Exode 8

1 Le Seigneur dit aussi a Moïse: Entre auprès de Pharaon, et tu lui diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu’il me sacrifie:

And the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

2 Mais si tu ne veux pas le laisser aller, voici que moi je frapperai tout ton pays de grenouilles.

And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs:

3 Car le fleuve fera jaillir des grenouilles, qui monteront, et entreront dans ta maison et dans la chambre où est ton lit, et sur ton lit. et dans les maisons de tes serviteurs, et au milieu de ton peuple, et dans tes fours, et sur les restes de tes aliments.

And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, and they shall go up and come into thy house, and into thy sleeping-chamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and among thy people, and into thy ovens, and into thy kneading-troughs;

4 Ainsi c’est chez toi, et chez ton peuple et chez tous tes serviteurs qu’entreront les grenouilles.

And upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants, shall the frogs come up.

5 Le Seigneur dit donc à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Etends ta main sur les fleuves, et sur les ruisseaux et les marais, et fais venir les grenouilles sur la terre d’Egypte.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thy hand with thy staff over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause the frogs to come up over the land of Egypt.

6 Et Aaron étendit sa main sur les eaux d’Egypte, et les grenouilles montèrent et couvrirent la terre d’Egypte.

And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

7 Mais les magiciens aussi firent pareillement par leurs enchantements, et ils firent venir les grenouilles sur la terre d’Egypte.

And the magicians did so with their secret arts, and brought up the frogs over the land of Egypt.

8 Or Pharaon appela Moïse et Aaron et leur dit: Priez le Seigneur qu’il éloigne les grenouilles de moi et de mon peuple, et je laisserai aller le peuple, afin qu’il sacrifie au Seigneur.

Then did Pharaoh call for Moses and Aaron, and said, Entreat the Lord, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice unto the Lord.

9 Et Moïse répondit à Pharaon: Indique-moi quand je devrai prier pour toi, et pour tes serviteurs et pour ton peuple, afin que les grenouilles soient chassées loin de toi et de ta maison, et de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple, et qu’elles demeurent seulement dans le fleuve.

And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Arrogate thyself glory over me: for what time shall I entreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and from thy houses, that they may remain in the river only?

10 Celui-ci répondit: Demain. Or Moïse: Je ferai, dit-il, selon ta parole, afin que tu saches qu’il n’y en a point comme le Seigneur notre Dieu.

And he said, For tomorrow; and he said, Be it according to thy word; in order that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the Lord our God.

11 Et les grenouilles s’éloigneront de toi et de ta maison, et de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple, et elles demeureront seulement dans le fleuve.

And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; only in the river shall they remain.

12 Alors Moïse et Aaron sortirent de devant Pharaon; et Moïse cria au Seigneur, à cause de la promesse qu’il avait faite à Pharaon touchant les grenouilles.

And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried unto the Lord on account of the frogs which he had inflicted on Pharaoh.

13 Et le Seigneur fit selon la parole de Moïse; et les grenouilles des maisons, et des villages et des champs, moururent.

And the Lord did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields.

14 Et on les entassa en immenses monceaux, et la terre en fut infectée.

And they gathered them together in many heaps; and the land stank.

15 Or Pharaon, voyant qu’il lui avait été donné du relâche, endurcit son cœur, et il n’écouta pas Moïse et Aaron, comme avait ordonné le Seigneur.

But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had spoken.

16 Alors le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Etends ta verge et frappe la poussière de la terre, et qu’il y ait des moucherons dans toute la terre d’Egypte.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy staff, and smite the dust of the earth, and it shall become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

17 Et ils firent ainsi. Aaron étendit donc sa main, tenant sa verge; et il frappa la poussière de la terre, et les moucherons s’attachèrent aux hommes et aux bêtes; toute la poussière de la terre fut changée en moucherons par toute la terre d’Egypte.

And they did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff, and smote the dust of the earth, and the lice were thus on man, and on beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

18 Et les magiciens firent pareillement par leurs enchantements, pour produire les moucherons, mais ils ne le purent; et les moucherons restaient attachés aux hommes et aux bêtes.

