Ecclésiaste 1
1 Paroles de l’Ecclésiaste, fils de David, roi de Jérusalem.
[the] words of Teacher [the] son of David king in Jerusalem.
2 Vanité des vanités, a dit l’Ecclésiaste: vanité des vanités, et tout est vanité.
Futility of futilities he said Teacher futility of futilities everything [is] futility.
3 Quel avantage a l’homme de tout son travail auquel il travaille sous le soleil?
What? profit [belongs] to humankind in all toil his that he toils under the sun.
4 Une génération passe, et une génération vient; mais la terre pour toujours reste debout.
A generation [is] going and a generation [is] coming and the earth for ever [is] continuing.
5 Le soleil se lève et se couche, et il revient à son lieu: et là renaissant,
And it rises the sun and it goes the sun and to place its [is] panting [is] rising it there.
6 Il tourne vers le midi, et se dirige vers l’aquilon. Parcourant toutes choses en tournant, le vent avance et revient vers ses circuits.
[it is] going To [the] south and [it is] circling to [the] north circling around - circling around [is] going the wind and on circuits its [is] returning the wind.
7 Tous les fleuves entrent dans la mer, et la mer ne déborde pas: vers le lieu d’où ils sortent, les fleuves retournent pour de nouveau couler.
All the rivers [are] going to the sea and the sea not it [is] full to [the] place where the rivers [are] going there they [are] returning to go.
8 Toutes choses sont difficiles; l’homme ne peut les expliquer par le discours. L’œil ne se rassasie pas de voir, ni l’oreille d’entendre.
All things [are] wearisome not he is able anyone to speak [them] not it is satisfied an eye by seeing and not it is filled an ear from hearing.
9 Qu’est-ce qui a été? Cela même qui doit être à l’avenir. Qu’est-ce qui a été fait? cela même qui doit être fait à l’avenir.
Whatever it has been it [is] which will be and whatever (which has been done *L(abh)*) it [is] which will be done and there not [is] any new [thing] under the sun.
10 Rien sous le soleil de nouveau, et nul ne peut dire: Vois, ceci est récent; car il a déjà existé dans les siècles qui ont été avant nous.
[is] there? Anything that anyone will say see this [is] new it already it has been to ancient times which it was from to before us.
11 Il n’est pas mémoire des choses antérieures; et quant à celles qui dans la suite doivent arriver, il n’en sera pas souvenir chez ceux qui viendront en dernier lieu.
There not [is] remembrance of the former [things] and also of the subsequent [things] that they will be not it will be of them remembrance with who will be to the later [time].
12 Moi l’Ecclésiaste, j’ai été roi d’Israël dans Jérusalem,
I Teacher I was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13 Et j’ai mis en mon esprit de chercher et d’examiner sagement tout ce qui se passe sous le soleil. Cette occupation très pénible, Dieu l’a donnée aux fils des hommes, afin qu’ils s’y livrassent.
And I gave heart my to study and to discover by wisdom on all that it has been done under the heavens it - [is] a task of evil [which] he has given God to [the] children of humankind to be busy with it.
14 J’ai vu toutes les choses qui se font sous le soleil, et voilà qu’elles sont toutes vanité et affliction d’esprit.
I have seen all the works that have been done under the sun and there! everything [is] futility and striving of wind.
15 Les pervers difficilement se corrigent, et des insensés infini est le nombre.
[something] bent Not it is able to become straight and something missing not it is able to be numbered.
16 J’ai parlé en mon cœur, disant: Voilà que j’ai été fait grand, et que j’ai surpassé en sagesse tous ceux qui ont été avant moi dans Jérusalem: et mon esprit a contemplé beaucoup de choses sagement, et j’ai beaucoup appris.
I have spoken I with heart my saying I here! I have made great and I have increased wisdom above every [one] who he was before me over Jerusalem and heart my it has seen much wisdom and knowledge.
17 Et j’ai appliqué mon cœur pour connaître la sagesse et la doctrine, et les erreurs et la folie, et j’ai reconnu qu’en cela aussi était un travail et une affliction d’esprit;
And I gave! heart my to know wisdom and to know madness and folly I knew that also this it [is] a striving of wind.
18 Parce que dans une grande sagesse est une grande indignation, et celui qui augmente sa science augmente aussi sa peine.
For [is] in abundance of wisdom abundance of frustration so someone may increase knowledge he will increase pain.
