Genèse 47
1 Etant donc entré, Joseph porta la nouvelle à Pharaon, disant: Mon père et mes frères, leurs brebis, leur gros bétail, et tout ce qu’ils possèdent, sont venus de la terre de Chanaan; et voici qu’ils se sont arrêtés dans la terre de Gessen.
And Ioseph wet and tolde Pharao and sayde: my father and my brethern their shepe and their beastes and all that they haue are come out of the lade of Canaan and are in the lande of Gosan.
2 Il plaça aussi les cinq derniers de ses frères devant le roi.
And Ioseph toke a parte of his brethern: euen fyue of them and presented them vnto Pharao.
3 Et le roi leur demanda: Quel genre d’occupation avez-vous? Ils répondirent: Nous, vos serviteurs, nous sommes pasteurs de brebis, et nous et nos pères.
And Pharao sayde vnto his brethern: what is youre occupation? And they sayde vnto Pharao: feaders of shepe are thi seruauntes both we ad also oure fathers.
4 C’est pour séjourner comme étrangers dans votre terre que nous sommes venus; parce qu’il n’y a point de pâturages pour les troupeaux de vos serviteurs, la famine augmentant chaque jour dans la terre de Chanaan; et nous vous prions d’ordonner que nous, vos serviteurs, demeurions dans la terre de Gessen.
They sayde moreouer vnto Pharao: for to sogcorne in the lande are we come for thy seruauntes haue no pasture for their shepe so sore is the fameshment in the lande of Canaan. Now therfore let thy seruauntes dwell in the lande of Gosan.
5 C’est pourquoi le roi dit à Joseph: Ton père et tes frères sont venus vers toi:
And Pharao sayde vnto Ioseph: thy father and thy brethren are come vnto the.
6 La terre d’Égypte est en ta présence: fais-les habiter dans le meilleur endroit, et donne-leur la terre de Gessen. Que si tu sais qu’il y ait parmi eux des hommes intelligents, établis-les maîtres de mes troupeaux.
The londe of Egipte is open before the: In the best place of the lande make both thy father and thy brothren dwell: And even in the lond of Gosan let them dwell. Moreouer yf thou knowe any men of actiuyte amonge them make them ruelars ouer my catell.
7 Après cela Joseph introduisit son père auprès du roi, et le plaça devant lui. Jacob ayant souhaité au roi toute sorte de prospérités,
And Ioseph brought in Iacob his father and sett him before Pharao And Iacob blessed Pharao.
8 Et ayant été interrogé par lui: Quels sont les jours des années de ta vie?
And Pharao axed Iacob how old art thou?
9 Répondit: Les jours de mon pèlerinage sont de cent trente ans, courts et mauvais, et ils ne sont pas parvenus jusqu’aux jours durant lesquels mes pères ont fait leur pèlerinage.
And Iacob sayde vnto Pharao: the dayes of my pilgremage are an hundred and. xxx. yeres. Few and euell haue the dayes of my lyfe bene and haue not attayned vnto the yeres of the lyfe of my fathers in the dayes of their pilgremages.
10 Et, toute sorte de prospérités souhaitées au roi, il sortit dehors.
And Iacob blessed Pharao and went out from him.
11 Or Joseph donna en possession à son père et à ses frères en Égypte, dans le lieu le plus fertile, Ramessès, comme avait ordonné Pharaon.
And Ioseph prepared dwellinges for his father and his brethern and gaue them possessions in the londe of Egipte in the best of the londe: eue in the lande of Raemses as Pharao commaunded.
12 Et il les nourrissait eux et toute la maison de son père, donnant des vivres à chacun.
And Ioseph made prouysion for his father his brethern and all his fathers housholde as yonge childern are fedd with bread.
13 Car dans tout l’univers le pain manquait, et la famine pesait sur la terre principalement d’Égypte et de Chanaan.
There was no bread in all the londe for the derth was exceadige sore: so yt ye lode of Egipte and ye lode of Canaan were fameshyd by ye reason of ye derth.
14 Joseph recueillit de ces pays tout l’argent par la vente du blé, et il le porta au trésor du roi.
And Ioseph brought together all ye money yt was founde in yt lade of Egipte and of Canaan for ye corne which they boughte: and he layde vp the money in Pharaos housse.
15 Et lorsque l’argent eut manqué aux acheteurs, toute l’Égypte vint à Joseph, disant: Donnez-nous du pain: pourquoi mourons-nous devant vous, l’argent nous manquant?
When money fayled in the lade of Egipte and of Canaan all the Egiptians came vnto Ioseph and sayde: geue us sustenaunce: wherfore suffrest thou vs to dye before the for oure money is spent.
16 Celui-ci leur répondit: Amenez vos troupeaux, et je vous donnerai en échange des vivres, si vous n’avez point d’argent.
Then sayde Ioseph: brynge youre catell and I well geue yow for youre catell yf ye be without money.
17 Quand ils les eurent amenés, il leur donna des vivres en échange de leurs chevaux, de leurs brebis, de leurs bœufs et de leurs ânes; ainsi il les nourrit cette année-là, en échange de leurs troupeaux.
