Genèse 9
1 Et Dieu bénit Noé et ses fils, et il leur dit: Croissez, multipliez vous, et remplissez la terre.
And God blessed Noe and his sons. And he said to them: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth.
2 Soyez la terreur et l’épouvante de tous les animaux de la terre, de tous les oiseaux du ciel et de tout ce qui se meut sur la terre; tous les poissons de la mer ont été mis entre vos mains.
And let the fear and dread of you be upon all the beasts of the earth, and upon all the fowls of the air, and all that move upon the earth: all the fishes of the sea are delivered into your hand.
3 Tout ce qui se meut et vit sera votre nourriture: de même que les légumes verts, je vous ai donné toutes ces choses.
And every thing that moveth and liveth shall be meat for you: even as the green herbs have I delivered them all to you:
4 Excepté que vous ne mangerez point de chair avec son sang.
Saving that flesh with blood you shall not eat.
5 Car le sang de vos âmes, j’en demanderai compte à la main de tous les animaux, et à la main de l’homme, et à la main de son frère, je demanderai compte de l’âme de l’homme.
For I will require the blood of your lives at the hand of every beast, and at the hand of man, at the hand of every man, and of his brother, will I require the life of man.
6 Quiconque aura répandu le sang de l’homme, son sang sera répandu; car c’est à l’image de Dieu qu’a été fait l’homme.
Whosoever shall shed man’s blood, his blood shall be shed: for man was made to the image of God.
7 Pour vous, croissez et multipliez-vous: entrez sur la terre et la remplissez.
But increase you and multiply, and go upon the earth, and fill it.
8 Dieu dit encore à Noé et à ses fils comme à lui:
Thus also said God to Noe, and to his sons with him,
9 Voilà que moi j’établirai mon alliance avec vous, et avec votre postérité après vous;
Behold I will establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you:
10 Et avec toute âme vivante, qui est avec vous, tant parmi les oiseaux, que parmi les animaux domestiques, et toutes les bêtes de la terre qui sont sorties de l’arche et tous les animaux de la terre.
And with every living soul that is with you, as well in all birds as in cattle and beasts of the earth, that are come forth out of the ark, and in all the beasts of the earth.
11 J’établirai mon alliance avec vous, et toute chair ne sera plus détruite par les eaux d’un déluge, car il n’y aura plus à l’avenir de déluge ravageant la terre.
I will establish my covenant with you, and all flesh shall be no more destroyed with the waters of a flood, neither shall there be from henceforth a flood to waste the earth.
12 Dieu dit ensuite: Voilà le signe de l’alliance que j’établis entre moi et vous et toute âme vivante qui est avec vous pour des générations éternelles:
And God said: This is the sign of the covenant which I give between me and you, and to every living soul that is with you, for perpetual generations.
13 Je placerai mon arc dans les nues, et il sera un signe d’alliance entre moi et la terre.
I will set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be the sign of a covenant between me, and between the earth.
14 Et quand j’aurai couvert le ciel de nuages, mon arc paraîtra dans les nues;
And when I shall cover the sky with clouds, my bow shall appear in the clouds:
15 Et je me souviendrai de mon alliance avec vous, et avec toute âme vivante qui anime la chair; et il n’y aura plus d’eaux de déluge pour détruire toute chair.
And I will remember my covenant with you, and with every living soul that beareth flesh: and there shall no more be waters of a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 L’arc sera donc dans les nues; je le verrai, et je me souviendrai de l’alliance éternelle qui est établie entre Dieu et toute âme vivante de toute chair qui est sur la terre.
And the bow shall be in the clouds, and I shall see it, and shall remember the everlasting covenant, that was made between God and every living soul of all flesh which is upon the earth.
17 Dieu dit encore à Noé: Voici le signe de l’alliance que j’ai établie entre moi et toute chair sur la terre.
And God said to Noe: This shall be the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh upon the earth.
18 Les fils de Noé qui sortirent de l’arche, étaient donc Sem, Cham et Japhet: or ce même Cham est le père de Chanaan.
And the sons of Noe who came out of the ark, were Sem, Cham, and Japheth: and Cham is the father of Chanaan.
19 Ce sont là les trois fils de Noé, et c’est par eux que toute la race des hommes s’est répandue sur la terre entière.
These three are the sons of Noe: and from these was all mankind spread over the whole earth.
20 Noé agriculteur, commença à cultiver la terre, et planta une vigne.
And Noe, a husbandman, began to till the ground, and planted a vineyard.
21 Et ayant bu du vin, il s’enivra et se trouva nu dans sa tente.
And drinking of the wine was made drunk, and was uncovered in his tent.
22 Lorsque Cham, père de Chanaan, eut vu cela, c’est-à-dire, la nudité de son père, il l’annonça à ses deux frères dehors.
Which when Cham the father of Chanaan had seen, to wit, that his father’s nakedness was uncovered, he told it to his two brethren without.
23 Mais Sem et Japhet mirent un manteau sur leurs épaules, et marchant en arrière, ils couvrirent la nudité de leur père; ainsi leurs visages étaient détournés, et ils ne virent pas la nudité de leur père.
But Sem and Japheth put a cloak upon their shoulders, and going backward, covered the nakedness of their father: and their faces were turned away, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24 Mais Noé, réveillé de son ivresse, lorsqu’il eut appris ce que lui avait fait son second fils,
And Noe awaking from the wine, when he had learned what his younger son had done to him,
25 Dit: Maudit Chanaan! il sera l’esclave des esclaves de ses frères.
He said: Cursed be Chanaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 Mais il ajouta: Béni le Seigneur, le Dieu de Sem! que Chanaan soit son esclave.
And he said: Blessed be the Lord God of Sem, be Chanaan his servant.
27 Que Dieu donne de l’étendue à Japheth, et qu’il habite dans les tentes de Sem, et que Chanaan soit son esclave.
May God enlarge Japheth, and may he dwell in the tents of Sem, and Chanaan be his servant.
28 Or Noé vécut après le déluge trois cent cinquante ans.
And Noe lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years:
29 Et tous ses jours accomplirent neuf cent cinquante ans, et il mourut.
And all his days were in the whole nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.
