Exode 28
1 Fais aussi approcher de toi Aaron ton frère avec ses fils du milieu des enfants d’Israël, afin qu’ils exercent les fonctions du sacerdoce pour moi: Aaron, Nadab et Abiu, Eléazar et Ithamar.
And thou shalt let come near unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may be a priest unto me; Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Elazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron.
2 Et tu feras un vêtement saint à Aaron ton frère pour la gloire et l’ornement.
And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, for glory and for ornament.
3 Et tu parleras à tous les sages de cœur, que j’ai remplis de l’esprit de prudence, pour qu’ils fassent à Aaron des vêtements, par lesquels étant sanctifié, il me servira.
And thou shalt speak unto all that are wisehearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make garments for Aaron, to sanctify him, that he may be a priest unto me.
4 Or voici les vêtements qu’ils feront: Un rational, un éphod, une robe et une tunique de lin étroite, une tiare, et une ceinture. Ainsi, ils feront des vêtements saints à ton frère Aaron et à ses fils, afin qu’ils exercent les fonctions du sacerdoce, pour moi.
And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a checkered coat, a mitre, and a girdle; and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and for his sons, to be a priest unto me.
5 Et ils prendront l’or, l’hyacinthe, la pourpre, l’écarlate deux fois teinte et le fin lin.
And they shall take the gold, and the blue, and purple, and scarlet yarn, and the linen.
6 Or ils feront l’éphod d’or, d’hyacinthe, de pourpre, d’écarlate deux fois teinte, et de fin lin retors, d’un ouvrage en tissu de diverses couleurs.
And they shall make the ephod, of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet yarn, and twisted linen, of weaver's work.
7 Il aura aux deux côtés de ses sommités deux bandes jointes, de manière à former une seule pièce.
Two shoulder-pieces shall it have joined at the two edges thereof; by which it shall be joined together.
8 Le tissu lui-même et tous les ouvrages divers seront d’or, d’hyacinthe, de pourpre, d’écarlate deux fois teinte et de fin lin retors.
And the belt for girding, which is upon it, shall be of the same make, out of the same piece with itself; of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet yarn, and twisted linen.
9 Et tu prendras deux pierres d’onyx, et tu graveras sur elles les noms des fils d’Israël:
And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the children of Israel:
10 Six noms sur une pierre, et les six autres sur une autre, selon l’ordre de leur naissance.
Six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the remaining six on the other stone, according to the order of their birth.
11 Au moyen d’un travail de sculpteur et de la taille d’un lapidaire, tu graveras sur les pierres les noms des fils d’Israël, après les avoir enchâssées dans l’or et les en avoir environnées;
With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engraving of a signet, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel; fitted in settings of gold shalt thou make them.
12 Et tu les mettras sur les deux côtés de l’éphod, souvenir pour les enfants d’Israël. Et Aaron portera sur ses épaules leur nom devant le Seigneur, pour souvenir.
And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulder-pieces of the ephod as stones of memorial unto the children of Israel; and Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord upon his two shoulders for a memorial.
13 Tu feras encore des agrafes d’or.
And thou shalt make casings of gold;
14 Et deux chaînettes d’un or très pur, se tenant l’une à l’autre, que tu attacheras aux agrafes.
And two chains of pure gold, with knots at the ends, of wreathed work shalt thou make them, and thou shalt fasten the wreathed chains to the casings.
15 Tu feras aussi le rational du jugement, d’un ouvrage en tissu de diverses couleurs, selon la tissure de l’éphod, d’or, d’hyacinthe, de pourpre, d’écarlate deux teinte et de fin lin retors.
And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment, of weaver's work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet yarn, and of twisted linen, shalt thou make it.
16 Il sera carré et double, et il aura la mesure d’une palme, tant en longueur qu’en largeur.
Four-square shall it be, double; a span in length, and a span in breadth.
17 Tu y mettras quatre rangs de pierres: à la première rangée il y aura une sardoine, une topaze et une émeraude;
And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row, a sardius, a topaz, and an emerald; this shall be the first row.
18 À la seconde, une escarboucle, un saphir et un jaspe;
And the second row, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond.
19 À la troisième, un ligure, une agate et une améthyste;
And the third row, an opal, a turquoise, and an amethyst.
20 À la quatrième, un chrysolite, un onyx, et un béryl; ils seront enchâssés dans de l’or, selon leurs rangs.
And the fourth row, a chrysolite, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be fitted in golden casings when they are set in.
21 Et ils porteront les noms des fils d’Israël: leurs douze noms seront gravés, chaque nom sur chaque pierre, selon les douze tribus.
And the stones shall be according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names; [engraved] with the engraving of a signet, every one according to his name, shall they be for the twelve tribes.
22 Tu feras pour le rational des chaînes se tenant l’une à l’autre, d’un or très pur,
And thou shalt make on the breastplate chains with knots at the ends, of wreathed work, of pure gold.
23 Et deux anneaux d’or que tu mettras aux deux sommités du rational;
And thou shalt make on the breastplate two rings of gold, and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.
24 Puis tu joindras les deux chaînes d’or par les anneaux qui sont aux bords du rational;
And thou shalt put the two wreathed chains of gold in the two rings, on the ends of the breastplate.