And they brought their catell vnto Ioseph. And he gaue them bread for horses and shepe and oxen and asses: so he fed them with bread for all their catell that yere.
18 Ils vinrent encore la seconde année, et lui dirent: Nous ne cacherons pas à notre seigneur que, l’argent nous manquant, nos troupeaux nous ont aussi manqué; et ce n’est pas à votre insu qu’excepté les corps et la terre, nous n’avons rien.
When that yere was ended they came vnto him the nexte yere and sayde vnto him: we will not hydest from my lorde how that we haue nether money nor catell for my lorde: there is no moare left for my lorde but euen oure bodies and oure londes.
19 Pourquoi donc mourrons-nous sous vos yeux? et nous et notre terre nous serons à vous: achetez-nous pour être les esclaves du roi, et donnez-nous des semences, pour ne pas que, le cultivateur périssant, la terre soit réduite en solitude.
Wherfore latest thou us dye before thyne eyes and the londe to goo to noughte? bye us and oure landes for bread: and let both vs and oure londes be bonde to Pharao. Geue vs seed that we may lyue and not dye and that the londe goo not to wast.
20 Joseph donc acheta toute la terre d’Égypte, chacun vendant ses possessions à cause de la grandeur de la famine; et il l’assujettit à Pharaon,
And Ioseph boughte all the lande of Egipte for Pharao. For the Egiptians solde euery man his londe because the derth was sore apo them: and so the londe be came Pharaos.
21 Et tous les peuples, depuis une extrémité de l’Égypte jusqu’à l’autre extrémité,
And he appoynted the people vnto the cities from one syde of Egipte vnto the other:
22 Excepté la terre des prêtres qui leur avait été donnée par le roi; car une quantité déterminée de vivres des greniers publics leur était fournie, et c’est pour cela qu’ils n’ont pas été contraints de vendre leurs possessions.
only the londe of the Prestes bought he not. For there was an ordinauce made by Pharao for ye preastes that they shulde eate that which was appoynted vnto them: which Pharao had geuen them wherfore they solde not their londes.
23 Joseph donc dit au peuple: Voici, comme vous le comprenez, que Pharaon possède et vous et votre terre; recevez des semences et semez les champs,
Then Ioseph sayde vnto the folke: beholde I haue boughte you this daye ad youre landes for Pharao. Take there seed and goo sowe the londe.
24 Afin que vous puissiez avoir des grains. La cinquième partie, vous la donnerez au roi, et les quatre autres, je vous les laisse comme semence et comme nourriture pour vos familles et pour vos enfants.
And of the encrease ye shall geue the fyfte parte vnto Pharao and. iiij. partes shalbe youre awne for seed to sowe the feld: and for you and them of youre housholdes and for youre childern to eate.
25 Ils répondirent: Notre salut est en votre main; seulement que notre seigneur ait égard à nous, et joyeux, nous servirons le roi.
And they answered: Thou haste saued oure lyves Let vs fynde grace in the syghte of my lorde and let us be Pharaos servautes.
26 Depuis ce temps-là jusqu’au présent jour dans toute la terre d’Égypte, c’est aux rois que la cinquième partie est payée; et cela est comme passé en loi, excepté pour la terre des prêtres, qui fut exempte de cette condition.
And Ioseph made it a lawe ouer the lade of Egipte vnto this daye: that men must geue Pharao the fyfte parte excepte the londe of the preastes only which was not bond vnto Pharao.
27 Israël donc habita en Égypte, c’est-à-dire, dans la terre de Gessen, et la posséda: et il s’accrut et se multiplia extrêmement.
And Israel dwelt in Egipte: euen in the countre of Gosan. And they had their possessions therein and they grewe and multiplyed exceadingly.
28 Et il y vécut dix-sept ans; et tous les jours de sa vie furent de cent quarante-sept ans.
Moreouer Iacob lyued in the lande of Egipte. xvij. yeres so that the hole age of Iacob was an hundred and. xlvij. yere.
29 Et comme il voyait approcher le jour de sa mort, il appela son fils Joseph, et lui dit: Si j’ai trouvé grâce devant toi, mets ta main sous ma cuisse; et tu auras pour moi cet égard et cette loyauté, de ne pas m’ensevelir en Égypte;
When the tyme drewe nye that Israel must dye: he sent for his sonne Ioseph and sayde vnto him: Yf I haue founde grace in thy syghte put thy hande vnder my thye and deale mercifully ad truely with me that thou burie me not in Egipte:
30 Mais de me laisser dormir avec mes pères, de me transporter hors de cette terre, et de me mettre dans le sépulcre de mes ancêtres. Joseph lui répondit: Oui, je ferai ce que vous avez commandé.
but let me lye by my fathers and carie me out of Egipte and burie me in their buryall. And he answered: I will do as thou hast sayde.
31 Et lui: Jure-le moi donc, dit-il. Joseph jurant, Israël adora Dieu, se tournant vers le chevet de son lit.
And he sayde: swere vnto me: ad he sware vnto him. And than Israel bowed him vnto the beddes head.
