Éphésiens 3
1 C’est pour cela que moi, Paul, je suis le prisonnier du Christ Jésus, pour vous gentils;
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 Car vous avez appris sans doute que Dieu m’a confié la dispensation de sa grâce en votre faveur;
If all of you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me toward you:
3 Puisque, par révélation, il m’a fait connaître ce mystère, comme je vous l’ai écrit plus haut en peu de mots;
How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote before in few words,
4 De sorte que lisant, vous pouvez comprendre l’intelligence que j’ai du mystère du Christ,
Whereby, when all of you read, all of you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
5 Mystère qui, dans les autres générations, n’a pas été découvert aux enfants des hommes, comme il est maintenant révélé par l’Esprit aux saints apôtres et aux prophètes,
Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; (pneuma)
6 Que les gentils sont cohéritiers, membres d’un même corps, et participants avec eux de sa promesse en Jésus-Christ par l’Evangile,
That the Gentiles should be join heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
7 Dont j’ai été fait le ministre, en vertu du don de la grâce de Dieu, qui m’a été donnée par l’opération de sa vertu.
Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
8 À moi, le moindre des saints, a été donnée cette grâce d’annoncer parmi les gentils les richesses incompréhensibles du Christ,
Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9 Et d’éclairer tous les hommes touchant la dispensation du mystère caché, dès l’origine des siècles, en Dieu qui a créé toutes choses; (aiōn g165)
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: (aiōn g165)
10 Afin que les principautés et les puissances qui sont dans les cieux connussent par l’Eglise la sagesse multiforme de Dieu,
To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: (aiōn g165)
12 En qui nous avons la liberté et l’accès auprès de Dieu, avec confiance par la foi en lui.
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
13 Aussi je vous demande de ne vous point laisser abattre à cause de mes tribulations pour vous, car c’est votre gloire.
Wherefore I desire that all of you faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
14 C’est pour cela que je fléchis les genoux devant le Père de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 De qui toute paternité tire son nom au ciel et sur la terre;
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 Afin qu’il vous accorde, selon les richesses de sa gloire, que vous soyez puissamment fortifiés par son Esprit dans l’homme intérieur;
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit (pneuma) in the inner man;
17 Que le Christ habite par la foi dans vos cœurs, et qu’enracinés et fondés dans la charité,
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that all of you, being rooted and grounded in love, (agape)
18 Vous puissiez comprendre avec tous les saints, quelle est la largeur et la longueur, la hauteur et la profondeur,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 Et connaître aussi la charité du Christ, qui surpasse toute science, afin que vous soyez remplis de toute la plénitude de Dieu.
And to know the love (agape) of Christ, which passes knowledge, that all of you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Mais à celui qui est puissant pour tout faire bien au-delà de ce que nous demandons ou concevons, selon la vertu qui opère en nous,
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
