Exode 11

1 Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Je frapperai encore, mais d’une seule plaie, Pharaon et l’Egypte; et après cela il vous laissera aller, il vous forcera même de sortir.

Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Yet one plague, will I bring in upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt, after that, he will let you go from hence, —when he doth let you go, he will, altogether drive, you out from hence.

2 Tu diras donc à tout le peuple, que chaque homme demande à son ami, et chaque femme à sa voisine, des vases d’argent et d’or.

Speak, I pray you, in the ears of the people, —and let them ask—every man of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, articles of silver and articles of gold.

3 Et le Seigneur fera trouver grâce à son peuple devant les Egyptiens. Or Moïse fut un homme très considérable en Egypte aux yeux des serviteurs de Pharaon et de tout le peuple.

And Yahweh gave the people favour, in the eyes of the Egyptians, —even the man Moses himself, was exceeding great in the land of Egypt, —in the eyes of Pharaoh’s servants and in the eyes of the people.

4 Il dit donc: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Au milieu de la nuit, j’entrerai en Egypte;

And Moses said, Thus saith Yahweh, —About midnight, am, I, going forth in the midst of Egypt;

5 lit tout premier-né mourra dans la terre des Egyptiens, depuis le premier-né de Pharaon, qui est assis sur son trône, jusqu’au premier-né de la servante, qui tourne la meule, et jusqu’au premier-né des bêtes.

then shall every firstborn in the land of Egypt die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, unto the firstborn of the handmaid who is behind the two millstones, —and every firstborn of beasts;

6 Et il y aura un grand cri dans toute la terre d’Egypte, tel qu’auparavant il n’y en a pas eu, et qu’à l’avenir il ne doit pas y en avoir.

then shall there be a great outcry, in all the land of Egypt, —such, as never was and, such, as shall not be again.

7 Mais chez tous les enfants d’Israël, depuis l’homme jusqu’à la bête, pas même un chien ne murmurera, afin que vous sachiez par quel miracle le Seigneur sépare les Egyptiens d’Israël.

But against none of the sons of Israel, shall a dog sharpen his tongue, neither against man nor beast, —that ye may know that Yahweh maketh a difference between Egypt and Israel.

8 Alors ceux-ci tes serviteurs descendront tous vers moi, et se prosterneront devant moi, disant: Sors, toi et tout le peuple qui t’est soumis: après cela nous sortirons

So shall all these thy servants come down unto me and bow themselves down to me saying—Go forth, thou and all the people who are in thy footsteps, and after that, will I go forth. And he went forth from Pharaoh, in a heat of anger.

9 Et il sortit d’avec Pharaon extrêmement irrité. Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Pharaon ne vous écoutera pas, afin que beaucoup de signes se fassent dans la terre d’Egypte.

And Yahweh had said unto Moses, Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, —that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.

10 Or Moïse et Aaron firent devant Pharaon tous les prodiges qui sont écrits. Mais le Seigneur endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne laissa pas aller les enfants d’Israël hors de son pays.

So then, Moses and Aaron, did all these wonders before Pharaoh, —but Yahweh let Pharaoh’s heart wax bold, and he did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
