Esdras 8
1 Voici donc les princes des familles, et la généalogie de ceux qui sont montés avec moi sous le règne d’Artaxerxès, roi de Babylone:
And these [are] heads of their fathers, and the genealogy of those going up with me, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king, from Babylon.
2 D’entre les fils de Phinéès, Gersom; des fils d’Ithamar, Daniel; des fils de David, Hattus;
From the sons of Phinehas: Gershom; from the sons of Ithamar: Daniel; from the sons of David: Hattush;
3 D’entre les fils de Séchénias, qui étaient fils de Pharos, Zacharias: et avec lui furent dénombrés cent cinquante hommes;
from the sons of Shechaniah, from the sons of Pharosh: Zechariah, and with him, reckoning themselves by genealogy, of males one hundred and fifty.
4 D’entre les fils de Phahath-Moab, Elioénaï, fils de Zaréhé, et avec lui deux cents hommes;
From the sons of Pahath-Moab: Elihoenai son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred who are males.
5 D’entre les fils de Séchénias, le fils d’Ézéchiel, et avec lui trois cents hommes;
From the sons of Shechaniah: the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred who are males.
6 D’entre les fils d’Adan, Abed, fils de Jonathan, et avec lui cinquante hommes;
And from the sons of Adin: Ebed son of Jonathan, and with him fifty who are males.
7 D’entre les fils d’Alam, Isaïe, fils d’Athalias, et avec lui soixante-dix hommes;
And from the sons of Elam: Jeshaiah son of Athaliah, and with him seventy who are males.
8 D’entre les fils de Saphatias, Zébédia, fils de Michaël, et avec lui quatre-vingts hommes;
And from the sons of Shephatiah: Zebadiah son of Michael, and with him eighty who are males.
9 D’entre les fils de Joab, Obédia, fils de Jahiel, et avec lui deux cent dix-huit hommes;
From the sons of Joab: Obadiah son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen who are males.
10 D’entre les fils de Sélomith, le fils de Josphia, et avec lui cent soixante hommes;
And from the sons of Shelomith, the son of Josiphiah, and with him one hundred and sixty who are males.
11 D’entre les fils de Bébaï, Zacharie, fils de Bébaï, et avec lui vingt-huit hommes;
And from the sons of Bebai: Zechariah son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight who are males.
12 D’entre le fils d’Azgad, Johanan, fils d’Eccétan, et avec lui cent dix hommes;
And from the sons of Azgad: Johanan son of Hakkatan, and with him one hundred and ten who are males.
13 D’entre les fils d’Adonicam. qui étaient les derniers, et voici leurs noms: Eliphéleth, Jéhiel, Samaïas, et avec eux soixante hommes;
And from the younger sons of Adonikam—and these [are] their names—Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them sixty who are males.
14 D’entre les fils de Béguï, Uthaï et Zachur, et avec eux soixante-dix hommes.
And from the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud, and with them seventy who are males.
15 Or je les assemblai près du fleuve qui coule vers Ahava, et nous demeurâmes là trois jours; et je cherchai parmi le peuple et les prêtres des fils de Lévi, et je n’en trouvai point là.
And I gather them to the river that is going to Ahava, and we encamp there three days; and I consider about the people, and about the priests, and of the sons of Levi I have found none there;
16 C’est pourquoi j’envoyai Eliézer, Ariel, et Séméias, Elnathan, Jarib, et un autre Elnathan, Nathan, Zacharias, et Mosollam, les princes; Joïarib et Elnathan, les sages.
and I send for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, heads, and for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding;
17 Et je les envoyai vers Eddo, qui est le premier du lieu de Chasphia, et je mis en leur bouche les paroles qu’ils devaient dire à Eddo, et à ses frères Nathinéens, dans le lieu de Chasphia, afin qu’ils nous amenassent les ministres de la maison de notre Dieu.
and I charge them for Iddo the head, in the place Casiphia, and put in their mouth words to speak to Iddo, [and] his brothers the Nethinim, in the place Casiphia, to bring to us servants for the house of our God.
18 Et ils nous amenèrent, par la main favorable de notre Dieu, laquelle était sur nous, un homme très savant d’entre les fils de Maholi, fils de Lévi, fils d’Israël, et Sarabia, et ses fils, et ses frères, au nombre de dix-huit;
And they bring to us, according to the good hand of our God on us, a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, son of Levi, son of Israel, and Sherebiah, and his sons, and his brothers, eighteen;
19 Et Hasabia, et avec lui Isaïe d’entre les fils de Mérari, et ses frères, et ses fils, au nombre de vingt;
and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah, of the sons of Merari, his brothers, and their sons, twenty;
20 Et d’entre les Nathinéens que David et les princes avaient établis pour le service des Lévites, deux cent vingt Nathinéens: tous ceux-ci étaient appelés par leurs noms.
and from the Nethinim, whom David and the heads gave for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim, all of them defined by name.