25 Et tu attacheras les extrémités des chaînes elles-mêmes aux agrafes aux deux côtés de l’éphod qui regarde le rational.
And the [other] two ends of the two wreathed chains thou shalt fasten on the two casings, and put them on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod on the outside thereof.
26 Tu feras aussi deux anneaux d’or que tu mettras aux sommités du rational sur les bords qui sont vis-à-vis de l’éphod, et regardent sa partie de derrière.
And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them on the two ends of the breastplate on its border, which is on the opposite side of the ephod, inward.
27 Tu feras de plus deux autres anneaux d’or qui devront être posés aux deux côtés de l’éphod par en bas; côtés qui regardent en face de la jonction inférieure, afin que le rational puisse s’adapter à l’éphod.
And thou shalt make two more rings of gold, and shalt put them on the two shoulder-pieces of the ephod underneath, toward its front part, close by its seam, above the girdle of the ephod.
28 Et que le rational soit attaché par ses anneaux aux anneaux de l’éphod au moyen d’un ruban d’hyacinthe, afin que la jonction habilement faite se maintienne, et que le rational et l’éphod ne puissent être séparés l’un de l’autre.
And they shall fasten the breastplate by its rings unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may remain on the girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod.
29 Et Aaron portera les noms des fils d’Israël dans le rational du jugement sur sa poitrine, lorsqu’ils entrera dans le sanctuaire, souvenir en présence du Seigneur pour toujours.
And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the Lord continually.
30 Or tu mettras sur le rational du jugement: La Doctrine et la Vérité, qui seront sur la poitrine d’Aaron, lorsqu’il entrera devant le Seigneur; ainsi il portera toujours le jugement des fils d’Israël sur sa poitrine en la présence du Seigneur.
And thou shalt put into the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the Lord; and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the Lord continually.
31 Tu feras encore, toute de couleur d’hyacinthe, la tunique de l’éphod.
And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod altogether of blue woolen yarn.
32 Au milieu de laquelle il y aura dans le haut une ouverture, et autour d’elle un bord tissu, comme on a coutume d’en faire aux extrémités des vêtements, pour ne pas qu’il se déchire facilement.
And there shall be an opening in the top of it, in the midst thereof; it shall have a binding of woven work, round about its opening, as it is on the opening of a habergeon, so shall it be thereon, that it be not rent.
33 Mais en bas, aux pieds de la même tunique, tu feras tout autour comme des grenades d’hyacinthe, de pourpre, d’écarlate deux fois teinte, en entremêlant des sonnettes,
And thou shalt make on its lower hem pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet yarn, round about its lower hem; and bells of gold between them round about:
34 En sorte qu’il y ait une sonnette d’or et une grenade, et de nouveau, une autre sonnette d’or et une grenade.
A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, on the lower hem of the robe round about.
35 Aaron en sera revêtu dans les fonctions du ministère, afin qu’on entende le son, quand il entrera dans le sanctuaire en la présence du Seigneur, et qu’il en sortira, et qu’il ne meure point.
And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministereth; and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in into the holy place before the Lord, and when he cometh out, that he die not.
36 Tu feras encore une lame d’un or très pur, sur laquelle tu graveras, en ouvrage de ciseleur: La sainteté est au Seigneur.
And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engraving of a signet, Holy unto the Lord.
37 Et tu la lieras avec un ruban d’hyacinthe, et elle sera sur la tiare,
And thou shalt fasten it on a lace of blue, and it shall be upon the mitre; upon the front of the mitre shall it be.
38 Dominant le front du pontife. Et Aaron portera les iniquités de ce que les enfants d’Israël auront offert et consacré dans tous leurs dons et présents. Or cette lame sera toujours sur son front, afin que le Seigneur leur soit propice.
And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead; and Aaron shall atone for the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be upon his forehead always, that they may be received in favor before the Lord.
39 Et tu feras la tunique étroite de fin lin; tu feras aussi une tiare de fin lin, et une ceinture, en ouvrage de brodeur.
And thou shalt make the coat of linen checkered, and thou shalt make a mitre of linen, and a girdle shalt thou make of embroiderer's work.
40 Mais aux fils d’Aaron, tu prépareras des tuniques de lin, des ceintures et des tiares pour la gloire et l’ornement;
And for Aaron's sons shalt thou make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles; and bonnets thou shalt make for them, for glory and for ornament.
41 Et tu revêtiras de tous ces vêtements Aaron ton frère, et ses fils avec lui. Et tu consacreras les mains de tous, et tu les sanctifieras afin qu’ils exercent les fonctions du sacerdoce pour moi.
And thou shalt clothe therewith Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and thou shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may be priests unto me.
42 Tu feras aussi des caleçons de lin, afin qu’ils couvrent la chair de leur nudité, depuis les reins jusqu’aux cuisses;
And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs shall they reach.
43 Et Aaron et ses fils s’en serviront, quand ils entreront dans le tabernacle de témoignage, ou quand ils approcheront de l’autel pour servir dans le sanctuaire, afin qu’ils ne meurent point coupables d’iniquité. Ce sera une loi perpétuelle pour Aaron et pour sa postérité après lui.
And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die; a statute for ever shall it be for him and for his seed after him.
