Hébreux 2
1 C’est pourquoi nous devons garder avec d’autant plus de soin les choses que nous avons entendues, de peur de les laisser écouler.
Wherefore wee ought diligently to giue heede to the thinges which wee haue heard, lest at any time we runne out.
2 Car si la parole annoncée par les anges est demeurée ferme, et si toute prévarication et toute désobéissance a reçu sa juste rétribution,
For if the worde spoken by Angels was stedfast, and euery transgression, and disobedience receiued a iust recompence of reward,
3 Comment l’éviterons-nous, si nous négligeons un moyen si puissant de salut, que le Seigneur a commencé d’annoncer, et qui a été confirmé parmi nous, par ceux qui l’ont entendu,
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great saluation, which at the first began to be preached by the Lord, and afterward was confirmed vnto vs by them that heard him,
4 Dieu y ayant rendu témoignage par des miracles, par des prodiges, par différents effets de sa puissance, et par les dons de l’Esprit-Saint, qu’il a distribués selon sa volonté.
God bearing witnes thereto, both with signes and wonders, and with diuers miracles, and gifts of the holy Ghost, according to his owne will?
5 Car ce n’est pas aux anges que Dieu a soumis le monde futur dont nous parions.
For he hath not put in subiection vnto the Angels the world to come, whereof we speake.
6 Aussi quelqu’un l’a-t-il affirmé dans un certain endroit, disant: Qu’est-ce qu’un homme pour que vous vous souveniez de lui? ou le fils d’un homme, pour que vous le visitiez?
But one in a certaine place witnessed, saying, What is man, that thou shouldest bee mindefull of him? or the sonne of man, that thou wouldest consider him?
7 Vous l’avez abaissé un peu au-dessous des anges: vous l’avez couronné de gloire et d’honneur, et vous l’avez établi sur les ouvrages de vos mains.
Thou madest him a litle inferiour to ye Angels: thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and hast set him aboue the workes of thine hands.
8 Vous avez mis toutes choses sous ses pieds. Or en lui assujettissant toutes choses, il n’a rien laissé qui ne lui fût assujetti. Cependant nous ne voyons pas encore que tout lui soit assujetti.
Thou hast put all things in subiection vnder his feete. And in that he hath put all things in subiection vnder him, he left nothing that should not be subiect vnto him. But we yet see not all things subdued vnto him,
9 Mais ce Jésus, qui a été abaissé un peu au-dessous des anges, nous le voyons, à cause de la mort qu’il a soufferte, couronné de gloire et d’honneur, ayant par la grâce de Dieu goûté de la mort pour tous.
But we see Iesus crowned with glory and honour, which was made litle inferiour to the Angels, through the suffering of death, that by Gods grace he might taste death for all men.
10 pour qui et par qui sont toutes choses, qui voulait conduire une multitude d’enfants à la gloire, de consommer par les souffrances l’auteur de leur salut.
For it became him, for whome are all these thinges, and by whome are all these things, seeing that hee brought many children vnto glory, that he should consecrate the Prince of their saluation through afflictions.
11 Car celui qui sanctifie et ceux qui sont sanctifiés sont tous d’une seule nature. C’est pourquoi il ne rougit pas de les appeler frères, disant:
For he that sanctifieth, and they which are sanctified, are all of one: wherefore he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12 J’annoncerai votre nom à mes frères; je vous louerai au milieu de l’assemblée.
Saying, I will declare thy Name vnto my brethren: in the middes of the Church will I sing praises to thee.
13 Et encore: Je me confierai en lui. Et de nouveau: Me voici, moi et mes enfants que le Seigneur m’a donnés.
And againe, I will put my trust in him. And againe, Beholde, here am I, and the children which God hath giuen me.
14 Comme donc les enfants ont participé à la chair et au sang, il y a lui-même également participé, afin de détruire par la mort celui qui avait l’empire de la mort, le diable;
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himselfe likewise tooke part with them, that hee might destroye through death, him that had the power of death, that is the deuil,
15 Et de mettre en liberté ceux qui, par la crainte de la mort, étaient pour toute la vie soumis à la servitude.
And that he might deliuer all them, which for feare of death were all their life time subiect to bondage.
16 Car nulle part il ne prend les anges, mais c’est la race d’Abraham qu’il prend.
For he in no sort tooke on him the Angels nature, but hee tooke on him the seede of Abraham.
17 D’où il a dû être en tout semblable à ses frères, afin de devenir auprès de Dieu un pontife miséricordieux et fidèle, pour expier les péchés du peuple.
Wherefore in all things it behoued him to be made like vnto his brethren, that hee might be mercifull, and a faithfull hie Priest in things concerning God, that he might make reconciliation for the sinnes of the people.
18 Car c’est par les souffrances et les épreuves qu’il a lui-même subies, qu’il est puissant pour secourir ceux qui sont aussi éprouvés.
For in that he suffered, and was tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