And the magicians did so with their secret arts to bring forth the lice, but they could not; so were the lice upon man and upon beast.

19 Alors les magiciens dirent à Pharaon: C’est le doigt de Dieu; et le cœur de Pharaon s’endurcit, et il n’écouta pas Moïse et Aaron, comme avait ordonné le Seigneur.

Then said the magicians unto Pharaoh, This is a finger of God; but Pharaoh's heart remained hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had spoken.

20 Le Seigneur dit aussi à Moïse: Lève-toi au point du jour, et présente-toi devant Pharaon; car il sortira pour aller vers l’eau, et tu lui diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu’il me sacrifie.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and place thyself before Pharaoh; lo, he goeth forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

21 Que si tu ne le laisses pas aller, voici que je vais envoyer sur toi et sur tes serviteurs, et sur ton peuple et en tes maisons, toute sorte de mouches; et les maisons des Egyptiens seront remplies de mouches de diverses espèces, et toute la terre en laquelle ils seront.

For if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send against thee, and against thy servants, and against thy people, and into thy houses various wild beasts: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of the wild beasts, and also the ground whereon they dwell.

22 Mais je rendrai merveilleuse en ce jour-là la terre de Gessen, en laquelle est mon peuple, de manière à ce qu’il n’y ait point là de mouches, et que tu saches que moi le Seigneur, je suis au milieu de cette terre.

And I will distinguish on that day the land of Goshen, in which my people abideth, so that no wild beasts shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth.

23 C’est ainsi que je mettrai une distinction entre mon peuple et ton peuple: demain aura lieu ce prodige.

And I will put a distinction between my people and thy people; tomorrow shall this sign be.

24 Et le Seigneur fit ainsi. Il vint des mouches très dangereuses dans les maisons de Pharaon et de ses serviteurs, et dans toute la terre d’Egypte: ainsi la terre fut infectée par les mouches de cette sorte.

And the Lord did so; and there came a grievous multitude of beasts into the house of Pharaoh, and into the house of his servants; and in all the land of Egypt, the land was laid waste by reason of the wild beasts.

25 Alors Pharaon appela Moïse et Aaron, et leur dit: Allez et sacrifiez à votre Dieu en cette terre-ci.

And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.

26 Mais Moïse répondit: Cela ne peut se faire ainsi; car les sacrifices que nous offrirons au Seigneur notre Dieu sont des abominations pour les Egyptiens; que si nous tuons devant eux les animaux qu’adorent les Egyptiens, ils nous lapideront.

And Moses said, It is not proper to do so; for the abomination of the Egyptians must we sacrifice to the Eternal our God: lo, if we should sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, would they not stone us?

27 Nous ferons le chemin de trois journées dans le désert, et nous sacrifierons au Seigneur notre Dieu, comme il nous l’a ordonné.

A three days' journey will we go into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the Lord our God, just as he may say unto us.

28 Et Pharaon reprit: Moi. je vous laisserai aller, afin que vous sacrifiiez au Seigneur votre Dieu dans le désert: cependant n’allez pas plus loin, priez pour moi.

And Pharaoh said, I will surely let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the Eternal your God in the wilderness; only do not go very far away: entreat for me.

29 Moïse répondit: Sorti d’avec toi, je prierai le Seigneur, et demain les mouches s’éloigneront de Pharaon, et de ses serviteurs et de son peuple; cependant ne me trompe plus désormais, en ne laissant pas aller le peuple sacrifier au Seigneur.

And Moses said, Behold, I am going out from thee, and I will entreat the Lord, and the wild beasts shall depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow; only let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more, so as not to let the people go to sacrifice to the Lord.

30 Moïse donc, sortit de la présence de Pharaon, pria le Seigneur;

And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the Lord.

31 Qui fit selon sa parole, et il enleva les mouches de Pharaon, et de ses serviteurs et de son peuple: il n’en resta pas même une seule.

And the Lord did according to the word of Moses; and he removed the wild beasts from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one.

32 Mais le cœur de Pharaon s’endurcit: en sorte que, pas même cette fois, il ne laissa aller le peuple.

But Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, and he did not let the people go.
