non selon l’alliance que j’ai faite avec leurs pères, au jour où je les pris par la main pour les tirer de la terre d’Egypte: parce qu’ils n’ont point eux-mêmes persévéré dans mon alliance, moi aussi je les ai délaissés, dit le Seigneur.
not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day of My taking [them] by their hand, to bring them out of the land of Egypt—because they did not remain in My covenant, and I did not regard them, says the LORD—
10 Et voici l’alliance que je ferai avec la maison d’Israël après ces jours, dit le Seigneur: Je mettrai mes lois dans leur esprit, et je les écrirai dans leur cœur; et je serai leur Dieu, et eux seront mon peuple;
because this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, says the LORD, giving My laws into their mind, and I will write them on their hearts, and I will be to them for a God, and they will be to Me for a people;
11 Et chacun n’enseignera plus son prochain, ni chacun son frère, disant: Connais le Seigneur; parce que tous me connaîtront depuis le plus petit jusqu’au plus grand;
and they will not each teach his neighbor, and each his brother, saying, Know the LORD, because they will all know Me—from the small one of them to the great one of them,
12 Car je pardonnerai leurs iniquités, et je ne me souviendrai plus de leurs péchés.
because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and I will remember their sins and their lawlessnesses no more.”
13 Mais en disant une nouvelle alliance, il a déclaré la première vieillie. Or ce qui devient ancien et vieillit est près de sa fin.
In the saying “new,” He has made the first obsolete, and what is becoming obsolete and growing old [is] near disappearing.
