Ézéchiel 24
1 Or la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en la neuvième année, au dixième mois, au dixième jour du mois, disant:
And the word of the Lord came unto me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, saying,
2 Fils d’un homme, écris pour toi le nom de ce jour, auquel le roi de Babylone s’est fortifié contre Jérusalem, le jour d’aujourd’hui.
Son of man, write thee down the name of this day, of this same day: the king of Babylon hath advanced against Jerusalem on this same day.
3 Et tu proposeras en figure à la maison provocatrice une parabole, et tu leur diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Mets une marmite sur le feu; mets-la, dis-je, et verse de l’eau dedans.
And speak concerning the rebellious family a parable, and say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Set on the pot, set it on, and also pour water into it;
4 Rassembles-y des morceaux de viande, toutes les bonnes parties, la cuisse et l’épaule, les endroits choisis et pleins d’os.
Gather the proper pieces into it, every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it up with the choice bones.
5 Prends la bête la plus grasse, fais aussi au-dessous une pile de ses os; elle a bouilli à gros bouillons, et ses os ont cuit entièrement au milieu de la marmite.
Take the choice of the flock, and make also a fire for the bones under it: cause it to seethe well, that even the bones therein may be fully boiled through.
6 À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Malheur à la cité de sang, à la marmite rouillée et dont la rouille ne s’est pas détachée; jettes-en toutes les pièces de viande les unes après les autres; on n’a pas jeté le sort sur elle.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Woe to the city of blood-guiltiness, to the pot the scum of which is yet in it, and the scum of which is not gone out of it! one of its pieces after the other take out from it: no lot is cast for it.
7 Car son sang est au milieu d’elle; c’est sur une pierre très lisse qu’elle l’a répandu: elle ne l’a pas répandu sur la terre, parce qu’il aurait pu être couvert par la poussière.
For her blood was in the midst of her; on the naked rock did she place it: she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it over with dust.
8 Afin donc d’amener une indignation sur elle, et de tirer une vengeance complète, j’ai répandu son sang sur une pierre très lisse, pour qu’il ne fût pas couvert.
To cause my fury to arise to take vengeance, do I place her blood upon the naked rock, so that it shall not be covered up.
9 À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Malheur à la cité de sang, dont je ferai moi-même un grand bûcher.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Woe to the city of blood-guiltiness! I also will myself build up a large burning pile,
10 Entasse les os que je brûlerai par le feu; toutes les chairs seront consumées, et tout ce qui compose la marmite sera cuit, et les os se fondront.
Heaping on the wood, kindling the fire, thoroughly boiling the flesh, and stirring the mixture, that the bones may be scorched.
11 Mets-la aussi vide sur des charbons ardents, afin qu’elle s’échauffe et que son airain se liquéfie, que son ordure se fonde au milieu d’elle, et que sa rouille se consume.
Then will I set it empty upon its coals, in order that it may become hot, and its copper be made to glow, and its uncleanness may be molten in it, that its scum may be consumed.
12 On a sué avec beaucoup de peine pour la nettoyer, mais sa rouille considérable n’a pas été enlevée même par le feu.
With fraud hath she wearied [the poor]; therefore shall not go forth from her the greatness of her scum: through fire shall her scum [be removed].
13 Ton impureté est exécrable; parce que j’ai voulu te purifier, et tu n’as pas été purifiée de tes ordures; aussi tu ne seras pas purifiée avant que je fasse reposer mon indignation sur toi.
In thy uncleanness is [thy] incest; because I endeavored to cleanse thee, and thou wouldst not be clean, thou shalt not be cleansed from thy uncleanness any more, until I have assuaged my fury on thee.
14 Moi le Seigneur j’ai parlé: Le temps viendra et j’agirai; je ne passerai pas outre, et je n’épargnerai pas, et je ne m’apaiserai pas, mais selon Les voies et selon tes inventions je te jugerai, dit le Seigneur.
I the Lord have spoken it; it cometh to pass, and I will do it; I will not recall my decree, and I will not have pity, nor will I repent: according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall men judge thee, saith the Lord Eternal.
15 Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
16 Fils d’un homme, voici que moi je t’enlève ce qui est désirable à tes yeux, en le frappant d’une plaie, et tu ne te lamenteras pas, et tes larmes ne couleront pas.
Son of man, behold, I will take away from thee the desire of thy eyes by a sudden death; but thou shalt neither mourn nor weep, nor shalt thou shed a tear.
17 Gémis en silence, tu ne feras pas le deuil des morts: que ta couronne soit liée sur ta tête, et ta chaussure sera à tes pieds, et tu ne couvriras pas d’un voile ton visage, et tu ne mangeras pas les mets de ceux qui sont dans le deuil.
Sigh in silence, make no mourning for the deceased, thy bonnet bind around thy head, and thy shoes put on thy feet, and cover not thyself to thy upper lip, and eat not the bread of [other] men.
18 Je parlai donc au peuple le matin, et ma femme mourut le soir; et je fis le matin comme Dieu m’avait ordonné.
And when I had spoken unto the people in the morning, my wife died at evening: and I did in the morning as I had been commanded.
19 Et le peuple me dit; Pourquoi ne nous indiquez-vous pas ce que signifie ce que vous faites?
And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things mean for us, that thou doest so?
20 Et je leur répondis: La parole du Seigneur m’a été adressée, disant:
And I said unto them, The word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
21 Dis à la maison d’Israël: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Voilà que moi je souillerai mon sanctuaire, l’orgueil de votre empire, et le désir de vos yeux, et l’objet de la frayeur de votre âme; vos fils et vos filles que vous avez laissés tomberont sous le glaive.
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and the darling of your soul: and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.
22 Et vous ferez comme j’ai fait: vous ne couvrirez pas d’un voile votre visage, et vous ne mangerez pas les mets de ceux qui sont dans le deuil.
And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover yourselves to your upper lip, and the bread of other men shall ye not eat.
23 Vous aurez des couronnes sur vos têtes, et une chaussure à vos pieds; vous ne vous lamenterez pas et vous ne pleurerez pas; mais vous sécherez dans vos iniquités, et chacun gémira sur son frère.
And your bonnets shall be around your heads, and your shoes shall be on your feet: ye shall not mourn nor shall ye weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and groan, looking one at the other.
24 Et Ezéchiel sera pour vous un signe; selon tout ce que j’ai fait, vous ferez, lorsque sera venu le temps; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Dieu.
Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you for a token; in accordance with all that he hath done shall ye do: when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord Eternal.
25 Et loi, fils d’un homme, voici qu’au jour où je leur ôterai leur force, et la gloire de leur dignité, et le désir de leurs yeux, et ce sur quoi se reposent leurs âmes, leurs fils et leurs filles;
Also, thou son of man, behold, on the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and the coveted object of their soul, their sons and their daughters, —
26 En ce jour-là viendra un fuyard vers toi, pour te donner des nouvelles;
On that day there shall come one that hath escaped unto thee, and announce it to thy ears.
27 En ce jour-là, dis-je, ta bouche s’ouvrira avec celui qui a fui; et tu lui parleras, et tu ne demeureras plus dans le silence; tu seras pour eux un signe; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur.
On that day shall thy mouth be opened through him that hath escaped, and thou shalt speak, and thou shalt not be silenced any more: and thou shalt be a token unto them, and they shall know that I am the Lord.