21 Or je publiai là le jeûne près du fleuve Ahava, afin de nous affliger devant le Seigneur notre Dieu, et afin de lui demander la voie droite pour nous, pour nos fils, et pour tout ce qui était à nous;
And I proclaim there a fast, by the river Ahava, to afflict ourselves before our God, to seek from Him a right way for us, and for our infants, and for all our substance,
22 Car j’eus honte de demander au roi du secours et des cavaliers pour nous défendre de l’ennemi dans le chemin, parce que nous avions dit au roi: La main de notre Dieu est favorable à tous ceux qui le cherchent sincèrement; et son empire, et sa fureur, sur tous ceux qui l’abandonnent.
for I was ashamed to ask from the king a force and horsemen to help us because of the enemy in the way, for we spoke to the king, saying, “The hand of our God [is] on all seeking Him for good, and His strength and His wrath [is] on all forsaking Him.”
23 Or nous jeûnâmes et nous priâmes notre Dieu pour cela: et tout nous advint heureusement.
And we fast, and seek from our God for this, and He accepts our plea.
24 Et je séparai douze des princes des prêtres, Sarabia et Hasabia, et avec eux dix de leurs frères;
And I separate from the heads of the priests, twelve, even Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and with them of their brothers ten,
25 Et je leur pesai l’argent, l’or et les vases consacrés de la maison de notre Dieu, qu’avaient offerts le roi, ses conseillers, ses princes et tous ceux d’Israël qui avaient été trouvés;
and I weigh to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, a raised-offering of the house of our God, that the king, and his counselors, and his heads, and all Israel—those present—lifted up;
26 Je pesai aussi en leurs mains six cent cinquante talents d’argent, cent vases d’argent, et cent talents d’or,
and I weigh to their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and one hundred talents of vessels of silver, one hundred talents of gold,
27 Et vingt coupes d’or qui pesaient mille drachmes, et deux vases d’un airain brillant excellent, beaux comme l’or.
and twenty basins of gold, of one thousand drams, and two vessels of good shining bronze, desirable as gold.
28 Et je leur dis: Vous êtes les saints du Seigneur, et les vases sont saints, ainsi que l’argent et l’or qui ont été spontanément offerts au Seigneur Dieu de nos pères.
And I say to them, “You [are] holy to YHWH, and the vessels [are] holy, and the silver and the gold [are] a willing-offering to YHWH, God of your fathers;
29 Veillez, et gardez-les jusqu’à ce que vous les pesiez devant les princes des prêtres, des Lévites, et devant les chefs des familles d’Israël à Jérusalem, pour le trésor de la maison du Seigneur.
watch, and keep, until you weigh before the heads of the priests, and of the Levites, and the heads of the fathers of Israel, in Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of YHWH.”
30 Or les prêtres et les Lévites reçurent le poids de l’argent, de l’or et des vases, pour les porter à Jérusalem dans la maison de notre Dieu.
And the priests and the Levites took the weight of the silver, and of the gold, and of the vessels, to bring to Jerusalem to the house of our God.
31 Nous partîmes donc du fleuve d’Ahava le douzième jour du premier mois pour aller à Jérusalem; et la main de notre Dieu fut sur nous, et nous délivra de la main de l’ennemi, et de celui qui tendait des pièges dans le chemin.
And we journey from the river Ahava, on the twelfth of the first month, to go to Jerusalem, and the hand of our God has been on us, and He delivers us from the hand of the enemy and the one lying in wait by the way;
32 Et nous vînmes à Jérusalem, et demeurâmes là trois jours.
and we come to Jerusalem, and dwell there three days.
33 Mais au quatrième jour, l’argent fut pesé, et l’or et les vases, dans la maison de notre Dieu par la main de Mérémoth, fils d’Urie, le prêtre; et avec lui était Eléazar, fils de Phinéès, et avec eux Jozabed, fils de Josué, et Noadaïa, fils de Bennoïa, fils de Bennoï, le Lévite,
And on the fourth day has been weighed the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, in the house of our God, to the hand of Meremoth son of Uriah the priest, and with him Eleazar son of Phinehas, and with them Jozabad son of Jeshua, and Noadiah son of Binnui, the Levites:
34 Selon le nombre et le poids du tout; ainsi tout poids fut écrit en ce temps-là.
by number, by weight of everyone, and all the weight is written at that time.
35 Mais les fils de la transmigration qui étaient venus de la captivité, offrirent des holocaustes au Dieu d’Israël, douze veaux pour tout le peuple d’Israël, quatre-vingt-seize béliers, soixante dix-sept agneaux, douze boucs pour le péché: le tout eu holocauste au Seigneur.
Those coming in of the captives—sons of the expulsion—have brought burnt-offerings near to the God of Israel: twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, twelve young male goats for a sin-offering—the whole a burnt-offering to YHWH;
36 Or ils donnèrent les édits du roi aux satrapes qui étaient auprès du roi, et aux chefs au-delà du fleuve, et ils exaltèrent le peuple et la maison de Dieu.
and they give the laws of the king to the lieutenants of the king and the governors beyond the river, and they have lifted up the people and the house of God.
